The only issue with service for me was the fact that I know how you should start service at a table, what you should cover, and more minute things. And due to that it wasn’t stellar. He was a good server, polite, fairly prompt, but not superb.
Shenanigans has been a wonderful gathering place for monthly lunches and celebrations for years! The warmth and friendliness fantastic! The food delicious and service impeccable! A beautiful view made it relaxing and a comfortable place to catch up with friends and family.
Sadly this last visit was horrendous!
No one greeted us for 10 mins when we arrived.
Even with an almost empty restaurant, we still had to wait over an hour and a half for awful food! The shrimp was still frozen! The menu favorites gone, new coffee cups that were difficult for seniors to drink from. Definitely not handicap compatible seating or access. Except for the great view and good company, it was a disaster.
.Beyond disappointing and we couldn't wait to leave .
Love to come her for special lunches and even dinner. Met up with my best friend to celebrate her birthday. This is one of her favorite places. We both had the house salad and a bowl of the Lobster Bisque. The Lobster Bisque was to die for. So delicious.
The view of Commencement Bay was incredible. The food was good. It was very cold in the restaurant and the service just ok. We brought friends from out of town and we’re not happy with the experience.
The food was meh... the help was super friendly, though not super efficient. The prime rib was mediocre, which was disappointing and I couldn’t even count the number of dirty dishes we encountered. On the upside, they tried, and I didn’t have to cook which is always a win. It was a holiday, the restaurant was packed and if it hasn’t been for the screeching toddler, the ambiance would have rated higher. Why don’t parents with undisciplined children just stay home, instead of inflicting their brats on everyone?
The Thanksgiving brunch had a great assortment, desserts were excellant
For being exceptionally busy, the food and service were very good. The choice of foods was exceptional. . . brunch, seafood, or "traditional" Thanksgiving fare. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, and we would highly recommend it to others.
Service was good & there wasn't any dish I didn't like. It was a great day to spend with family.
This was our first visit to C. I. Shenanigans, and it was for the Thanksgiving buffet. We loved the layout and architecture of the building, the views of the sound were great! Our table, on the other hand was next to the kitchen door and server's station. understandably, there was a lot activity around us, as well as a lot of noise. We expected it to be busy, but we were a little disappointed with the seating. The servers were pleasant and very attentive while helping us, however when at their station (about three feet away) they were loud and did a fair amount of complaining about other coworkers. The buffet had a great variety of foods to choose from and most of it was very good (one or two items were way over cooked ).
Very mediocre food. Out of date wine menu. Overpriced
Wonderful Thanksgiving brunch buffet!
As always, C.I. Shenanigans was fantastic. We called because traffic was horrible, they kindly extended our reservation (On Thanksgiving morning) to accommodate us. The brunch was amazing, the staff was working hard yet they were all so friendly. We can always count on C.I. Shenanigans for a good time.
Great experience, they helped me with setting up a special table for when i proposed to my girlfriend, food was great as well! Thank you!
We were there for lunch with an old friend on a very quiet Monday. I was quite surprised when I asked the waiter if I could substitute a condiment on a sandwich and was told “no.” I wanted a Monte Cristo with Dijon in place of raspberry since I do not care for raspberries. I had even looked at various recipe websites and most had Dijon or another condiment so I didn’t think my request was out of line. So...I didn’t get the Monte Cristo and got fish...I was disappointed.
Sunday brunch- great selection of food but VERY expensive!! Service was slow and rude and waitress overcharged us by one person (that is a $35 error), she fixed it but even that took time as she disappeared and no one else could take care of it.
Great place for Sunday brunch buffet
One of a the few fine dining options in Tacoma. Great menu, lovely service, comfortable seating-definitely will be back!
We had a great time with good food and drinks.
Lobster bisque was not good.
The Service was Slow and the Chicken we ordered was not very good had no taste side dish portions were average Just expected better tasting food From this Nice Restaurant Took My Parents and they were disappointed May have just been the Dinner we Ordered.
We had 12 people and we were well taken care of. Food to all was served timely. We all plan to return.
Had the halibut with butternut squash and mashed potatoes!! Great flavor. Excellent service.
