Traditional Lasagna with 'Beyond' Ragout, vegan Béchamel
lightly fried calamari and zucchini served with arrabiata sauce & aioli
We weny there specifically for the vegan options on the menu. It’s my third time there and it was as good as always. We had vegan mozzarella sticks, vegan lasagna and ravioli and finished off with a vegan tiramisu. Everything was delicious and service was on point. Thank you!
Our sever was so amazing. She was super busy but took the time to help us with all our various dietary restrictions (gf, vegan), didn’t rush us at all, and was just so nice and helpful. The food was fantastic. we all had an amazing time and we’ll definitely be back. We appreciate you having something on your menu for everyone and the service was the best we have had in San Diego
It was a nice place, but the food was not that good.
Great little authentic Italian restaurant. It is casual; very comfortable attire. Food was delicious and more than reasonably priced with exceptional service. Great place to dine anytime of the day. We will continue to eat there often.
Warm bread and oil was complementary and was so good!!
For appetizer we got the vegan caprese salad, the cheese was so fresh and delicious. My mom got the fish plate, a little big over cooked but she liked it and I got the vegan ravioli (it was scrumptious).
For dessert I got the pistachio ice cream with the expresso shot on top and it was SO YUMMY.
Catarina our waitress was the sweetest!!!
Thank you for having a vegan menu!
Overall it was pretty good experience. The outdoor seating could be more appealing with some kind of table decor or ambient lighting. Service was good, but could have been attentive to traditional Italian offerings of parmesan cheese on pasta etc... once food arrived.. Carpaccico appetizer was amazing but, meatball and ravioli was just...good.
Friends pickup in San Diego
If you can get a table in Baran’s section… you’ll be in for a wonderful evening!
Overall a decent experience for a touristy area. The gnocchi and ravioli both vegan options were tasty enough. The salads were alright nothing special. Dessert tirimasu was good but small. Skip the vegan cannoli. In general expected better
It was a very busy night over Labor day weekend. Fortunately we had a reservation and got seated promptly. The restaurant manager, Elia, always goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. Thank you Elia!
Fantastic service, tasty food
Located in the heart of Little Italy, the ambiance was lacking. Outdoor seating was very dated. Our server was adorable and very helpful with the menu. We felt the pasta choices were lacking. My pomodoro salad was unfortunately tasteless. The salmon was just ok.
We had a party of 3 and were sat at a table for 2. We couldn’t even put our water and wine glasses all on it nevermind food plates. After asking, we were moved to a table outside on a 30 degree tilt and had to lean our glasses against the railing. Completely ridiculous. Apps were good. Entrees just average. Won’t go back seeing as India street is filled with amazing restaurants without such ridiculous things to deal with
Everytime I go the food is slightly on the cooler side in temperature, but it always tastes amazing.
Not enough vegetables on the menu. Drinks (alcoholic) were not as good as expected. Service was great. Food was good but not outstanding. Experience was a bit disappointing overall. I have been to the downtown location and it was much superior.
Always consistently good food and service. The dipping sauce and bread are worth going for alone!
We had salmon, delicious. Although we didn't care for the green risotto under it, not very appealing and too salty. Our other shared dish was the paprdelle with short rib Ragu; excellent.
We sat outside and enjoyed people watching on a beautiful evening. Service was great; server checked in often and Orr water carafe was filled.
Amazing food and fantastic service. The short rib pappardelle is ridiculously delicious.
Wasn’t sure about the restaurant because it has very mixed reviews on YELP. The service was good, and the food was really good. Would definitely go back again—don’t know why the bad reviews on YELP. Short rib pasta was delicious! Squash blossoms, calamari, and their focaccia with basil olive were also very delicious. Parking situation looked a little crazy so take a car service.
Civico was recommended on YouTube as one of the restaurants to visit in Little Italy. Luckily, we shared a chicken marsala plate. We were very disappointed. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The roasted vegetables were good. The server never asked if we liked the food. We did not complain and just paid the bill.
Excellent customer service! Delicious, thoughtfully prepared food.
Server was amazing. Food was great. Would highly recommend.
Overall I loved the menu and the vegan Italian options. That said, my ravioli with pink sauce was sweet and didn’t taste like vodka sauce. A bit disappointing.
Excellent service, ambience and overall experience. Incredible food that came out in a timely fashion. The house bread is freaking perfect. Also they have a full vegan menu that will amaze any vegan and non vegan.
Perfect simple meal, great food, service, and value
Very thankful that they have a robust vegan menu across all courses.
Wasn’t a great spot for a special occasion. Everything felt rushed and transactional. The food was pretty good, but it was clear we were a table that needed to be churched out quickly. Overall, we were bummed we chose to celebrate our anniversary here.
Place was kinda meh. I didn’t feel like we were greeted with the right level of enthusiasm. I got a “oh you’re here, what do you want from me” kind of vibe. Service was slow, maybe they were understaffed. It was much better when you’d just go up to them and asked for what you wanted. Steak was sub par, but I guess $25 gets Ralph quality steaks at intern level cooking proficiency. It was good that they had many vegan choices, which we really enjoyed at our table. Risotto was under seasoned. Recommend? Probably not. But if you’re hungry and every restaurant you’ve walked past in little Italy is fully booked (and you don’t want Shake Shack), I guess this will do just fine.
Outdoor dining in little Italy was nice. Multiple vegan options which were very tasty.
My lasagna came out cold
OUTSTANDING service, ambiance and most importantly food. There are many gluten free and vegan options. I HIGHLY recommend the vegan ravioli because it is the GOD of all ravioli I’ve ever had. The bread is also INSANE and the vegan cheese was very good, if they sold it I would buy it in bulk. Also, the mushrooms with the cheese sticks were so yummy and unlike anything I’ve had before. Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone.
Found this restaurant on Eater San Diego. Parking can be a challenge on the weekend. Service was very good. Our waiter was very accommodating. Food was just OK. Ordered the eggplant appetizer. Way too much salt. Other dishes were similarly over-salted. Was the Chef on a salt binge? The risotto, which is supposedly their signature dish, was average.
The vegan menu is amazing; we loved everything! The staff was gentle and helpful. We definitely will come back!
Our family of three ate on the outdoor patio next to the restaurant. It was a beautiful evening, the food was outstanding and the service very attentive. I would definitely eat there again!
Super fun spot with excellent food. Lovely staff. Would go back for sure.
We had a spectacular time! The drinks were out of this world and the food was immaculate! I would definitely come back again.
Great restaurant with vegan options.
About as close to and “authentic” Italian experience you can get in Little Italy. Besides the wine portions, order a bottle because the pours can be a bit skimpy.
Focaccia with basil oil is fantastic.
Frito misto is on the small side.
Popped in for a random Tuesday night dinner. We sat outside, so that affected the experience. Food was just okay but that might have been because we came in close to their closing hours, service was solid, I’ll return to try a few more dishes and experience the actual indoor restaurant (the street seating was not very comfortable). All staff were great!
Loved our experience here! Romantic atmosphere, exactly what we were looking for in our last dinner for our honeymoon in San Diego!
Everything was just OK, nothing poor and nothing outstanding. Some of the cheese and meats seemed to be a bit old. Very busy and mostly very courteous.
