CocoBolos Mexican Grill & Cantina
*Patio seating is first come first serve*
Very disappointing. Firstly, it’s reasonable to expect that a “build your own margarita” option that involves numerous super-premium tequila options will not come out as an icky-sweet 21 ounce monstrosity. A stomachache in a glass, literally. The stacked enchiladas were among the most flavorless I’ve ever tasted at any restaurant anywhere ever. The politeness and relative attentiveness of our server almost made our experience merit two stars…almost but not quite. CocoBolos fits neatly in the ever-growing list of ultra boring JoCo restaurants that remind us that, while there are certain benefits to living in the ‘burbs, quality cuisine is certainly not one of them.
Second visit. Food wasn’t very good either time. Server was spread too thin and could not keep up. The “barbacoa” was just fatty pork roast. Fajita quesadilla was good
The food is great so is the service. Seating outside was very nice --of course, the weather helped. I also liked the fact that they have staff that speak Spanish.
The steak taco was terrible — meat so full of fat that
you could barely eat it. The original margarita was perhaps the worst margarita that I have ever had .
We enjoyed the happy hour on the patio. The only complaint really was the slow service. That seems to have been an issue with Cocobolos since even before the pandemic unfortunately though. Always feel like it’s a hit-or-miss.
Sat out on patio during a busy night with Catbackers group. Our waitress was really good and attentive as busy as it was. The Happy Hour prices were great. Food was average ,(Cocobolos nachos and steak tacos).
We sat on the patio on a Friday night. We were pleased to get on rather quickly. As I joined my friend, it was a little awkward. Thank goodness we are not large. The table was squished in. I couldn’t sit down without pulling the chair out and it hitting the guest behind me. Our service was below average. We had to ask for everything. Please can we have more water, please can you take the dirty plates away, please can we have more chips with our queso. There was not one proactive step taken. There wasn’t a problem getting it. But, we did have to ask for steps of service. Food was great.
Great food and outdoor patio
New server brought us the wrong thing and seemed to be more interested in talking with co-workers versus doing her job.
Good experience overall. The salads are delicious and the black & white pizza is too. Its not easy taking care of a large group, but our server did pretty well.
We were able to get a quiet(er) table for 7 in the room in the back. Our server was excellent - personable with the perfect level of attentiveness.
The service was excellent and attentive. The food was okay. The margaritas were lacking.
Jose Peppers has better food. CocBolos is very loud and the salsa is bad.
We arrived and our Open Table reservation wasn't found. I had to show the confirmation on my phone. We were then seated at a very small 4 top table in the bar that was really probably better suited for 2 people. 3 of 4 in our party are over 6feet, so needless to say, the table was way too small. There were booths and larger tables that sat empty our entire visit.
Chips were over fried. Entrees were fine. The Las Cruces potatoes were delicious.
Service was great, which is what saved the experience for us.
Really good food - it just seemed like our server had way too many tables. She didn’t put our drink order in until we reminded her AFTER our food came. It all worked out, but I felt like we were barely taken care of and we had to ask 2 or 3 times for things. Overall, it was good food so that’s important.
Great atmosphere, great drinks, good food, and great service!!
Great food! Meals were out fast and the service was impeccable.
Had a great dinner, plan on coming back for brunch soon!
The food was very flavorful and the atmosphere was lively. I really enjoyed our meal.
Always love this place, the guac was fantastic! Can't wait to go back.
Love this place...manager/bartender is a big plus to this restaurant. I'm going to ask for her name and remember it!!!
It was extremely loud. It took an hour to get our food after ordering it. The food is way to expensive for the quality of it.
Food was good - waiter attentive! We sat outside but sun was a problem. Don't understand why they have umbrellas when they don't shade the diners.
We enjoy going here as it's in an area with foot traffic and on nice days, the two "garage door" sides are open to the outside patio. Great patio, too. Food, service, and ambiance are available to the same degree in other restaurants, but the above is what sets this place apart. That and some interesting items on the menu.
It’s an indoor/outdoor restaurant so they have garage doors that they open during nicer weather. Which is great until there’s no fans in the back of the restaurant for air flow, and you’re literally dripping sweat.
ALL SERVERS DID A GREAT JOB, LOOK FOR THANK YOU CARD TO OUR WAITRESS
Food bad service bad drinks bad
Great food and atmosphere
We had a reservation and waited 45 minutes for a table! ugh!!! Other than that it was good!
Cocobolos was a complete disappointment. When this restaurant first opened it was awesome, classy, busy, delicious drinks and food. Now unfortunately it’s the opposite. Full of flies, very dirty, the food was horrible. The staff not trained to wait on people. Overall awful, couldn’t wait to get the check and leave. Ordered food, didn’t eat it. It was disgusting. We paid for it didn’t complain also left a 20% tip but we will never go back. Just awful.

Sunday afternoon on their patio with drinks and tacos… great way to spend a lazy Sunday! Jesus was a good server and the food and drinks ( house margarita & beer) were good too. I wouldn’t say the total experience was outstanding or amazing but definitely decent.
Really good food….reservation requests were accommodated
Thank you so much for the visit and the review on open table!
Very unhappy with the service. Had to ask 3 times for my alcoholic beverage. Sat for awhile with no refills on water and chips/salsa. The food wasn't worth the money. Won't be going back.
Everything was fine except it is extremely noisy. Hard to converse. I am OK with active places but this was too loud.
The food was great and happy hour is amazing. Highly recommend the Coco Bolo!
We had a great time and the food was excellent.
Thank you so much for the visit and for the 5 star review! We really appreciate guest like you and we look forward to the next time you come see us again!
Cocobolos has the best happy hour and best ambiance in the South OP area in my opinion. We ordered the black & white pizza and the chicken fajita quesadilla and both were excellent. My margarita was a little on the sweeter side and low on the alcohol content than I like but not terrible for the $5 price tag. Our server was friendlier than some we've had in the past so this was a good experience overall.
Thank you SO much for the awesome review! We really appreciate the kind words and for your visit! -The Coco Bolos Team
Went for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. 3 of us were seated first and 2 joined later. The 2 that joined were not greeted in a timely fashion and had to wave down waitress for drink order. The 2 also never received any menus, silverware or waters. Server would drop off items and immediately leave without asking if we needed anything else. We had to wave someone down every time we needed something. No music and no energy in the restaurant made it a dull experience. Also specifically mentioned in the reservation that it was a 51st B-Day lunch and another guest mentioned it to the server. No Happy Birthday, no nothing! Super disappointed!!!
Natalie, I'm so sorry you were not served properly and received the attention you should of. We strive to be the best and are very disappointed that was not reflected the time you came in. If you can please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what we can do for you. We really value this feedback and hope we hear from you soon. -Liz and the team at Coco Bolos
Overall bad experience. Asked the waiter to relate my vegetables and rice on my fajita for rice. To which she responded she could easily do. I was shocked and responded to find out that it ended up being 4 extra dollars for a fry that was supposed to be replaced. Additionally, when I received my chicken fajita I was disappointed to find out that there were only 6 measly pieces of chicken. I called the waiter over and instead of fixing the problem she said she would ask the kitchen staff about it and never ended up coming back. Should have been a quick and easy fix on the waiters part and should have never been sent out of the kitchen looking like that.
