grilled skirt steak with peppercoen sauce & french fries
with peppercorn sauce & french fries
There was only one server taking orders for the whole outdoor dining area.
two of us had eaten there before and we got the Croque monsieur with salad. Our new member got the steak frites and she and i share orange Mimosas. We were all satisfied but got 3 crème brules anyway because they are absolutely prefect..
My all-time fave in San Francisco. Could eat every meal here (and sometimes do.)
Delightful outdoor dining! Highly recommend it.
We had a party of 5. Wonderful food. Loved sitting outside. Very clean and Covid safe.
A party of 5 dined outside. The waitstaff was very nice, keeping water glasses filled on hot day and noting position of umbrella to block the sun for all guests. Food was delicious and reasonably priced for the area.
Food was ok - especially compared to the high prices. Girlfriend got the steak frites and the steak was barely warm.
Great outdoor dining. The street is blocked off and tables are set at safe distances in the street. Much quieter than some of the restaurants with tables in parking spaces with cars racing by. Very good lunches and dinners. Enjoy while the weather is still warm.
Fantastic outdoor spot on the blocked off street and you cannot best the Croque Madame and the butter lettuce salad. The only thing I’d change is not putting a table for 2 on Fillmore St. right outside the bathroom window. A minor adjustment.
Incredible atmosphere with the nicest open terraces in SF. We had dinner on the street which was closed off to the vehicular traffic and the weather was amazing.
The food was served super fast and it was delicious! i highly recommend the Steak and Frites! Wine selection was also very comprehensive and it was priced very reasonably.
Loved, loved, loved the restaurand, would recommend to anyone...
Great outdoors lunch
CHOUQUET'S IS MY NEIGHBORHOOD FAVORITE, GREAT FOR LUNCH AND DINNERS, SERVICE ALWAYS WONDERFUL.
This was the perfect dinner spot for my little wedding party of 6 & my BIG golden doodle Khaleesi! The service was spectacular & we enjoyed every moment. Sofie (forgive me if this is spelled wrong) was such a joy to have. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you Chouquet’s for a wonderful evening!!
The food was simple and classically French. We enjoyed it immensely. Outside tables were well-spaced apart in the street, which was blocked to traffic.
Excellent food and service.
A charming neighborhood spot. The waiters were very warm and gave our dog multiple treats! Enjoyed the music and the duck confit dish was excellent. Wish they had a full bar, though.
We had the onion soup and the chicken - both were great!
This review is solely based on visiting during Covid-19 measures. The food was nice, sitting on the street, not so nice. Service was good considering how few people were actually staffed. I worry about more elderly folks who may not get the whole "scan this for the menu" on the corner of the tables. All in all, it was a pleasant experience during a pandemic, but I would feel otherwise maybe if we weren't dealing with that. Would go again for the quality of the food.
The restaurant has a nice outdoor seating setup as Washington street between Filmore and Steiner is blocked off to traffic and they have outdoor tables that are nicely distanced on Washington by Filmore, as well as sidewalk tables. Had lunch there on a Saturday.
Had the burger and fries. Fries were great and THE burger was good too although a bit small. The three of us shared the chocolate fondant desert and that was excellent!
Service was also excellent.
Great spot for brunch/lunch.
Will definitely return for lunch or dinner.
Best French food in the city. Terrific service from friendly, devoted waitstaff and servers. My dining room away from home!
Great outside dining set up
Wait staff was over worked, two people waiting on 25 tables. We waited 30 minutes for a reserved table and had to repeatedly ask the waiter and waitress for assistance. They needed at least one more server during lunch.
Nice place in a nice area with good food. The staff is very attentive to cleanliness and they have a nice outdoor dining setup. I couldn't give it full marks because I was completely ignored by the staff for almost ten minutes when I arrived for my reservation. There isn't a clear hostess station, so be prepared to ask passing staff who you should talk to about seating.
Good traditional French faire. The onion soup was delicious, and the roast chicken was also good. We enjoyed sitting outside and the service was attentive.
The food was good but service took forever. They took our drink order fairly quickly but didnt come back to take our food order until 50 minutes later. They gave us free fries because it took so long which was nice but still
The service was inattentive and on the slow side. Nearly 15 minutes before anyone approached our table other than the guy with water and napkins/utensils. Server did not check in once after we got our meal.
Food was just okay -- not bad but there are other French restaurants in the city that have better food.
Unfortunately the staff here thought it was appropriate to allow a dad to get up from the table with his kids and mingle about all of the outside dining area as well as run around, scream and blow bubbles just outside the dining area. I get that he was a paying customer as well, but social distancing rules should have at least prompted them to tell him that it was not appropriate for him to be running around various tables chasing his youngest kid.
It was beyond slow. I don’t remember waiting so long for burgers and mussels. The QR code ordering and pay process was also confusing.
Very nice French food and because of Covid requirements the ambience is actually quite delightful - you feel you could be at a cafe in Paris
Open outdoor seating is great, but has always been good at Chouquets.
I had the burger and fries. The fries are thin cut and fantastic! The burger was also very good, but when it arrived, it just was not that appetizing: orange tomato, almost white lettuce and a boring bun. It surprisingly tasted great though!
I'd recommend getting real lemonade for the arnold palmers. That Countrytime or premade lemonade is really bad.
We'll be back - neighborhood standard.
Other than flying to Lyon, France, best French food in the neighborhood.
I think the staff is doing the best they can with the current restictions
We are regulars but they were overbooked and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seated; however they graciously “compd’ us with a cocktail; we know they were doing their best under Covid protocols.
We are very supportive of neighborhood eateries and they reward us in kind.
We loved the chance to meet friends for dinner - and we loved the outdoor dining.
My favorite neighborhood spot for lunch AND dinner during Covid. They have a nicely spread out outdoor space. The food is perfect, just as good as ever. And the servers always so kind and attentive.
I highly recommend the Blanquette de Veau, which is a tasty but light veal stew.
Also, the salmon is always a winner.
And don't leave without sampling the desserts - especially the warm chocolate cake with cold vanilla ice cream, perfect even on a chilly SF night.
We came for our wedding diner.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
The food is very tasty
Great food...terrific customer service!
With eating outside on the sidewalk on a foggy evening ...it was a different vibe but worthwhile
Great, friendly staff. Fantastic food! They were pretty busy, but it was a beautiful day and everyone was enjoying the outside seating.
I've had some wonderful meals here over the years. Tonight, the gazpacho and butter lettuce salad stood out. The steak frite was average - small portion of sliced steak and dry fries. Ravioli was good, not great. Service was scattered and poor, with numerous requests needed for the same thing. And they ran out of things fairly early...like bread!
Absolutely wonderful afternoon outside dining at Choquet’s - as always! Covid may sadly be with us for a while, but being here with the fabulous food )
This is a great place for brunch. They always have outside seating and now with Washington closed they have the whose street to spread out on. Food is very consistent and good. I definitely recommend this place.
