We had a lovely meal--be prepared to have all three courses, but there is plenty of choice.
You can never go wrong at this tavern!! Amazing food!!
We’ve eaten here before and had a good experience. This time our food was cold and lacking in flavor. Our bill was $120 for 2 people. Not impressed.
Thoroughly enjoyed the historical ambiance, excellent service, and outstanding food quality.
Any visit to Colonial Williamsburg isn’t complete without a meal at one of the Taverns. Christians Campbell’s always provides a menu of delicious options, with a staff who makes the visit informative and pleasant.
Hats off to this restaurant... I was not expecting the quality of food I received. The food and service was exceptional. Highly recommended!
Went to Christiana Campbell’s Tavern on our last night in Williamsburg. The food was excellent and the service superb. We arrived early for our reservation, and were taken straight to our table. The meal was served with style and arrived in a timely manner and hot. Everyone was full when the dishes were cleared. 😎
We went for my wife Gina’s birthday. The experience was incredible. Our server, “Pooh” was outstanding. One of our best dining out experiences ever.
Service and food were excellent. I am looking forward to returning on my next trip to Williamsburg
As always it was delicious! The service is outstanding and the historical aspect is so fun.
Great atmosphere! Excellent food and kind wait staff!
We really enjoyed our meal and the live entertainment by a traveling singer with his guitar. The food was excellent and very plentiful.
We love eating in this tavern. The only drawback this time was the fact they put us in a room with about 13 noisy children.
We had a delightful evening with friends who were visiting here in Williamsburg. We did have to wait a little extra time even with reservations but the staff was very pleasant and explained the situation. Will certainly plan on a return visit.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. The food and the entertainment were very good. Our issue was that at a 5:30 seating they were already out of the catch of the day. The server told us the catch of the day was rockfish and were informed as they delivered the plate they were out of rockfish and we were getting salmon instead. They offered to substitute but that was not real option an hour into the meal .
Other suggestion is be one of the first into the room as they fill each room. If you are one of the last seated in the room you get the feeling you are being rushed out as they make up all the other the tables around you.
Our server was so sweet and attentive. She really made the evening for us! The menu is interesting and varied. The food was well presented and delicious. My salmon was cooked perfectly and my wife's York Supper was excellent. The spoon bread was a real treat and they serve the BEST pecan pie you'll ever have!
servers very much in character - a step back in time
Outstanding service and a very relaxing atmosphere. Food was very tasty and plentiful. A good place for a first time date.
Great colonial atmosphere with some live entertainment thrown in. Enjoyed all of our courses from the crab soup, refreshing salad, delicious sweet potato bread and excellent entrees. Wonderful dinner by candlelight. Service was exceptional.
We celebrated our birthdays at Christiana Campbell's Tavern and had a very nice experience. The Candle light supper with a wonderful waiter and minstrel were very good and in period.
The food was good but the price was a bit high.
Very enjoyable but at that price we can only justify it for special occasions.
At first, I thought the price was on the high side. But after dining at Christiana Cambell's it was well worth it. Food was delicious and serving size was large. The price was all inclusive and included entree, soup or salad, desert, sweet potato bread, and corn spoon bread. I also thoroughly enjoyed the traveling musician who shared along with music, the history of the role of taverns.
First night open after the winter break. Quality of the food was fabulous. Service fantastic.
This is the second visit we've made to this tavern. We brought some family with us and were very hyped for them to try the food and the overall experience of Christiana Cambell's. The food was very good and the meal was enough for two people to enjoy. The server seemed to be tired or bored and therefore the experience that we were looking forward to was lost. When we sat he said, "Open your menus" which we did thinking he was going to tell us about the different dishes but instead he told us about the foods that the tavern had run out of. There was no interaction with us of any type. We were disappointed that the service we had received the previous visit was not there this time. It is our hope that the next time we visit we can be pleasantly surprised.
WONDERFUL! Perfect service, lovely atmosphere and beyond delicious food. Will certainly dine here again.
Lively entertainment, great menu selection, sevice impeccable. All made for a memorable New Year's Eve dinner.
We had Jim as our waiter and he was fantastic. Prompt and wonderful service with great humor. We also enjoy the authentic 1700 century music and musician that played and sang foke tuns for us. Very festive and a great way to end 2019!
Whenever we travel to visit Colonial Williamsburg we make a reservation at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern. We have visited many times since we started in 1995 and have never been let down by our dining experience. Tuesday nights meal was exceptional.
We had a most beautiful evening. Staff was great. Atmosphere, perfect. And the food was beyond excellent. An evening we will be talking about for quite some time
This is a great place to eat in Colonial Williamsburg, but be sure to make advance reservations. Great tavern atmosphere, excellent food and setting. Main dining areas are a bit tight and candle lit. So reading the menus can be challenging. But this is a must-do location to visit in a complete Williamsburg visit. Prices are not too high, given the quality of food and location. Expect approx. $35-42 (plus alcohol costs) for a four-course meal.
I really enjoyed our New Year’s Eve dinner at Christiana Campbell’s. The seasonal salad, corn chowder, and spoon bread were amazing.
I enjoyed my steak and ice cream too. Everything I ate was gluten free.
Our waiter Tim was amazing. He was attentive without being overbearing. He took our daughter to meet the tavern musician when she asked about the instrument she saw on the way into the tavern. Tim was well versed with all the menu items, even suggesting changes to make the meal better. He was able to tell us about all the foods as we would expect but also let us know about changes that have taken place within the historic area as well. If you can request a waiter, ask for Tim, you won’t be disappointed.
My Husband and I visit Colonial Williamsburg once a year and Christiana Campbell’s is always on our places to eat. The food has really gone down hill, even the spoon bread that they are famous for wasn’t good. Also our server didn’t give us the right special catch of the day.
Our 51st anniversary dinner was perfect. The food was delicious, the entertainment delightful and our server the best.
We have been coming to Campbell’s Tavern for 45 years! We wouldn’t go anywhere else because it has a special place in our heart!
The server was exceptional. We began at a slightly cramped table, but were happily and graciously moved to a better location. The food was really delicious. Christiana Campbell's is our favorite colonial restaurant.
The only drawback was two men at different tables who felt the need to share their conversations with the rest of the room. I really didn't need to know one man's daily calorie intake and how he managed it.
Amazing experience dining in colonial period style, large portions of delicious food & all 4 courses included in one price. We will most definitely be back!!
It was very nice to eat in an historical setting. The house provides you with a good understanding of life during that era. The servers are all gracious and accommodating. The food was good but not absolutely fabulous.
Our server, Pooh, was a delightful combo of representing the historic period and maintaining high, modern service standards with charming humor. The menu balances the historic and modern as well, but leans towards the former (and so is not great for sensitive or restricted dining). The sweet potato bread is a winner as is the berry crumble dessert. The entrees are well-seasoned and filling with good base ingredients. However, if you're a true crab cake aficionado, do not expect any actual lump crab meat in your 'jumbo lump' crab cakes. Seating is cozy at both your and with neighboring tables. Though the scale is small (we're all slim), the wooden chairs are surprisingly comfy.
My wife Dolores and I returned to Williamsburg to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. We were married on December 19th 1959 and we came to Williamsburg for our honeymoon. We only spent two nights there for at that time we didn't have a lot of money. We have been back to Williamsburg several times since then with our three children. We took them to Christiana Campbell's for supper one of those times and they loved it. This time brought back so many good memories. Our server, named Pooh, made our evening so enjoyable. She was a joy to talk to. We couldn't have been more pleased with our evening dining at Christiana Campbell's.
