Cleaver & Cork Ratings and Reviews
We really enjoyed our food. We started out with the burnt ends Mac and cheese...you know, because we were in KC. It was delicious! We also shared the savory smoked ribeye. It was heavily marbled and so yummy! The service was efficient and friendly. The place is just really cool.
The waitress was very good and offered recommendations for all courses. The cheese curds and sausage soup was very tasty. My husband ordered the chicken and stated that it was very tasty. I ordered the mussels and they were horrible. There were some mussels that had already opened and the meat was gone. The sauce was very oily and not at all what I expected nor wanted. The waitress took the mussels off our bill and offered us a free dessert. We ordered the butter pecan ice cream. It was just ok.
It was a busy night. However even when busy I think a drink refil is not asking the extreme. We were there almost 2 hours. Food was good. But we had to ask several times for drink refills that never came. We are talking tea and water. After three courses we asked for our ticket as we had plans. We waited...then asked several more employees including what I assume was a manager. After begging for 30 minutes we had to go to the bar and tell them we simply had to play now and go.
Wow! Excellent service by Antonio, he went beyond our expectations. Very courteous and knowledgable on the menu! The food was very tasty and interesting menu with great combination of flavors. We wanted to taste everything , we couldn't , so we defenitely will havdcto come back many times.
The ambiance and decoration of the restaurant makes you feel at home.
Very disappointing. It's a beautiful place with an impressive menu, however the food was good not great. The cocktails are served in the smallest glasses ever. The martini glass looks like it should be an ornament. For the cost of $200 for the 3 of us, not worth it. Despite the restaurant only being 25 percent occupied, the service was poor. Cocktails were served after we finished our appetizer and wine was served half way through eating our entree. When I asked the waiter for a recommendation of wine for my friend who likes a sweeter wine, something akin to a riesling... he snottily suggest prosecco. Just not necessary. Not everyone is a wine aficiando and this was a special night for her.
went to C & C for my anniversary. Food and atmosphere were excellent, but the service put the experience over the top. I can't remember server's name, but he was extremely knowledgeable about the food and went out of the way to make our evening special. I have already recommmednded C&C to anyone who mentions food.
The food was fantastic and the meal sizes were very large. I couldn't possibly eat it all. Our server was enthusiastic and had pride in his work. My husband especially loved his drink-old fashioned. The live music was great and I loved the decor. My only complaint was it was FREEZING at our table, we were right under a vent and I could hardly stand it. This is a must visit, especially for P&L.
Located in the Power & Light District, this restaurant is in a bustling area. I didn't expect to get a reservation as quickly as I did for 4 adults, it ended up being at the start of their busiest hours. It only got too loud around the time we were waiting for the check, after a large family was seated next to us (no little kids, just obnoxious preteens +adults). Our server was attentive, and very nice, she didn't hesitate with the recommendations, just didn't have any advise on what we may not like, after we asked. The appetizers were good (a smoked chicken & cheese dip, served with crusty bread, being the favorite); One of my friends got the spring rolls for her meal & they were good; Another got a burger & it was really good; My meal (beef tenderloin, mushrooms & cheesy fingerling potatoes) was delicious and well proportioned; My other friend's meal was tasty but small, he got the scallops with a sweet potato tart - there were 3 scallops, and the potato tart was underseasoned, as well as about the size of a deck of cards, with nothing else but a scattering of greens. After the meals were finished between us we had room for dessert, and the creme brulee was awesome. For the celebration of an occasion (it was my b-day) it was well worth the expense - for everyday, it was pricey, but without special drinks and a dessert, I would eat here any day of the week!
The food was mediocre at best. The service was awful... Our waiter was slow and forgot several items and needed to be reminded multiple times. We ordered desert only to find that one item wasn't available. Coffee was delivered without cream or sugar (or an offer to get it). Dirty main course plates were left on the table even as the final bill arrived. The waiter was unapologetic, despite having only 2 tables to wait on.
It was a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Our sever was Emily and she was wonderful, knowledgeable and her recommendations for our meal were spot on. The food is locally sourced and prepared with great care. Portions are ample...you'll have leftovers. Enjoy. We will go back. This was a pleasant surprise in the power and light district.
It's overpriced but that was expected being in the KC Live area of P&L. A little problem with the food (steak cooked wrong and missing menu items) but the server did a nice job trying to help. It was VERY loud in the packed restaurant and then they had a musician start playing guitar. If I'm having an expensive meal, I'd like to talk to my dinner date. This place had a cool look and the bar area was huge. Come here for drinks, maybe a pricey appetizer or two but pass for dinner. You'd be better off having dinner at Bristol or 801.
The food here is fantastic! We went prior to a concert and had the barbecue egg rolls as our appetizer. For the main course thes scallops pictured with prosciutto, Swiss chard, sweet potato hash and balsamic vinegar. It was incredible!!! Our server was Antonio. He was very friendly and provided exceptional service.
We went to Cleaver & Corks to celebrate our anniversary! It was our first time there. The food was amazing and our server Tony was exceptional! We asked for suggestions and he was full of knowledge when explaining the menu items with a wonderful personality! We will be back!!
I brought a business client to Cleaver and Cork and I'm sorry to say that our service was less than I would expect. The restaurant did not seem overly busy yet we were not offered a refill on our wine until we asked for one after our left over food items had been boxed up. They were also out of a local beer favorite which my out-of-town guest would have preferred. After placing my credit card on the table for at least 10 minutes I had to notify the hostess to try to get our check. We noticed that another table next to us had also been waiting for their check for an extended period of time.
With the amount of restaurant choices at Power and Light, I will probably not take clients back here and run the risk of poor service again
My daughter and I ate here Friday before a concert because we could get a reservation. Our server, Alex, was friendly and helpful. He even had our salad split on two separate plates because we shared the salad and the entree. We each had our own dessert. All the food was delicious! Cost was in line with Yard House and Drunken Fish (two other restaurants we'd considered). Classy atmosphere. We were able to chat without raising our voices. This place is like a best kept secret!
A couple friends and I decided to grab a bite to eat and have some cocktails before going to a concert. We stayed much longer than anticipated! Our waiter was top-notch, engaging in conversation regarding the menu and such. The food and drinks were excellent! Definitely will make sure to return soon and have already hyped it up to friends.
