Cleo - Hollywood
Our food was delicious- great shareable meal with choices for everyone!
The drinks were delicious, the food was fried and crunchy, and the experience was fantastic. We told the waitress we had to leave for a show and she made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy our dinner
Wonderful place for a date or special occasion. This location good for pre-Theater dining. The food was very good with a very good variety of selections. The taste and presentation was very good. Service was excellent.
The waitress and servers were attentive and courteous but the kitchen was extremely slow getting out food. We ordered several appetizers and one crispy chicken entree, letting the staff know we had Pantages show tickets and a one-hour deadline to meet. The drinks arrived promptly as did the oysters (no cooking required) but the cooked appetizers took about 30 minutes and it took over 50 minutes for the single chicken entree to arrive. The entree was a small drumstick and thigh, with scattered decorative herbs, making the portion more of an appetizer than a meal. Luckily we weren't very hungry. There were few people in the restaurant on a Thursday night so perhaps the kitchen was understaffed. I would go back for light appetizers and drinks but look elsewhere for a hearty meal and conversation. It was surprising loud in our corner for the few people filling less than half the tables. Might be unbearably loud with a full house.
Nothing monumental about the restaurant. Pretty noisy and poor service. Not a great value for money option. I don't think it's worth going for a full meal experience. It's only okay for a couple of drinks with some pita and dips. The service was not even mediocre.
Thank you for the nice evening
Paella was absolutely delicious and service was amazing
After many visits to the old Cleo we were happy to see this location re-open. The menu, while modified, is still consistently excellent. Service was pleasant and accommodating but off — some small plates came first, followed by our overpriced drinks, followed by all the other courses, and finally our olives and pickles arrived last.
The valet, at $20, is one of the biggest ripoffs on earth. I cannot recall paying such an exorbitant rate even at places that are far swankier and in busier locations. To pay that at Hollywood and Vine is a joke and the main reason we will not return.
The food was great, but took a little long once we ordered. Brussel sprouts and Mediterranean dips with fresh baked pita were amazing, and the steak kabob was perfectly cooked. We’d skip the rice, potatoes and chicken kabobs next time and try something new. Would have loved to try a salad, but the Greek we ordered never came. Old fashioned’s were also delicious!
It was a little to dark in the dinning area. It was hard to see our food
Before the remodel, we were great fans. This is our first time back and we usually go when we go to the Pantages, so 5-6 times a year. Food was good although the choices are now much smaller than they were. Service was anything but good. Some of the wait staff had an attitude. Impatience when asking menu questions is not pretty. My wife finished her glass of wine and rather than ask her if she wanted another, the waitress just picked up the glass. We had to ask someone bussing tables to find her to order another it tok quite a while to find her. We were there early so it wasn't like they were crowded. I don't know what changed but the change is sad.
Food was disappointing. Our fried eggplant was way too oily and inedible when the dish was less the hot. Other dishes were good, but none too exciting. Maybe the oily eggplants appetizer spoiled the meal.
The food was good. Except they ran out of salmon on a Wednesday night at 5:30 pm. Hmmm. Also, it just seems like their silverware, plates and drinking glasses were not the cleanest.
Overall the food is definitely good. The place is really pretty and the staff was helpful and nice. It was just really pricey for what it is. We had a party of 8 and our bill was 455$ (included gratuity) and I just don’t think it was a good price for what it was. Portions are small (tapas style) so you end up ordering way more dishes which adds up. It was nice to get the free glass of wine when you check in on yelp :)
Food was great, service was fabulous. It’s a bit loud for conversation.
Great food, but watch out for parking. Downgraded the review because Cleo's doesn't have parking so you have to hunt for it unless you want to pay the hotel price of $20 for the time you dine there! Otherwise, it's great food and a great menu since it re-opened.
It was okay
The food was amazing. The waitress gave some recommendations and she was not wrong at all. The pita freshly baked with Rosemary was to die for, so good, could not get enough. Great vibe and excellent food. I will be going again.
First time here and loved it. Very convenient to get to the Pantages and they give a discount to theatre goers. Food was delicious. The Turkish flatbread and grilled octopus was some of our favorites. Great creative cocktails and fab service. Will definitely be back!
They asked for our allergies and recommended dishes for it and gave us a dish two peolle were allergic to. They are it and got sick and they give me a gift card for one entree
Wonderful dinner! Delicious food. Perfect place for dinner!
Food is amazing! The ambience is superb. I love coming to Cleo, both location. But one thing that is consistent every time, is the slow service. Not the food, that comes to you quick but the waiting for your server to come to you. When the manager bring you the drinks and apologizes for the delay at both locations on three separate occasions, then it may be an issue. But nevertheless, I WILL be going there again. The food is delicious!
