Authentic South Indian food that is consistently good. We enjoyed the crisp Indian pancakes called dosas and not so crisp uttapam.
Creative variations of traditional Indian appetizers. I would have given them a 5 ,but the Navratan tartlets were not crunchy. The little puris were stale.
Service is excellent and very accommodating to our needs.

Authentic Indian cuisine with the finest attention to detail. Cholanad moved to a larger space on the same block, allowing for more seating options. We sampled a variety of appetizers, dishes, bowls, sides, etc. too numerous to name here. Without fail, every dish met our expectations. The staff was very attentive, helpful with selections, friendly and professional. Thanks for a great experience!!
COVID note: they are open and have taken every precaution. It seemed the takeout orders outnumbered the customers dining in. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, feeling completely comfortable with their covid measures.

Love this place. I'm moving out of state and chose to visit Chola Nad one last time. Best decision ever. The food was immaculate as always. I always order the Shrimp Tika Masala. && The new location is huge and clean. I was in heaven. 100% recommend.

We took our vegetarian granddaughter to Cholanad for the first time on Sunday night. We ordered a vegetarian sampler before the meal and it was superb with light flakey, tarts that I've never had before in other Indian places. I ordered something for my main that was out, but our server was great and recommended another dish--a peppery chicken. I absolutely loved it! My husband thought his rogan josh was the best he's ever had and our granddaughter loved the chick pea stew. We will definitely be going back!
Food was okay compared to other times we've eaten there (usually is great). Everyone seemed overwhelmed. There were some issues with the reservation (Valentine's Day) that had guests quite upset and waiting for a table (we were only delayed 10min).
Made a reservation one month in advance for Valentine’s Day however upon arrival there were 7 couples with reservations waiting. Very disorganized and tried to sit a couple at the same 4 top table as another couple! Told it would be a wait but could not tell us how long. As we waited a couple showed up 25 minutes late for their reservation and they were out at the front of the wait. Thanks to Cholanad they ruined our valentine’s dinner as we ended up leaving instead of waiting for an endless period of time. Of course there were no other restaurants with availability so we ended up eating at a cafe. Will never return, thanks Cholanad for making our Valentine’s Day memorable:(
Delicious food, great for vegetarian and gluten free folks in our group. Low key very accommodating service. Loved our craft cocktails too. And a parking lot!

This is a wonderful restaurant. The best Indian food I've ever had and I've eaten plenty, including in NYC, where I lived for years. I recommend it highly.
Very disappointed after good experiences in the past. Poor food quality, dirty glasses and 4 out of 5 in the party did not finish or want to finish the entrees. Maybe the ownership has recently changed ?
We went for Thanksgiving dinner. It was very good. The portions were generous and the food was really tasty. The only negative comment is that we both wanted a cocktail, however, we were told that their bartender didn't arrive until 7pm (it was 5:30pm when we arrived). We were offered wine instead. I can pour myself a glass of wine at home, so I prefer to have a cocktail when I'm dining out. Otherwise, the waitstaff was knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely go back!
Food was very good. Too much sauce, and not enough actual ingredients in the sauce. Their idea of mild is still spicy, and they are unwilling to change anything to suit their customers. My friend's mom couldn't eat her "mild" saag paneer because it was too spicy. My mom had really wanted to try this place, having had it come highly recommended. We liked it, but not as much as some other Indian restaurants. This is still a solid choice if you are in town and do not mind that your mild dish is actually somewhat spicy.
Food was very good although lamb was not as tender as expected. Cocktails were a big disappointment served in a water glass full to the rim with ice.
So good. Helpful staff, very friendly and explained different dishes on the menu to us. We will be back!!

Cholanad has 5 star chefs making good use of quality ingredients creating South Indian food. Eating here is a great way to learn about world class food which is not the usual Indian food, instead it is true culinary South India dishes. When you climb the few steps of this Tamil architecture inspired building and open its door one gets their first glimpse of the restaurant stylish interior. My husband, children and I feel relaxed in this environment. I have eaten so many dishes here, what stands out is the Madurai Curry Dosa coated with egg & curried Lamb which is addictive. I called the next day and ordered another one to be delivered to my home. Yum! Also we love the mutton biryani & raita which is a Hyderabad Dum Biryani style of many many spices, rice and tender mutton, the raita cooled our palate as we enjoyed this spicy dish. I suggest you come and eat here, and try something you are unfamiliar with in order to experience exotic flavors, and great cooking. Also Cholanad as has a parking lot the left of the building which helps with parking on Franklin Street.
Delicious food and super great service - our waiter was kind, helpful, and patient (my family can be indecisive when it comes to food ordering, and often have questions to ask!). We all went home with doggie bags of food, too, so the portions are quite decent. Highly recommend!

This is our go to indian restaurant and we have never been disappointed. The food was awesome and many vegetarian choices.
The service during our recent dinner at Cholanad was so poor that it was comic. First we were puzzled, then irritated and finally felt the only way to salvage the experience was to have a laugh seeing what came next. The first thing we noticed was that our server was sullen. He took our order accurately, I will give him that, but welcoming he was not. We were four, each pair ordering two appetizers and two main dishes, eight dishes in all. Two of the appetizers and two of the mains were the same, making it a fairly simple order. The food came out a dish, or maybe two, at a time, with long intervals between and no sense to the order - one appetizer and one main, followed by a long wait, etc. At last, long after we'd decided we were tired of it all, out came the last main dish, a twin to the first. Water was refilled in the same way, no rhyme or reason. I can't imagine how any restaurant can survive treating customers this way. We will not be back.
I had Tiger Dosa (non veg). Not good at all. Lamb and Chicken in it doesn't look fresh. And its expensive!!!
The food that I ordered was great, but my family was not upgraded by their incorrect orders. The wait for the food is at least 30 minutes, which did not help their case after having us wait 15 minutes to be seated for a reservation we had made. Also, one of the waiters did a poor job of managing the incorrect food order by just apologizing instead of fixing the meal.
The hostess was great. Our Server (Dan) was good but even hostess acknowledged thet he can be spacey. There was no napkin or silverware on our table. We had to ask the support staff twice and once were told by one of the staff to ask our waiter. I asked for some pickles and I am still waiting for it. The food is good but that might be my last time there.
