CHOP Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Chop. The new location is outstanding. We were visiting for our 30th Anniversary. The food was delicious, but just as important was our server. She was very friendly and attentive. I observed other servers and they also appeared to be outstanding. I would highly recommend visiting Chop when you are in Sister Bay.
Atmosphere very nice. Group of 4. 3 meals were very good. Unfortunately the steak oscar was so salty could only eat half. (Especially the asparagus) Could not taste the food only salt. Normally would have sent back but first time out with the other couple did not want to make a ‘scene’.
I had the BEST rib eye steak I have ever had here. The upstairs is much more quiet than the downstairs. I had the french onion soup as an appetizer and it was perfect...not too salty. The drinks are very good and we were never rushed as we ate. I suggest reservations. I am excited to try this place in the summer. The outside and the upstairs outside bar look wonderful.
We have eaten at CHOP several times and always had a good experience. Last night our dinner was poor. Two in our party had pork chops which were incredibly tough! Hard to eat. The hostess apologized and the restaurant bought our two glasses of wine. Not a very good recovery, no manager apology no one from the kitchen spoke to us. CHOP is expensive and special, I expect a better recovery than they made.
We were excited to see the new location & it was beautiful! Pasty & Jody did a great job with the new building. The menu is always consistent & every item is worth trying! The steaks melt in your mouth & the seafood is outstanding. It is always worth the 4 hour drive to come up for the week/weekend just to eat here every night we are in town! See you again in December when we will be picking up a whole carrot cake to bring home & freeze for Christmas!
Special birthday and setting was wonderful.
Had reservation but had to wait 25 minutes for seething. Apologies were made and accepted.
I would not recommend ribeye. I trimmed off 30% of the cut as it was full of fat. What I could eat was great.
My wife's dinner was wonderful and she was able to share some with me.
We will return because this experience was an exception to past occassions.
The food and service was wonderful, as usual! This was our first visit to the new stand-alone restaurant after having dined at the original smaller space in Country Walk Shops. It is a nice environment and atmosphere. Although it has a quite a bit larger dining room on the first floor, it wasn't as spacious as we expected given the building size. The second floor has what appears to be a large outdoor dining space. We highly recommend Chop to anyone visiting Door Country!
I used Open Table to score a same day reservation to CHOP for a busy Saturday night. After a short wait in the bar we were seated fairly close to our reservation time upstairs with a fantastic view. Service was prompt and pleasant, drinks were excellent. The food was amazing, I wanted to order a steak, they smelled great as we walked up, but when I saw Crispy Duck on the menu, I had to have it. Absolutely Awesome! Great experience and will go again for sure.
While the bar was crowded and a bit difficult to get a drink before being seated we were all very happy with our dinner. The meal began with popovers with honeyed butter!! Then all four of us enjoyed the Saturday night special, a 12 oz strip steak which was fabulously prepared. Salads and side of smashed reds were also delicious. Our server, Katina was terrific. Definitely will return!!
We had a reservation, but had to wait about a half an hour for our table. Busy weekend, so ok. Anyone who wants to get a glass of wine should know that they do short pours. My husband had their NY Strip, which was their daily special--and wasn't. My order was their fresh caught white fish. This is a favorite choice of mine at any restaurant in Door County and is always wonderful. Not this night. I swear their was no seasoning at all. Simply bland. I had four bites--selecting different parts of the fish. Then, stopped eating. Our waiter came and asked if I was finished. Yes. Then asked if I wanted my completely uneaten fish boxed. No. He never asked if everything was Ok. We quite simply will never return.
Our dining experience last Saturday night was a 10! We were seated on time and the table location allowed the 8 of us to comfortably communicate with each other throughout dinner.
The early bird specials were great and the service was attentive and we did not feel pressured to finish allowing us to have time to talk with our friends and catch up. Bottom line was we thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and your new location. We will return.
Good fine dining steakhouse in door county. I like that they ensure you have a table when you make a reservation. The bar is small but nice. The outdoor patio is often crowded, however that's a common issue at good restaurants!
We had one large group come in that was rather loud. The room has good acoustics, but when a group is super loud nothing will help, other than a private room.
The food was very good. My steak was cooked perfectly. I loved the peppercorn crust and bacon blue cheese butter.
The service was way too rushed. We ordered and they served our first course within 5 minutes and entrees within 10. It was kind of odd for a steakhouse.
I also wish they spent a little more time on the interior design. It is just paint on drywall, not very thoughtful.
We went to Chop for our wedding anniversary. Got there early for some cocktails at the bar. The barman was VERY professional and actually fun to watch. Too bad he was a little overwhelmed by the early rush, but he handled it like a pro. The meal was out of this world. I can not wait to return next year (if not before!
