Went here for our anniversary. Win some lose some. I had a steak which was good (not the best I have ever had, but no where near the worst). My wife had the crab cakes. She said they were "mushy". We lived in Maryland for a few years and know crab cakes are not supposed to be "mushy". I guess we should know better to order seafood at a steak house. Not likely to return.
Service was outstanding. Our server Lauren absolutely knows the menu and her recommendations were SPOT ON!! Thank you Lauren.
Overall good experience. Our service was great. The food was also great with the exception that both of our steaks were over cooked. We will definitely go back.
Good food, relaxing atmosphere, reasonably priced.
Anniversary dinner. Great food. I plan on visiting the next time we go to Greenville SC
Great and plentiful food and prompt and helpful service. However, the noise level with just the air conditioning was tolerable, and most people were conversing normally, but one ultra loudmouth was seated in a booth across from our table which helped expedite our exit. There's nothing you can do about that, though, and that's just the risk of eating in any restaurant.
Great place for a business lunch. Would recommend.
We went for restaurant week. I must have gluten free for my wheat allergy. They had scallops and grits on the restaurant week menu which was all gluten free even the sauce. It looked and tasted amazing. They even substituted the restaurant week dessert choices for a gluten free option. Excellent service everytime we have gone.
There was a large party that night which seemed to slow down service for everyone else. It was over an hour and 20 minutes from the time we were sat to the time that our meal was served.
Always a great place for my wifes birthday. She loves the menu especially the chicken.
The prices are creeping up, is the only negative.
Went for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. The music is nice but can be a bit loud making conversation difficult. Our best experience was our server--Liz was superb! Attentive, friendly, informative and helpful with selections, she made the experience memorable. The setting is attractive and comfortable with table and booth seating. A crab cake appetizer was ok but my wife thought it had a "fishy" taste (she is very particular about fresh seafood). Unfortunately, she then had a main course of crab cake which, again, had a similar taste. The prime rib was ok but not as good as some. Might want to stick with the breakfast offerings in the future.
When my sister visits from New York, Dhe always wants to go to City Range. She lives the Primd Rib.
Service was great. Food was ok, could have had more flavor/seasoning. The jazz band was awesome.
In town for a dog show and went to dinner with friends. Great appetizers. Excellent beer selection. GREAT waiter. Steaks were good and so was everything else including my sparkling wine.
A nice experience. Had the corn chowder as a starter followed by the burger. Spouse had a shrimp/pasta dish. The shrimp had a "fishy" taste so she did not enjoy it as much. All food otherwise good and a cut above many similar establishments. Our server was the outstanding part of the meal--Mark was attentive, fun, informative and never intrusive. The ambience is very pleasant and comfortable. Booth or table seating available. A bar also opens to an outdoor pavilion which is enclosed for a more pleasing setting than the view of the parking lot which would otherwise be visible. Will return.
Very good experience overall. Host stand sat my wife as I parked the vehicle we came in. When I came in she did not remember seating my wife who had just arrived. I waited for about 5 minutes before she realized that my wife had been sat and directed me to our table. Our server was very informative and bubbly. She had great knowledge of the menu and recommended what she thought would be great courses.
Family first visit to Greenville. Steak for Sunday brunch with live Jazz. Great food, service, atmosphere!
We rely on City Range for a wonderful meal at a very reasonable price. It never disappoints.
The filet was disappointing-gristle.
Food was slow to be served. Had to send back an undercooked piece of meat. My food was served cold
Eggs were over cooked - didn’t bring out the correct meal - had to have it returned twice.
The food, service and ambiance were, as usual, terrific. However, band was TOO loud and our group had to yell to tach other to be heard. Quiet themdown and I’m happy!
Had to ask for the missing ingredients for the salad. While waiting for the ingredient for the salad our main course arrived. Also desert said drizzled sauce however it only had 2 pin drops of drizzle. We have had the dessert before so we knew what to expect. Steak was great..
We go for lunch and always excellent. Lobster rolls are 5 star, just like the ones in New England. Clam chowder would be a great addition.
Good gluten free options
The food was delicious! The noise level was a little high for good conversation, but not unacceptable. The kitchen was very slow, and it wasn't crowded. When we alerted the hostess (who brought our entrees) that we had a time crunch, she apologized for the delay and gave a very generous discount. I will definitely give this restaurant another chance.
Made a reservation a week ahead of time for Father's Day. Restaurant was not crowded, was not checked on by server after appetizer delivered. Waited 40 minutes for food. All our meals were lukewarm/cold. Food was still tasty, but would certainly taste better if it was brought to the table when it was ready in the kitchen. I have had excellent experiences in the past, I am hoping this is an isolated event.
Great food as always. The service is always outstanding, and happy hour lasts the longest in town. Good place for all occasions.
Took my dad for Father’s Day lunch. I have always enjoyed City Range in the past but will never again go back for Father’s Day. It was chaotic, loud and straight stressful! Our waitress looked like she could use a stiff drink, one server actually sprinted across the restaurant. At one point the wall beside our booth began to repeatedly vibrate with a loud pounding noise as staff hurriedly moved stacks of chairs past us. The food was good and the prices great for Father’s Day but I would have happily paid more for a less stressful experience.
We were seated on time but after waiting ten minutes we had to ask if we had a waiter. They finally found him and it took for ever to get drinks. Food was very slow coming. Food only okay. Will not be going back anytime soon.
Excellent service always. The BEST lobster rolls this side of New England, kudos to Chef, beautifully prepared and presented.
The only disappointment with this restaurant was after renovation. Not fond of the dining seating which is too similar to 'diner' seating. Much preferred the cosier arrangement from before. Other than that I love City Range.
The entire experience was horrible. Will not return and will certainly not recommend.
Seating was perfect however the waiter was more concerned about getting his clean up work done than taking care of his duties; refills, patron needs etc. Complained that he was ready to get off bc he had “been there all day.”
The service was awful. Couldn't get refills and the server kept dissappearing. After our order arrived incorrectly, I ended up speaking to the manager who comped our meal. Definitely not going back. Overpriced for the food quality as well.
An excellent outing. Service and food were both top shelf. A great way for our group to celebrate 3 birthdays
Nice but subpar food
We are a small group with Fluor, and out of the seven people having lunch, we were celebrating four birthdays, two late May, and two early June. We all love to dine at City Range both for the food and the convenience to our work location. We come fairly often, and I don't think I've ever heard a complaint about the food or service. All the food yesterday was good, but everyone who ate your Brussels' Sprouts, raved about them. Also, I was not certain about the weather when I made the reservation, but when we asked at the door, the manager and wait staff were quick to wipe off the chairs so we could sit on the patio. The temperature was perfect for outside dining, we had the patio to ourselves, our server was pleasant and got all the orders delivered correctly, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back and will recommend your restaurant to others. In addition, we failed to get a receipt which we needed to complete an expense report for the meal; and when I stopped in today to ask for one, your manager on duty was very accommodating. Thank you. Great experience.
My wife ordered a filet medium with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. She received a filet....rare...with asparagus and baked potato. The food was delicious, but I’m not sure how you mess that up. My food was on point. And the Cremini mushrooms were amazing. Altogether, we could overlook the mistake because it’s one of our favorite places to go. First time that’s happened.
We left hungry. Took my mom there for her Mother's day dinner, and left there and went home and made something to eat. There were six of us and no one left satisfied. Our waiter seemed new so it took awhile for what little food we got to come out.
