Great value, reminded me of small places in NYC or Boston
Great service and wonderful surprise of dessert on the house for my son's 20th! Thank you. We will definitely be back.
Sunday Sugo ! 👍
Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum yum !!
This was not our first visit but maybe our last. Upon arriving we were seated at a four top that had three normal chairs and one small folding chair for one unfortunate diner. When my husband asked about finding a regular size chair as this one put you lower than the table the host rudely said "well other tables have it!" Then he proceeded to tell my husband that we needed to be out by 8:15pm. Not a great way to start a meal. Our service throughout the meal was subpar. Our friends ordered a bottle of Tuscan wine and the server brought a Californian wine. It was so dark in there it took him a while to notice the bottle was the wrong one. The host later bumped my elbow walking by and never said a thing. I was almost hit in the head by a incoming pizza. The energy was a little frantic by the staff. My meal was meh and while they did not kick us out at 8:15 and we ignored the lack of service and enjoyed our dinner with our friends that are moving away. It's really too bad. We have so enjoyed brunch here.
Upon being seated, the manager came over and told us they were booked solid and we had one and half hours to complete our meal.....really weird
This was our second time here. It might be our last, unfortunately. The noise level was just unacceptable, almost painful. We dined on a Saturday evening, at prime time, and really could not talk with our guests because of the noise. The restaurant staff are aware, as I mentioned it as we left. The floors are concrete and the ceilings are high. I hope management can get some professional help to figure out the sound mitigation. The food is good, simple options but prepared well. The menu isn’t large. Delicious pizza. It’s all about a tasty crust!
We love this place! Has a great neighborhood feel and vibe, with wonderful food, wine and staff. Note that a full house on a Saturday night can be a little bit on the loud side though.
Wonderful food. Good service.
Enjoyed our experience ... my first time, although my daughter and husband have dined here. Good choices and fresh pasta!
Worst service. We were told we needed to be done in 1hr 15mins when we were seated by the host. Pizza arrived uncut, pasta was over cooked. 32mins later we left.
Great place for a date night or family outing.
Excellent experience and wonderful food!
Valentines dinner was a very small Pre Fixe menu.
While tasty, it definitely was not worth $55/person.
Too expensive for what was little served, and we left hungry.
Went home and ate a sandwich.
We absolutely LOVE their regular menu and truly wish that had been offered.
Outstanding food & wine in a quaint neighborhood restaurant. Chipollina is a great romantic spot and a cool, casual, hangout all in one. Incredible pizzas, delicious entrees, and vegetables cooked to perfection. The fries are to die for & the wine list was fantastic!
Wonderful casual local West End Austin Italian restaurant! Consistently great!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Excellent food and service in a nice atmosphere! We have been here many times over the years and it never disappoints. Highly recommended.
The food, service and ambience are all terrific. However the noise level is so terribly loud that it's quite impossible to enjoy conversation with one's guests. We were quick to finish our meal and enjoy desert and after dinner drinks elsewhere.
Everything was good. I have had better Italian though. There were not a lot of choices on menu. Overall a good experience.
Never miss the chance to plumb the value of your Uber driver's local insights for fab food finds. While visiting Austin recently Uber dude Joshua recommended two tries: one for the not-to-be-missed local and tourist tradition, Perry's, for their "Porkchop Friday," and the second for a "Wow!-to-be-found" Cipollina, a locals-only spot. Thought I might have gone to the wrong place at first, as it is what the Lady terms an "unassuming" atmosphere. As soon as I tasted the "Arancini," which in Austin translate as risotto mushroom truffle balls (and, yes, they are exactly as yummy as they sound) I knew Joshua had sent me to a local gem. My waitress recommended the Aranzini, the brussle sprouts (& hallelujah there is a restaurant that makes sauteed brussel sprouts WITHOUT bacon! Cipollina makes their sprouts sauteed in olive oil shallots and herbs, so good) the red fish and...wait for it...the goat cheese cheesecake with thick cappuccino (not the watery stuff ). Each more pleasantly fresh, local and outstanding than the last bite. A bit on the dark lighting and loud side, but don't let that deter you. Step off the beaten path in Austin, and follow thevyellow brick road to uber-fresh, local takes on old favorites and new entrees you will appreciate Cipollina. Thanks Uber dude Joshua, the Lady salutes you and shall return to Cipollina.
Cipollina was amazing yet again! Service was as close to perfect as is possible. The Short Rib Oso Buco was fantastic - I’d not tried it prior. My son had margarita pizza which is always great. I recommend both highly. I’ll be back soon.
The meatballs were mediocre, too soft and crumbly. The red fish was very good and so was the gnocchi dish. The outstanding item was the arugula salad that was accompanied with shrimp.
Very cold. AC blowing. Needed to keep jacket on throughout dinner.
Pretty good experience, great food!
Wonderful, comfortable setting with very high quality food and service
Mussels and fries done perfectly, Service is always attentive and friendly.
Love this neighborhood staple.
Everything was delicious!! Waitstaff was friendly & on point. We will definitely be back!!
To me it is a little spot of New York in Austin, the space reminds me of a mom and pop NY restaurant. Food is excellent you can see the pizza oven in all its glory, service and quality impeccable.
Great service. Love this little neighborhood gem.
Thank goodness for the food and manager service. We had reservations at 5pm, the restaurant was still empty at that time. So why we were greeted with, "Just to let you know your table has reservations at 6:45pm." 🤷🏼♀️ The food is delicious, but I would hire friendlier wait staff for a Italian restaurant, just my option. Although, our waiters that night were good, they just need to chat more. SMILE, more!
But the food makes up for all of it. I have recommended it, several times.
Only one waitress there; other one called in sick. She did a great job serving everyone well. High praise.
Other than beer and wine only, this was a great dinner.
Would have loved candles in the tables. The place begs for it!
The pizza was soggy & the tomatoes underripe. The Caesar was mayonaisey.
The pasta was very good!
The service was friendly.
Overall, very good experience!
Generous portions of hot food.
This was our second visit to Cipollina for lunch and it was as excellent as the first visit. Our server was very attentive and the food (Pan Seared Red Fish and Classico Pizza) was awesome. This is becoming our favorite restaurant.
The food was delicious but restaurant is too loud for conversation. Bring a book because you won’t be able to speak to your dining partner.
Delicious dinner. Just a tad bit loud!
Cipollina is a hidden gem. Very casual neighborhood restaurant and bar. We only had the mussels appetizer, house salad and pizza. All were excellent. I wish I would have found this place sooner. Will definitely go back next time I’m in Austin—I want to try the pastas!