I threw my girlfriend's birthday here and we had an absolutely lovely time! I can't remember our waiter's name (he had glasses) but was incredible throughout our whole dinner experience. The food was amazing and Cleo's has one of the best paella's in the city. We had the Saffron Paella--the shrimp was juicy, the seafood was fresh, there were so many layers of flavor. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have a nice night out or celebrate special occasions.
We have been to this place several times before. Food was excellent and service was great. Since the reopening it’s not the same. Will not go back there. Too bad it was convenient location to have dinner before or after the theatre.
Excellent food and service, nice ambiance good cocktails.. great for pre theatre
I was so excited to revisit this restaurant after their reopening but I was sadly disappointed. First of all, the service was not very attentive. We had to ask repeatedly for simple things like water, another drink, etc. Our waiter took our order and we never saw him again until he brought the bill. My meal was served a good 10 mins before my sister's and when she was served - the kabobs were over done and tough. We ordered the hummus appetizer which featured three different dips but only 3 pieces of pita. We asked for more pita and were charged $5. For the price, I am hesitant to visit again.
The service was ok. Had to keep asking for water and little things. But the food was way too salty. I’m one to cook with salt but the cauliflower, calamari, and Greek fries had soo much salt we couldn’t finish eating them. The prices are very high for the quality. The cocktails are good but not 17 dollars worth. Great place for groups but watch out for the salt. I wouldn’t come back.
We love Cleo. The food is great and the atmosphere fun. It’s too noisy to have an intimate discussion. Last night, some waiter or manager screamed at the top of his lungs to command everyone’s attention, disrupted their conversations and donning experience, and then had someone celebrating something break plates in the corner. It was ridiculous and super annoying. If this is a new thing, I’m going elsewhere.
Excellent service & great server recommendation to get a variety tapas style... resulting in great variety, & the food couldn’t have been better. Killer specialty (& smoky) cocktails. Very very loud, but still fun.
Best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten. Happy hour at the bar was awesome. The Vineberry cocktail was delicious. We had the broccoli, spicy cigars, lebenah with their pita bread baked in their oven. Awesome. Can't wait to go back.
Food is good but not spectacular for the price . Some items were really excellent like the Brussels sprouts and octopus . Most items were tasty but expected more flavor .
Great service , delicious tapas and dessert. Disappointed in the new menu vs the old one
Great food. Pretty crowded before the show but right across the street so pretty convenient. Would definitely go again.
Cleo used to be our favorite restaurant. We went on many occasions as we knew it would always be consistent and a great time. It had shut down for renovation of the building for a while and when we saw that it was open again we were thrilled to go and bring some close friends that hadn’t been there before. Needless to say it wasn’t what we were expecting. Some big fan favorites were taken off the menu, for drinks and food.
The menu was once well balanced, now seemed forced and shrunk.
The new drinks lacked the complexity of the previous drink menu.
The food was decent, but not as good as in the past.
Very sad that this once Hollywood staple has diminished in quality and what it once was.
I can’t foresee returning as it was way over priced. A chicken skewer (one) is $18?? It was delicious but they used to offer smaller ones as it was for sharing. I was embarrassed for having taken our friends there.
I hope they can convince past staff and team to return to help turn it around. I don’t see it surviving a competitive LA restaurant market.
First time here since the remodel. It’s nice! Seats are still really close though 😳 We arrived early and had great service, then it got busy and the service disappeared. Food was very good! We had the crispy cauliflower, beet salad and beef kabobs- fabulous! Wine was ok, but the pours were very stingy 😢 Sticky toffee pudding, not so sticky - the biggest disappointment. Over all a good dinner option before a show.
Why in the world would you change your menu? No lamb burgers and no Naan bread! Loved this restaurant and would frequent it often before going to Pantages for a show. Well those days are gone along with their spectacular food. Service was ok but again nothing of what it used to be. Sad to see such a wonderful restaurant plunge so quickly after the remodel.
While the food was good, the service was abysmal. Never got one of our appetizers, waiter was told and still no app. He never came by to ask if we wanted a second drink. And no one refreshed our water throughout the meal. I won’t go back.
First time since remodel reopening. Very very loud. Menu much less diverse and less interesting. Food still very good.
Bastardized version of Mediterranean. New menu is nothing like the old Cleo.
Came for dinner before watching a show at the Pantages Theater. The ambiance was nice, the food was very good (but the portions are small), the service was excellent, the prices were a little high, but you get a 15% discount if you're going to see a show at the Pantages. Overall a good place to have a nice quiet dinner before the show. I recommend it!
