Located just a block from The Commons, Coltivare is the downtown Ithaca culinary center, event venue, and farm-to-table restaurant of Tompkins Cortland Community College. Our professionally staffed restaurant supports four related degree programs as well as sourcing much of its produce from the college’s TC3 Farm in Dryden. Serving seasonal New American fare locally sourced and inventively prepared, we let the flavors of the Finger Lakes shine through. We also feature a full selection of craft cocktails, regional wines, and New York State beer.

Open for Dinner nightly Tuesday-Sunday, we offer Happy Hour specials at the bar during the week and a special Sunday Brunch. Our modern, rustic, and inviting atmosphere serves as the perfect backdrop for our farm-to-table mission.

First visit= stellar. This one not so much. Grad weekend called for reservations & small menu. Fine and expected. Portions were coldish and sparse, - not at all like what we experienced the first visit — wait staff forgot us, and NO ONE WAS IN THERE! We were one of 5 parties in the restaurant. Very disappointed and sad 😔 it’s our last memory of the place

Half hearted attempt at a Mother’s Day brunch. It was like the free breakfast at Motel Six except it was 45 bucks a piece. So many great places to eat in Ithaca, I’ll never step foot in this place again.

Every thing was acceptable, except the price. We had Mother’s Day brunch. Selection of food was ok, but there could have been a selection of waffles, pancakes, or french toast. In my opinion, 45 dollars was a too high, even if you ate large servings, and went back to the buffet several times, which we did not.

I was so excited to finally visit Coltivare on Mother's Day and what a disappointment it was. First, their credit card machine was down, no problem, we stopped and got $200 cash, thinking that would be more than enough for lunch for 3. When I booked on OpenTable, it did not mention that it was buffet - had I known, I wouldn't have booked it, as I was looking forward to full service meal. It was priced at $45/person, but we thought, hey it must be great. When we sat ee ordered two bloody mary's. Apparently they had run out of tomato juice by 12:30. Who runs out of tomato juice during a Sunday brunch on Mother's Day? The buffet had a decent variety of options but all the stations were quite messy. There was one set of tongs for all the different crostini plates - I actually heard one of the staff say it's easier to just use your fingers rather than wait for the one tong! Really?! The food itself was mediocre at best. Our waitress was MIA for 20 minutes when we finally saw her we had to ask for salt and pepper, as there was none on the table. By the time she brought it, we had finished most of our meals. When we got our bill, we were shocked to see that it was $190 and included a 20% gratuity! I've worked in the service industry and appreciate what they endure, and I'm accustomed to automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more at 18% for full service meals. To charge 20% gratuity for 3 people for a buffet service with mediocre food and poor service is ludicrous! The building itself was nice but that's about the only positive thing I could say about our experience. I was really excited to try it out because I've heard great things but our experience on Mother's Day was anything but great.

Based upon prior reviews, I can only conclude that this restaurant used to be far better than it currently is. The service was downright awful. We ordered starters and waited a solid 45 min before anyone took our mains order. The waiter only begrudgingly told us what the soup and fish of the day were and only after my wife asked twice. The food was just dreadful. It came out 5 min after it was ordered which signifies that it's sitting on warmers. I ordered pasta with meatballs. The sauce was acidic like it had been sitting on a burner for hours without being tended. The meatballs had the consistency of cat food and didn't taste much better. My wife had the rubbery shrimp and grits. This place is a must miss for any food lover!

We visited for Easter Brunch which was a complete disappointment. Several items, including the prime rib carving station which was a main item, were not available as we were later in the day and some of the warm items were cold. They did discount the price a bit but still it was over $200 for four people and basically a glorified breakfast. One cherry lemonade (non-alcoholic) was $13....tip was mandatory 20% for a buffet (and was calculated at the full original price) and just ok service.

Overrated and disappointing restaurant overall. Made reservations weeks in advance to visit our son at Cornell. Atmosphere, decor, ambiance had great potential- looks and feels very upscale with exposed brick walls, cozy lighting. Food is average at best. Meatballs were overworked, tough, flat tasting and brought to table lukewarm. Veggie burger was overcooked- hard, crusty. Fries were not much different than your basic fries from anywhere. Overcooked pasta swimming in sauce that tasted like it was poured from a jar. Chicken and Cajun rice also tasted like it was made from a pre made mix. Honestly I have no idea how this place has such rave reviews for food. That and the wine is ridiculously overpriced - I paid $20 for 4oz (not 5 as promised) of what I know is an $8 bottle bought off the shelf. Only positive was our server who was very sweet. Since there are many other food options in Ithaca we’ll be dining elsewhere.