Great view, great environment, and terrific wait staff...but the food is just so so. I've been several times for the ambience but the food is consistently blan. During this visit the crusted halibut was undercooked. 2 waiters and the manager visually confirmed and agreed. However, the manager made it a point to return to the table and state the cook said that because it was flakey that it was properly cooked. I'll agree that a portion of the fish along the outer edges was cooked. However, if halibut is pink, chewy, and cool in the center it is definitely NOT cooked correctly. Why even come back to the table and tell a customer that after agreeing earlier? Fortunately, there are plenty of other really nice dining options along the waterfront in Tacoma. I recommend C.I. Shenanigans as a last resort if you want more than a nice view!
Best overall "Happy Hour" Burger & Beer on the waterfront -- really yummy Mud Pie for dessert, great stop before the movies!
Amanda our server was super sweet and excellent.
Very nice will return . The only think I was looking for was biscuits and gravy but everything was great and of good quality and the service was great
This trip the Shenanigans was sub par at best. The food was brought out cold, and the steak was under cooked. The waitress took the cut steam and just had it re-heated which did nothing to better the experience. One of the soups that was ordered was brought to the table wrong as well.
We hadn't been there in a while, decided to try for lunch. Lunch menu seemed pricey, so went with their tasting menu- pick two items, shooter sized dessert. (15$) Very small portions, almost laughable. Got our food quickly, but then our server disappeared until I had to get her attention so we could get our dessert and pay the bill. My companion had the Reuben with fries, said the fries were undercooked, and Reuben was pretty greasy.
Beautiful view of the water while we ate delicious food. We had a wonderful time.
Best iceberg wedge salad both my wife and I have ever had!
We were seated at a table with a great view and plenty of room for our party of 4. Service was prompt but not rushed. Food was excellent and portions were ample! We greatly enjoyed this periodic get-to-gather for our social group. We will return!
We enjoy taking advantage of the two week Tacoma Restaurant Week and try to visit four establishments, two each week. This year we started with C. I. Shenanigans, having driven by it for years on our way to other venues.
We had trouble finding C. I. Shenanigans because it was a dark, dreary night and their sign was not illuminated. Once we were inside we were led down some steps to the lowest level and seated in a booth.
Service: Our waiter was scattered; he constantly failed to follow through on requests such as coffee (served in small cups that cooled quickly), bread (which he suggested then was slow to deliver, requiring several reminders), and coffee refills which we had to request frequently.
Food: The appetizer, Lobster Bisque, was served cooler than I prefer but flavorful and my spouse approved of it. The main course, Sole stuffed with crab and shrimp, mixed rices, and broccoli, turned out to be disappointing. The Sole portion was average size and the flavor and texture were adequate. The rice was slightly under cooked, with the wild rice part left seriously crunchy and was cooler than it should have been. The broccoli was also too cool and slightly under cooked.
The server asked us how we liked the meal, and we pointed out its' shortcomings. He promptly got a manager. We explained to the manager what we felt was wrong with the meal and the service, and why we felt qualified to make our judgement. He listened carefully to us and offered to replace our meal. When we told him"No, thanks", he took a portion off of our bill.
At that point I remembered the dark sign and asked if he knew why it was out. He was startled and had no idea that it wasn't on, but said he'd deal with it. When we left the sign was shining brightly, a beacon leading to an adequate meal.
We understand that a restaurant can have an "off" night, so we will try them again in a few weeks The potential for a good meal and a pleasing experience is there and we will see if it can be realized.
Food was just okay. Clam chowder was salty. View was great. Service was good.
Took my girlfriend to shenanigans for a nice dinner date as a surprise and she was very pleased with the food and service. It was her first one there.
Food selection and variety was good but most items were only Luke warm at best.
My GF’s and I have been enjoying going to Shenanigans more and more lately. It’s an environment we can actually enjoy conversation in, the food is excellent, and we always manage to get the fun servers that playback to our energy! I also really enjoy the special events they do, which keeps me coming back! :-)
Took our nephew and new wife to dinner. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
We have always had great experiences here.
Will return soon.
The food was bland. I ordered the lobster macaroni-it was a tablespoon over lobster. It was flavorless. The prime rib was dry.
The view was perfect. I had the east coast lobster roll. It was delicious!
Overpriced buffet for the quality of food. Worst part is that the scrambled eggs were hard and dry. And the service was poor. Waited around for the waiter multiple times. Took him 10 minutes to greet our table and a long time to return.
Ordering a la carte is definitely better than the buffet.
