We visited for brunch on Sunday. They have a "dj" that plays music so loud, we could not hear each other without yelling. It made the whole dining experience very stressful. The food was just ok. I ordered the farm eggs & potatoes. The potatoes were delicious, but the eggs were really over cooked. It also came with garden vegetables which ended up being some sort of bitter green. Not sure if it was collard green or a mustard green, but I didn't care for it. My boyfriend ordered Eggs New Orleans. The gumbo had a very odd flavor to it, and the dish itself was just ok. Honestly, we were just trying to hurry up and get out of there so we didn't have to hear the music anymore.

If you are looking for the noisy, pretentious see and be seen type of place, go somewhere else. This establishment is friendly and very approachable. We arrived early and decided to get a cocktail at the bar. Glad we did. The bar staff is engaging and knowledgeable about their craft, with some interesting concoctions. Moving to our table, the wait staff was also friendly and professional. My wife and I split an appetizer, salad and entrée and were very satisfied. Each course was delicious. We will return.

4 of us went for dinner at Commonwealth on a Sunday night, and overall we had a pretty nice time. We had a variety of dishes from crispy chicken bite appetizers to entrees of steak, texas prawns and braised short ribs, and it was all very nice. The service however was disappointing: one of our group waited 15 mins after everyone else to get her drink (a very complicated Diet Coke...) and throughout the night drinks repeatedly had to be asked for more than once, and everything was just a bit hit-and-miss. Also, the oysters on the menu, one of their main sections, are apparently out of season and not available at the moment - why are they still showing on the menus and the website then? It's little touches like this that can influence whether people bother going back to a restaurant more than once. As we live very close to Commonwealth we will probably end up going again at some point, but I'll make sure it's on a night when we don't mind if things are a bit slow, and I won't be assuming that anything on the menu will actually be available.

Very disappointing! We went specifically for the charcuterie board. We were seated promplty. Unfortunately, at 8:00, the charcuterie board was not available. Given the recent publicity in the Houston Press, I'm sure that thisis a popular item. We'll probably try again.

Where do I begin? Perhaps with being sat at a tiny table for two, cramped against a wall, while a dining room full of four-tops sat empty. Or, maybe, the amount of time it took to get our bottle of wine, which we had to make room for on our tiny table, with an ice bucket too. The service was not the worst I've had but it was far from good. The worst though? The food. Everything in the Lobster Risotto dish was overlooked and very chewy, not in a good way. Seasoning was lacking. My husband's tuna was a no go as well. The poke roll app was okay, but tiny. We paid way too much for such a crummy dining experience. Do yourself and your pocketbook a favor and skip this one.

My wife and I tried Commonwealth for the first time last week. Needless to say we will be visiting regularly. The staff and chef were friendly and attentive. They have a great drink selection with many traditional and new mixed drinks. We both ordered steak. Normally I'm a traditionalist and don't want anything on my steak, however the bone-in ribeye was outstanding with the sauce it was prepared with. The duck fat potatoes were out of this world as well. My wife's pepper crusted fillet was also outstanding. We simply had no negatives from our experience and recommend this place to anyone! The food / drink prices are higher than many restaurants in the immediate area...but well work the price in our opinion.

We came to Commonwealth fairly early on a Thursday night - it was pretty dead, so having an Open Table reservation wasn't really needed. We sat down and the waiter immediately asked us what would we like to drink and giving his recommendations for the specialty cocktails. We asked for a minute to look over the drinks ourselves and he didn't end up returning to our table for another 10 minutes to ask for our drink order. Once we placed our drink order it took TWENTY FIVE minutes to receive our drinks. Another table close by had sat down after us and were able to get their drinks and appetizers before us. I'm almost certain he forgot to place our drink order because they weren't busy or backed up for it to take that long to receive. Our second round of same drinks took only a few minutes to receive. The waiter was nice enough to offer us a free dessert for the wait on our drinks and the food was really good and wouldn't mind going back. I recommend Commonwealth to those looking for a nice dinner, but hopefully they don't get the same experience as we did.

I met a friend there for dinner and got there first. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable and made me a great infused, cucumber basil martin. My friend came and we ordered wine and food. The ceviche was amazing and I loved the pork chop. She ordered a salad and two aps that were very good. It was quiet enough that we could talk and it is a nice change from the former location. I highly recommend it. The last time I was there it was much busier and it deserves to be packed all the time.
