The restaurant was closed, yet offered reservations on a busy parents weekend in Ithaca. No information on the restaurant not being open was shown, and multiple guests with reservations wound up outside and unable to get tables anywhere else at such a short notice at a busy time.

Coltivare has been closed since May 26, 2023, but I didn’t know that until I showed up for my reservation on July 2, 2023 because I received a confirmation for my reservation from open table on July 1, 2023. Please fix the open table app!

Super disappointing and WAY WAY overpriced! Like mediocre prepared banquet food—the supposedly farm to table cuisine was non-existent (eg., pre-chopped romaine out of a plastic bag for the Caesar salad). There’s a contagion of forcing out fixed price meals for high prices and terrible service in Ithaca to meet the demands of Cornell graduation and it’s a shame. Spent $440 on dinner for 4 with one $40 bottle of Prosecco and a single beer. Feel extremely cheated with terrible food and service.

We had a fabulous experience on May 21. Attentive server and great food. The prix fixe was a little pricey but understandable as it was graduation weekend. The restaurant made all necessary changes from the comments on the night before.

We were highly disappointed with our graduation dinner. The restaurant had a limited menu and was price gouging customers who wanted to celebrate their graduates. We paid over $350 for 4 meals which included 3 pasta meals and 1 chicken meal. The pasta was over cooked and the chicken piece was small and half bone. We could have had a better dinner at a chain restaurant for less than $100.

We went for pre-graduation dinner. Prix fixe menu had only 1 vegetarian appetizer & entrée option and they were the same - cauliflower with buffalo sauce. They just cut it in”steaks” and added fries for entree. But that didn’t matter since they were out by the time we sat down at 7:00. What followed was 2+ hours of slow service and average, at best, food. WAY overpriced for what we got. Took SO long to arrive. Medium steak was well done, but since we had waited an hour for it to arrive we didn’t dare say anything. Fries were so cooked to be pretty much inedible. Only bright spot was our server, Katie, who remained poised & friendly. Shame on the restaurant who took a lot of money ($90 per person without drinks) for a pretty awful meal.

Very upset when we arrived for graduation dinner to find only option is a price fixed very expensive menu with limited options to select from. Disappointing selection. When I made reservations it was not a price fix. Then found out they were out of 1 of only 2 apps for the night. How can that be? When the decision was just made 3 days prior abt changing the menu. I don't usually write reviews but I was incredibly disappointed. Even the water was served warm. My large party did not see much they were interested in ordering and to pay $70 to 75 for food you didn't want? We actually ended up leaving the restaurant. No one in the building reportedly had access to the thermostat either as the manager had recently resigned...just seemed so disorganized and unprepared. That said, the hostess and servers were very nice and tried to be accommodating and making us comfortable.

Well...I feel bad for the waitress and hostess. This situation was not their fault... Now the problem... Saturday night of Ithaca college graduation weekend. Reservations made 6 months out and had to be secured by a credit card. Arrive for a 6:30 reservation a few minutes early and get seated right away. Obviously busy as expected. Waitress and hostess seem stressed... prixe fixed menu which we were not expecting and limited selections ( only 2 appetizers to choose from. Buffalo cauliflower and mac & cheese). Waitress comes back for our order and the buffalo calamari is no longer available (really?) guess I'll make due with mac & cheese. Place our order and start the wait After A LONG TIME, we start to notice other tables that were seated before were getting take out boxes... but their main course hadn't shown up. Another table got up and left with nothing on their table....hmmm. Now it's 7:45 and we some drinks, BUT NO FOOD OF ANY KIND! Time to go find out what's going on.... go and speak to the hostess. Apparently they are down several cooks, a manager quit a week before, and other call outs. It's now 8:00 and we have ZERO food and nobody can give us any idea when we might get a salad or mac and cheese. Give up and leave after paying our drink bill....along with a lot of other patrons. It would have been nice if the establishment had reached to us ahead of time to give us an option to cancel our credit card required reservation before wasting an entire evening of a special weekend. Wound up ordering Dominoes pizza and ate at our hotel. Thanks Coltivare! I come to Ithaca occasionally but will NEVER dine with you again! I would highly recommend anybody coming for Cornell's graduation next weekend to be very wary if they are coming here! You have been warned.

