Cochon on 2nd
Whether you’re planning a family dinner, a night out with friends, or a gastronomy treat for out-of-town guests, we believe Cochon on 2nd will become your favorite dining destination.
Chef and staff were excellent as usual. They were ready for us and the birthday celebration was wonderful!
We had a difficult evening with our server, who we have had before, but something seemed to be amiss this evening. Our guests were very upset and asked us to request we never have this waitstaff again. It was unpleasant. I hate to say something, but maybe there was something very upsetting for the waiter. If so, we all have a bad night.
Amazing food. Server Jesse was fantastic. We'll be back!
The food was excellent. The restaurant was very busy and our table was a few minutes late getting free but we had seats at the very busy bar while we waited. I would say that the menu was more American than French but I was not disappointed with it. Our waitress, Ragon, was exceptional. I definitely would recommend and we will return again!
Fantastic meal and equally superior service
Delicious food and great service. We were seated in front of the open kitchen and were able to view the interactions (entertaining!) between the chefs and servers. The rockfish and salmon entrees with accompanying sauces were delicious. The scalloped potatoes had a very cheesy crust on top. Our server was very cheery and helpful.
My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day at Cochon. Once we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted and then seated. We were just given the drinks menu and I thought that the wait staff forgot the dinner menus. The server stated that they do not want to rush their patrons so they just provide the drink menus and once we had our drinks, they provide the dinner menus. What a change from dining in other restaurants where they want you out for the next table. Dinner was wonderful. My husband got the filet which he stated was the most tender and flavorful filet he had. I had the pork chop which was seasoned perfectly and tender. For dessert, we had the chocolate pate and creme brulee which was just as outstanding. The food and service were impeccable. This was our second time there and it did not disappoint.
It’s our favorite restaurant.....the food is always fabulous!!!
Great cocktails, beautiful menu. Server was charming but overbooked. Did dad delicious, but stuck skin was not crispy and dessert could have been awesome with more icecream. Will definitely go back, but maybe not on a busy day.
We had the sweet onion soup, firecracker shrimp and salad special with crab cakes. Excellent choices for a lunch at our favorite restaurant!
Great food, attention to detail, and an awesome staff. Perfect dinner (as always) sitting next to a warm fire on an ugly weather evening. Thank you Neil, Melissa, Niki, and David, you guys are the best. See you again soon!
Amazing dinning experience! The details on everything truly impressed me! The place is cozy, open and it felt like stepping into a French Restaurant in France! The food was amazing, delicious, magnifiqué!
What we loved the most was the friendly staff, the owner is the chef, and he was just as amazing as the place, friendly, talented and easy to talk to!
I will go back as Cochon has become one of my faves!
As always Cochon never disappoints. Celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. Presentation is beautiful. The potato dish was as good as it was the first time we ever dined. Big beautiful plates with a wonderful 50 dry aged steak, and Berkshire pork chop;had to take home for the next day. Still ordered the crème brûlée b/c we couldn’t leave without dessert. The kitchen is a well oiled machine and wait staff top notch! Love this restaurant. Thank you Chef Griggs for our special occasion dinner!!!
Great food. Chris was so knowledgeable.
A great place to celebrate my friend's birthday with a relaxed and relaxing lunch. I've already made reservations to go back with friends on Valentine's weekend (the 14th was booked, but we're flexible).
Four of the five members of our dinner party had Cochon's signature Pork Chop entree. We all agreed that the pork chops were all somewhat dry and frankly not very flavorful. Given the $40 entree price we were expecting better.
My wife and I were there three months ago and the entree menu was, for the most part, unchanged from then. Given the very limited number of entrees we found the lack of menu rotation disappointing. To make matters worse, we were told that they were already out of their fish entree - at 7:00 PM!
While the visual ambience is quite nice, the noise level is quite high which was also disappointing. Overall a mediocre experience for a rather pricy restaurant.
Not a place to eat every day because of the price, but worth the special occasions. The ambiance of the dining room was beautiful; the food was delish, our waitress was very attentive.
Several friends joined my husband and I for a lovely dinner. Adding 2 xtra to our reservation was accommodated which we appreciated.
Cochon has to be one of the best, if not the best restaurants in the Williamsburg area. Our expectations have always been met and exceeded
Excellent restaurant. Chef/owner very involved with the customers. A little expensive but any restaurant this good has the right to a decent return on their efforts.
Delicious food, solicitous service, and warm ambience. One of my favorite places in Williamsburg for any occasion.
The food and service was exceptional. Best crab cakes I have ever eaten!
Our third year dining there on our spa weekend. 3 of our meals were excellent but the 4th was rockfish and tasted fishy vs fresh fish taste but well prepared. Desserts were delish
In town for a conference and wanted to try a venue for the first time. I called prior to our reservation and they were very gracious to accommodate our travel delay and pushed back our reservation time.
Upon arrival we started with wine and a specialty martini, unwinding from our travel and leading into a culinary adventure.
Now, the food is outstanding. We ate way too much as we wanted to try as much as possible since it all sounded so good. Bottom line, it was. Shrimp app, duck sausage taco app, duck breast, rockfish, bread pudding w/hm ice cream! Wine btg gave ample opportunity to have red and white.
The decor is unique, attractive, thought provoking and yet soothing and complementary to the level of cuisine. We will definitely return and encourage others to make Cochon a destination. There's a nice bar area as well...
Absolutely the best restaurant in Williamsburg. Chris, our waiter was very knowledgeable and great.
Cochon delivered an excellent dinner for our special birthday.
Excellent menu and service
Excellent food, just wish we lived closer! We were there for the New Year's Eve 2020 celebration. It was also our wedding anniversary and they made everything so special for us!
New Year’s Eve was wonderful. The food, atmosphere, service and accommodations were superb!! Could not think of a better place to spend the evening.
Our true favorite. Exceptional food, service and all around quality experience.
Lamb was too salty. They did provide another lamb dish but still charged us for it. My wife waited for the lamb to be done while the rest of us already finished our meal. Price is too high for the food, way overpriced. $36 for scallops is excessive. I don’t think their prices were this high in the past.
Fabulous restaurant, service and food superb, definitely will be coming back
Outstanding on every level, Chris (with the Beard) was our server and truly a professional, Great Host with recommendations...I cannot do justice in describing the meal other than from start to finish it was a dining pleasure.
Excellent service and the food was great!
There were not enough staff in the kitchen. Service between courses was slow and waits between courses induced occasional boredom.
Excellent in every way. My wife and I travelled from Texas to spend Christmas in Williamsburg and Cochon was a memorable part of the holiday experience.
We experienced quite a lag waiting for our drinks to be served. After that, things ran smoothly.
Great ambience and our server was fantastic, but the food took way too long to arrive. We waited quite a while for each course — (including soup) — but especially the entrees. The food was good, but not worth the price.
Great new spot for us, and a can’t miss recommendation. Came highly rated and didn’t disappoint. Awesome entrees, salads, and apps. Beef Tenderloin was perfect and Salmon was as good as it gets. One highlight was the Scalloped Potatoes au Gratin— as great a “side” as you’ll ever get. Service superb, and atmosphere cozy and romantic. We’ll
definitely go back whenever we’re in Williamsburg. Great job to the Chef and staff.
My sister in laws $55 steak was chewy. She sent it back and was given a filet which was much better. At $55 for a steak that should have been tender, it was so over priced. Feel this restaurant’s quality of cooking has gone way down while it remains pricy for this inferior quality. We won’t be back and have heard this from others.
