lightly fried calamari and zucchini served with arrabiata sauce & aioli
Risotto Ai Funghi
cannaroli rice, wild mushrooms, parmigiano reggiano
With Little Italy accommodating for Civico to extend their outside dining added to a nice ambience during the necessity of separations.
The service was friendly and very good. Their menu has some excellent choices. We enjoyed our Italian wine with the homemade focaccia bread and pesto dipping sauce..We enjoyed the appetizer small zucchini filled with ricotta cheese. We had an excellent beet salad and our pasta dishes (pasta with eggplant and the pasta with the sausage) were both excellent!
All in all it was a very nice experience and so good to get out with the public and enjoy a special meal.
Our first trip out to a restaurant since they opened again. We were nervous. But the restaurant made us feel very comfortable and was following all the rules. It was a treat.
Vegan lasagna! Vegan ravioli! Vegan calamari! Vegan tiramisu! A whole vegan menu of deliciousness. If we didn’t live in Colorado, we’d visit this San Diego wonderplace weekly.
Great time and the vegan food was delicious!!!!
The waiter was very nice and helpful. He made excellent recommendations. All the food was so delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
I specifically picked this restaurant because they offer gluten free pasta and I was not disappointed! The food was absolutely magnificent. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and large portions. I was a little disappointed that the restaurant only offers wine and beer as I am a cocktail drinker. Our server told us that they are going to serve liquor in the near future. If you have never been to Little Italy in San Diego, this is a great place to start.
Fun and vibrant restaurant. Great service and wonderful food.
What a great restaurant!!
What a fun experience. We sat at the bar next to a local gentleman who moved to the area to be near family. Our hilarious, expert bartender guided through the menu with aplomb. Over a well-priced Super Tuscan we enjoyed pasta and seafood. A lively atmosphere and friendly staff made this a meal to remember. There are a lot of restaurants in Little Italy, San Diego, Republic of California, but our this one at or near the top of your list.
The food was amazing as were the vegan dishes. two of use had the vegan plates which were exceptional and the other had a dish of the regular menu which was also very good. Looking forward to coming back again!
We were looking for a nice Italian restaurant and chose Civico's basically from the reviews. We were not disappointed. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere was great and the food was wonderful. If I'm ever back in the area, I will be going again.
We suggest some noise mitigation. Very loud but otherwise outstanding.
Great food. The negatives were being served our pasta whilst still eating our salad, and the (very high) noise level.
Food is good but a little pricey. Service and ambiance are great. Parking and traffic are a challenge especially on the weekend. They do offer a full vegan menu which was helpful to one member of our party.
One of my bosses took me out for a belated birthday dinner. What a wonderful meal, ambiance and the food was delicious. The Salmon is so tender and juicy it practically melts in your mouth. To top off the beyond deliciousness was a gluten free desert. I was absolutely shocked at the taste, texture and chocolaty smooth center of this cake type treat. It comes with Gelato which was equally tasty. I'd highly recommend going at least 1 time, after that, you'll more than likely be returning!!!!!!! Thank you all for making great food, satisfied customers and being sneaky about surprising me with the desert.
My girlfriend and I are vegans and we were looking forward to eating here for awhile. Our first experience overall was great. The service was warm, friendly, professional and attentive. The food was amazing. Our only complaint was we made reservations and arrived early to get good seating but, we got seated near the door which was drafty, noisy and the seats are not very comfortable. I recommend sitting in the room to the left away from the main entrance.
Food tastes great! Would hope the Linguine Alla Pescatora have more pasta with it (generous amount of seafood!)
Service was disappointing. Felt hurried to order drinks within 5 minutes of sitting down. Somebody from our party of 6 requires a gluten-free diet and gluten-free pasta is available as an option on the main menu. Apparently, there’s a surcharge of $2 for gluten-free pasta which was not made clear at all on the menu or by our waiter. When asked if it was printed on the menu, the waiter replied yes, but then we checked the menu again the surcharge is nowhere to be found. Eventually, he said he would take the surcharge off but instead came back with a more expensive bill (errorneously) which we had to come back and amend the bill once again.
Also, we were visiting from the UK so not fully really accustomed to tipping culture. It’s weird for us to see a 18% gratuity is automatically added but not as an option during check out.
Food was extremely bland. My meal was warm, not hot and fresh. All the food tasted like it was pre-made and microwaved. Perhaps the worst value of any restaurant I have been to in a long time. Staff was friendly tho.
Very loud restaurant, we had a hard time hearing our conversation. Pasta, scallops, cheeses, etc. were are very good.
Really difficult to have a conversation; it was so loud. Food was very good. Service was good.
Great food, nice atmosphere but small tables close together.
Great food and kind server, though the hostesses were rude and disorganized.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and enjoy it each time we go it is a very lively place and it can get quite loud but you are still able to have a conversation. Reservations are definitely required otherwise he will be waiting in a very long line.
The servings were too little for the price. And the vegan options were mediocre. But overall the food and ambiance was really nice.
Really great Italian food in Little Italy.. Can't go wrong. Pasta is delicious and decent selection for everyone!
Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere. The noise was moderate because we sat outside but it wasn’t bad at all. We will be going back for sure!
Great food, good service
Civico is one of our favorite places. We are never disappointed!
We loved everything about Civico. Great service... great food ... we will definitely be coming back to try some more. Thanks Civico!!
Had to wait outside in the cold for 20 minutes to get seated. Noise level was barely tolerable; could not hear each other well enough to carry on an understandable conversation. Food was good. Prices good. Service was fast but very impersonal.
If you’re a vegan and want to scratch that itch that only Italian food can scratch....this is the place to do it. The lasagna and ravioli were incredible!
Civics 1845 is a pleasant dainty Italian restraint in the heart of little Italy. We were served bread with amazing oil to dip it in. That was to die for. Our appetizer was decently sized for 2 people and absolutely delicious. No complaints about our experience. Would 10/10 visit again
Great food, well prepared, and nice options for those who want Italian but have dietary restrictions.
Loved the vibe, trendy but with traditional food
We opted for an appetizer, shared pasta dish with garlic bread and had the cannoli
Unless you enjoy being sick feeling when you leave, the entrees are large enough to share ... left us more room for a bottle of wine and a drink later at another establishment since we were walking.
It’s LOUD. If you don’t like loud, you won’t like it
A reservation is a must... it’s very crowded ... we were there on a Monday !
I thought our waiter was abit too heavy hand in trying to up sell and seemed slightly snooty/pompous to be perfectly honest . the food was excellent so, meh.
I took my three adult nieces here for lunch. Our waiter was not only cute but very nice and personable too. He made eye contact with every single person as he was explaining the specials and the menu. He and the wait staff were very attentive to refilling our water, making sure our gluten free options were correct, and even gave us a free dessert when one of the soups didn't come out with the other. Totally unnecessary but a very kind gesture. The food was excellent! Probably the best GF pasta I have had in a restaurant. The dessert he brought was carefully selected as a GF item as well. I would recommend this place!
Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was excellent. Noise level was okay. A large group was seated behind us toward the end of the meal so having conversation became a little difficult.
Good location in Little Italy. Parking is always a challenge. Will go again.
The noise level prohibited any attempt at easy conversation. It was awful because of hard surfaces everywhere. Nothing of the several food choices ordered among the 5 of us was bad, but nothing was particularly noteworthy either. Service was excellent.