Way to ruin a graduation weekend. The restaurant had 2 chefs for over 100 people. They had a fixed menu that was never told to us until 2 days before that was outrageously priced for terrible food. Absolutely bare minimum compensation for a disaster of a dinner. The restaurant should have shut down and sent everyone home that would have been more fair than charging $700 for mac and cheese, cauliflower, and mediocre entrees that took 2.5 hours.

We arrived to learn the entire menu was changed to fixed-price two days before despite our reservations weeks ahead and their calling to confirm. The restaurant was packed yet they admitted they had a skeleton kitchen staff. We got food only after and hour of waiting and then we didn't get the salad because "they ran out" ... before 7pm!

The menu was changed to an expensive price fixed menu without notification. Service was poor- we had a 5:15 reservation and didn’t leave until 8:15pm. The food was not cooked well and had to be sent back. It was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.

Had a reservation for Ithaca Graduation weekend. Chose this restaurant bc the menu seemed good but when arrived there was a fixed menu. It was outrageously priced ($65 for chicken, $75 for steak) including an app and a salad. Terrible practice to not inform diners of drastic change to menu. There was a table behind us of 10 that had no where else to go, but hadn’t been planning on spending 1,000 on dinner. The quality of the food was barely mediocre. Management should be absolutely ashamed. Absolutely terrible.

I believe they over booked , the “pre made “ food was awful. My fish was dried out , no flavor, $75 My daughter had cold, not room temp , meatballs . They were awful , soggy cold pasta. $65 The short rib, cold, dry, but the flavor was acceptable $70 The steak was tough, had better cuts from stop and shop, no flavor at all$70. The server was great. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. I think they shot themselves in the foot with this price gouging short sighted Money grab. Hours of overtime to pay for this, should be reimbursed.

Went for dinner on Mothers Day. They were serving their regular menu which has maybe a dozen choices. My Short Rib was 50% fat. Pasta was overcooked, meatballs were dry and overcooked. The bread was an oily crouton, cut so thick you could hardly bite through it. Weekly catch was overcooked while the vegetables were under done. Panna Cotta was over set and solid. For 5 people it was over $300 (2 shareables, 5 meals, 5 drinks and 5 desserts) and nothing was cooked properly. It was not only us that had issues. A nearby table had to send a burger back because it was wrong and it took 15 minutes before the replacement came out. By then their entire table had finished eating and they ended up just getting a to go box. The venue was not crowded, 8 tables at most had diners, so the delays and issues cannot be blamed on how busy it was.

How does a restaurant manage to have all non -operational beer taps? On top of that, their selection of canned/bottled beers was just weird. Of the couple beers that looked like they might be a bit more normal, yup - they were out. Tried for a sparkling water but yet again - they were out. The server blamed this issue on a large party they had there earlier in the week but I’m sorry - that issue could have been a non- issue if the manager had done proper planning. The food was fine.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The food took over an hour to come out and when it came, none of it, other than the buffalo cauliflower and the apple dessert, was remotely palatable. One dish was burnt, one had a strangely flavored sauce, one was just tasteless. They had no wine and almost no beer (despite plenty listed on the menu). Our server was great, but there was nothing she could do to help the kitchen situation. My prediction is that this place will not be around much longer. In any case, don’t go.

Two of us ate at Coltivare. We shared a caesar salad that was just. The salmon entree was a bit overcooked and that was very disappointing. The short ribs entree was very dry and plain y-tasting. There were no juices, just very dry and the flavor was but very plain tasting. I had no sense of seasonings or spices. The service was very good. Unfortunately the bar was out of Tanqueray Gin which they usually stock were told. The mocha tort was just a slice of chocolate cake with a brown creme layer in the middle but it had no taste of coffee flavor. The chocolate cake was good.

This was our second visit. Our server seemed lackluster about her job and was possibly new. The vegetable flatbread had a very strong cardamon spice that was unexpected and bitter. Especially when mixed with the melted Gouda cheese The mussels appetizer and Caesar salad were very good. My husband enjoyed his salmon. My sons burger was fine but the fries were soggy.

Coltivare has excellent quality food in a relaxed but very attractive setting. There's quite a bit of variety to the menu, portions are generous, and the cocktails are interesting and delicious.
