The service and the kitchen attention to detail were impressive. Cold food arrived cold and hot food piping hot. Taste and presentation were impeccable from appetizers to dessert. None of the dishes felt like they were thrown together. The meal was an exceptional value. Rich, our waiter and Riley our bus boy made our 31st anniversary feel special. Bravo to Owner Mario for keeping up Italian hospitality during these crazy times.
The gentleman who greeted us at the front was extremely pleasant. We reminisced about his favorite restaurants in San Francisco as we waited for our table to be ready. Our server was attentive and helpful along with the rest of the staff. Great first meal back out after quarantine!
Nie place, good food. Happy they were open but with limited menu
Love Cibo and have been a regular for years. Recommend it highly to everyone
Restaurant was well kept, staff was accommodating and very helpful. We were not kept waiting, received menus quickly and food orders were served timely.
We did have a table of "young ladies" next to us that were talking above all else in the restaurant. It was annoying, and while I don't expect their mothers were anywhere nearby, they should learn to be better patrons, and recognize that everyone does not care about their latest house hunting experience or why they did not get all they expected from that home purchase!
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting well prepared food, with a good variety and great service.
Would recommend this restaurant. Food was very good. Service excellent. Very crowded and noisy though. Table spacing was very crowded and you interacted with other diners whether you wanted to or not.
Once again the food the service and the atmosphere at Cibos was outstanding. It remains our favorite fine dining spot in Monterey.
We also love that, as a party of two, they don’t pack us into some cramped table with strangers sitting right on top of us..... or so close we can share plates. That has become an all too common experience for is as of late. Especially in expensive places.
Walked in, immediately sat at a booth, per my request. We were told that the kitchen was busy but that they’d get to us right away; that’s appreciated. Drinks were great, ordered cocktails. Appetizer and main course was tasty. Ambience was casual because people were out talking candidly about their trip to México. Service was quick and courteous. Would go here again, just as a hang out.
Made the mistake of ordering the artichoke, which came hard as a rock. To their credit, the restaurant apologized, informed the chef and credited the bill. The pasta was good, not great, but the service was very good.
first trip to Monterey to see my son T DLI
Great service - Edgar is awesome!!!!
Excellent! Food was delicious and offered fresh gluten free options. Staff was welcoming. Nice vibe in the restaurant. Authentic Italian family run restaurant.
The veal chop was fantastic as usual. The sides of spinach and Yukon potatoes were sub par and unseasoned. The pizza my husband has was submerged in fried shallots to the point it was repulsive. Very sad meal for my 40th wedding anniversary. We will not go back even though I love the veal chop
While the food was a little bland and had to return an appetizer because it was not good, the place has live music and that was the highlight. Raviolis were heavy and the sauce bland. The salmon was delicious. The seafood pasta was a bit bland as well and would’ve been better in a tomato sauce. Waiter was great and music was also.
Great dinner! We had kids and the restaurant was very adaptable for us. Solid kid meals and great service. We will come back.
Closed the kitchen prior to my dining time. Had to go somewhere else as a result.
We very much enjoyed dining here on New Years Eve. The food was excellent and I was impressed with the owners walking around greeting everyone. The one sour note was the service; it was average at best. Everything else was exceptional.
New Years dinner
Dry dry chicken Marsala. Such a disappointment on Christmas Eve. First and last time. Service mediocre.
I hate to write a review that is less than outstanding but we've tried Cibo several times while in Monterey. It just hasn't wow'd us at all. This time we started in the bar for happy hour and appetizers. None were hot but should have been, and they were just OK, and some at our table wanted to sent them back. Dinner was also OK, but only OK. We've tried, but at this point it is off of our list.
One waiter for our area of six tables. He was running but overwhelmed. Group party was extremely loud as were their numerous children crawling/running around the tables. The food was excellent and of value but our dining experience was marginal.
Service was perfect and food was delicious...sea bass for me and salmon for my companion. Heavenly panna cota for dessert.
Sub-par Italian food. Definitely get it’s business by location more than quality. I’d recommend pretty much anywhere else. Service was very friendly though!
Good food, excellent service but it was a rainy, cold day in Monterey and the restaurant was soooo cold! We all wore our coats and scarves during the entire meal.
I was a single diner. The host was busy flirting with girls at the front desk, and would not even acknowledge me as I tried to check in for my reservation. Someone else finally came to seat me, the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night. I barely got my coat off and the server asks me if I know what I want. I asked for a moment to open the menu. He came back frantically asking again. I ordered a martini and calamari. The $14 dollar cocktail was half empty, and the appetizer was cold and like rubber. There was no one in the restaurant and the server was trying to get me out as soon as possible. I own 2 restaurants, and I can tell you this experience was beyond terrible. I will not be returning.
A fun place with great Italian food patronized by locals. Live music weekend nights.
Outstanding food service and delicious food! It is difficult to find an authentic and accommodating Italian Restaurant with my husband and my food allergies. Edgar, our waiter was outstanding and he was most kind. The owner stopped by our table after we were finished and asked us how our food was. Lovely person!
The four of us had a delightful evening!
Maitre D was appeared unprofessional. Shirt un-tucked, dull personality and even after making early reservations placed us in an undesirable location. I asked for another table (restaurant was about 35 full) and he said they were all booked.
We had wonderful service by Roberto. Dinner was great. We definitely will be retuning.
Nice music, good service and a good pasta.
Lovely service, wonderful food. Love this place. Didn’t care for the music. It was way too loud for me even though we were seated as far away from the noise as possible
Cibo has the best Chicken Marsala I have ever had in my entire life. From the fresh baked bread to dip in your olive oil and vinegar to the bean soup to the craft cocktails, this place is a must see in Monterey. Over all the fancy dining my fiancee and I have been to in Monterey and Carmel, this place so far is our favorite. We will be recommending this place to all of our friends and family looking for a great spot for Italian food or anyone who wants to know the best place to eat.
Very good pasta. A bit noisy due to the live band. Overall, I was gonna quite pleased.
Shrimp risotto awesome. Polenta creamy. Beets to die for. Bread fresh and tried not to fill up. Music from live band nice to listen and dance to. Waiter was one if the best I’ve ever had.
Just another perfect restaurant experience at our usual booth at CIBO’s at 715pm
My pizza was very heavy and kept me awake at night. The short ribs were small chunks of meat on a mostly cheese pizza, and the fried Yukon potatoes turned out to be tiny, very salty fries. My husband's lobster pasta special was overpriced at $45 and was also very heavy. My mother-in-law ordered the salmon and was happy with it.
Overall we found the prices to be a bit high for the quality compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. We're not planning to go back.
Superb food. Great service
Really disappointing. Live music was very loud and we were seated in a booth facing the restaurant so the people at either end couldn’t talk over the music. We asked to be reseated but we’re rudely told not possible, despite there being several empty tables in the other half of the restaurant which could have accommodated us.
Service was all over the place - waited ages for some things then main courses arrived literally as started plates were being cleared.
Good mixed - pasta dishes ok, pizzas undercooked. Caprese salad and bruschetta were not good.
Don't underestimate Cibo, while tourists pile in here the food is foodie-level, the jazz was good and the vibe was cool.
This was my second time dining at Cibo. The first was near Christmas and there was a jazz band that played wonderful holiday tunes. The second time was more recent. The seafood was delicious and service was attentive. I also enjoyed noticing the management/owners interacting amongst each other and staff. Very friendly with a family feel, upscale ambiance, and nice downtown location.
