Great food, good service but nothing spectacular
We were expecting more...a little disappointed in the meal. Our server was pleasant and attentive, but main course came out extremely slow...the pasta/sauce was just okay. Caesar salad was okay.
Our first visit to the Civico 1845 was divine--the ambiance was very nice and the food was delicious and divine--some of the best Italian I have ever had! There is patio and indoor seating. Great wine options. For those like me who are not savvy on authentic Italian dish descriptions--I used Google and our waiter gave me accurate suggestions on what may be best for my taste. Also, I eat gluten-free meals and the pappardelle was the best gluten-free version I have ever tasted. Definitely worth a dinner date!
Fantastic! Loved that they have Vegan options - which were delicious!
The food and service is exceptional. Always a pleasure to go there and enjoy the sights and sounds of Little Italy along with some of the best food in San Diego.
The food was delivered at different times and it was cold. It was tasty and a lively atmosphere, but the service and food temperature could have been better. The hostess was excellent and worked hard to get us seated right away even though they were busy.
It was really good! I loved the vegan lasagna and their vegan “calamari”! Everyone really enjoyed their meal and the ambiance was great. The food did take a really long time to come out though, and our waiter was a little sassy.
The food we had was absolutely amazing. It was a great experience.
A fine place to eat in Little Italy, a cut above the more well-known restaurants. Food is very good, if a little formulaic. Service is efficient and polite, if a little formulaic. Busy most evenings; definitely make a reservation, since it's a small place.
Amazing. Went 2 nights in a row
Phenomenal! We were visiting from out of state. A local friend recommended Civico 1845, claiming they had the most authentic Italian food in San Diego. He was absolutely right. The lasagna special was the best we've ever had--flavorful, meaty--and the tiramisu was perfection--light and airy. The service was friendly but not overbearing.
Authentic and fabulous food.
We were recommended to Civico 1845 by a college friend of my daughter's. We really enjoyed it! The whole atmosphere in Little Italy was fun. The service was very good, although we didn't see our waiter much, others were very helpful. The food was delicious and the décor and ambience in the restaurant was great. We would definitely go back and would recommend!
The vegan options here are wonderful! It’s a great place for date night or a night out with friends.
Civico 1845 was an absolute stand out in San Diego restaurants. With both meat eaters and vegans catered for with full separate menus, this restaurant was a highlight to our trip to the area.
We love everything about Civico. Food, service, ambiance, price... We live most of the year in Lake Tahoe but eat at Civico every time we come home to SD.
What a wonderful menu. The pasta was melt in your mouth tender. Scallops were amazing. Even the Caesar salad with the shaved Parmesan was delicious. Tiramisu was maybe the best I have ever eaten, as was the cannoli. Well done! I will be back!
Civico 1845 is very good. We appreciate the vegan offerings and the bread/dip is fantastic. The tricolore salad was really good. The entrees were all good but nothing really stood out. Service was very uneven.
Went here for dinner for the first time and everything was wonderful! Our server was Marcello and he was very nice and helped us pick a bottle of wine that we all liked. All of the food was delicious, will definitely come back!
Seated quickly. Extremely nice service. Food was fabulous
Just an enjoyable meal and atmosphere. Could be one of the top 10 lasagna ever!
The ambiance of this restaurant is a mix of modern and rustic kitchen feel. I chose civico because they have a dedicated vegan menu which I really appreciate when going out to eat with friends and family. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to food allergies. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we had a lovely time!
Felt like a true Italian trattoria, delicious food, great wine selection, just right service for the type of lively place it is. Plus the location is great. Looking forward to going back!
Food was delicious. Service was great. A definite must.
Great for casual dining with really good food and service
Great staff! Authentic cuisine
Civicio 1845 is a must-visit location. The food is spot-on, with a well-paired wine selection. The Wait Staff is attentive, personable and assists in ensuring that your food selections meet your needs and expectations. Ciao.
Everything was wonderful but there was an acoustic guitarist in he courtyard who was too loud and made it difficult to hear and pulled away from our experience. Overall though, I will be back!!
Authentic cuisine. Molto bene!!!
Birthday Dinner. Great experience all the way around...Thanks !
We come here every time we travel from out of town-always very excited. On Thursday night we came out with some friends, celebrating a birthday and were unfortunately disappointed. To start off, we told our waitress that we love the fettuccini alfredo and she responded by telling us that the chef would not be very happy with us. A friend ordered the zucchini and was not what she expected, when she proceeded to tell our waitress, she was very short with us. Our pasta was very mediocre, not what we remember it being before :(
A friend recommended this restaurant highly. She was right on the mark! The food was great, and very authentic and homemade tasting. The service was great and the atmosphere was very unpretentious. We loved it, and would certainly return the next time we visit San Diego.
On the fence regarding Civico 1845. Two of the five of us were not impressed with the braised short ribs dishes. Brussels sprouts and calamari were great as was the service. Seems rather pricey for what you get.
Fantastic vegan menu available that even the car Javier’s enjoyed!
Too loud to talk & food was just OK. Would not recommend.
Best Vegan lasagna I’ve ever had!
Our overall dining experience at Civico was pretty good. I read multiple reviews that said this was the place to eat at when in Little Italy, so I got the whole family on board while on vacation and was excited to try it. The ambiance and decor were super chic but not all of the food lived up to the level of the decor. The wine was also wonderful but some of the pastas were dry and flavorless which was pretty disappointing. The PAPPARDELLE BRASATO was amazing but sadly that was not the pasta I had ordered. I got bites from the others at the table that ordered this pasta but I ordered a pasta that isn't on the online menu that had a "light cream sauce" which made the pasta dry and pretty flavorless. The homemade pasta beneath was good which made the pasta okay to eat, but some extra flavor and sauce would've made this dish much better. Overall, I may go back to try some other dishes but its never fun when you plan a meal for the whole family that leaves some feeling like they wished they had chosen a different location.
Great service, great food, great date spot.
Perfect afternoon with view of the Bay and ample people watching. Sit outside...and enjoy.
