Chez Francois - Vermilion
Went for our anniversary and sat on the patio. Service was a little slow but we really enjoyed the food as always. Best lemon cheesecake I’ve ever had!
We had a lovely anniversary celebration dinner with our dear friends. Roger and Evan were outstanding and made our evening very special. The zucchini blossoms stuffed with lobster were amazing. Our group of four all enjoyed the food and amazing cocktails which were recommended. We look forward to our next visit at Chez!
Absolutely exquisite restaurant and ambiance headed by a friendly knowledgeable server. The wine list is world class from modestly priced to world class expensive. Menu is enhanced with several chef specials reflecting current trends.
The food was excellent...but in my opinion the meals were over priced. The two servers were both very professional. The rest rooms were quite small. Ambience was very nice. Parking was a bit of a problem...I had to park a block away. Overall it was very nice...just too pricey.
We sat on the patio for a Sunday Funday date night and had the best experience! The service is incredible, the food is outstanding and the views on the water are breathtaking. Got the Aperol Spritz and Gin Dirty Martini for cocktails and they were some of the best cocktails we’ve ever had! I got the veal dish and my boyfriend got the beef Wellington. Beautiful plated, divine food. We will be going back again!
We had a 8:30 reservation, of course we arrived early but still ended up waiting 10-15 minutes past our reservation. They did not have any tables open and were running around trying to find one. We settled on sitting outside which was a 2 person table; one seat was facing the lake, the other facing the butt of a line of boats. The lighting was horrible, except for one candle on the table. We could barely see what we were eating. The table sat behind us has an insanely loud patron whom did not give two eggs as to who heard their own conversations. The service was average, nothing spectacular. The food was average at best. And the prices are higher than the quality of the entire place. I will probably try this place one more time, but I won’t seek it out anytime soon.
Literally the best restaurant I have been to. Unless you go to a big time city (Vegas, Chicago, New York) you won’t find better French cuisine. The owners are caring and passionate about their work. I proposed at this restaurant and Matt took time out of his busy schedule to help me plan it to the T. Nothing but positive things to say. This restaurant will go down in our memory banks as one of the best times of our lives
We dined at Chez Francois to celebrate our 28th anniversary. We had such a great experience when we went two years ago, so we thought we’d return again this year. We waited for awhile to receive our menus and wine list (not enough to go around) and were asked to order our whole meal up front because the restaurant was over booked. Our meal was delicious, but felt the service was not at the exceptional level we experienced in the past. On our last visit, our desserts came with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate along with a lit candle. There was no special notation on our desserts this time or candle. We did receive an anniversary note from the staff left at the table at the beginning of our meal.
This is a fantastic restaurant. Excellent food and service. Worth the drive.
Omar and the young man working with him were great, attentive. Food was delicious. Expensive, but we knew that going into the meal. Overall very positive experience.
Matt and John always deliver exceptional quality and service. Best in the business
The Service was outstanding. Omar and Brady did a great job with me and my wife.
My husband and I started our evening with a few drinking in the bar that is attached to the restaurant. Let me just mention the cucumber/basil martini (which is only $8 on Friday's) was amazing and so was our bartender. The hostess situation was a little unorganized but once we were sat the experience was a 10/10. We'll be back!
Could not be better. Perfect in every way possible.
Wonderful as always!
Chez Francois is the best place for a celebration of any type.
Still the best restaurant in NE Ohio. Not to be missed by anyone visiting the Cleveland area. Amazing wine list with rare finds and vintages along with trained sommeliers.
Our food was cooked perfectly and every dish looked like it was about to be a picture in a magazine. A few of the dishes seemed over salted and there was no sweet component to touch all your taste buds in some of the savory dishes, but it was fantastic. Still like Marble Room better.
Perfect place for special occasions. We tried the tasting menu, and the food was beyond great. Everything was thoughtfully crafted to make us enjoy the best of French cuisine. The environment was also fantastic. We preferred the riverfront seating because we could enjoy the stunning view by the river. We will definitely come back!
This place is absolutely the best! The menu, the location and the service are nothing short of superb. The setting, inside and out, is elegantly relaxing. I love the corn soup this time of year. Chez Francois is the best restaurant in northern Ohio, if not the entire state.
Amazing food. Service was impeccable. Great drinks. Perfect place for a romantic yet relaxing date!!
There is not an experience like this anywhere but certainly anywhere near Cleveland. Service is what outstanding restaurants of long ago used to have but no more. Matt and his team are second to none. Love Susie and this night we had Jordan and he was exceptional. On a scale of 1-10 the service is a 50. Food is beyond perfect and though most call this a special occasion place, for what you get here it is a tremendous value as well. All the touches that make great----superb!! Views of the water outside and charm and elegance on the inside. Can't wait for the Clambake (like no other) and the Christmas season here as well. If you have never been here---you should correct that. It is one of a kind these days!
The main dining room is a great place for high-end, no-shortcut fine dining. Outstanding.
Outstanding dinner, service, menu and view. A thoroughly delightful evening. True old world dining.
33d Wedding Anniversary celebration. Perfect, from our own table in an alcove (with Anniversary card signed by the staff) to service (Timothy and Brady, with Omar stopping by to chat and kid around when he heard I am a Seinfeld fan) to the terrific food (Lobster/zucchini blossom and corn soup appetizers, sea bass and duck entrees) to white chocolate torte mousse and cherries jubilee desserts. Drinks were perfect; the bartender figured out how to make my wife’s favorite mocktail and my French Manhattan was just right.
Our 3 hour dinner was memorable; my wife and I truly enjoyed it. Do not mistake a relaxing, leisurely evening for poor service.
This is a perfect spot for a special occasion. We have been all over the country and Europe and Chez Francois ranks with the best restaurants. Every detail receives proper attention.
I first dined here in 1974 when I was 19 years old.
Expensive? Yes. But well worth it and a value if you appreciate truly fine dining.
There might be someplace in the United States as good, but you won't find one better.
I brought a visitor from California and 2 other friends and I’m never disappointed.
After almost four hours of fine dining experience was flawless.
Great food, service and ambience.
The food is amazing, service was good and the top deck was beautiful. The water is gorgeous
Chez Francois consistently provides a completely satisfying dining experience. My cocktail was served perfectly chilled. The crab cake appetizer was a unique preparation and a perfectly sized portion. The duck breast entree was absolutely divine. Our server was efficient and casually friendly as we were obviously anxious to converse with him. My friends were equally pleased with all aspects of our evening.
My wife and I had an incredible experience as first timers at Chez Francois. I had heard of this legendary restaurant from people in the industry and folks from Vermillion. I cannot write the review I want to. I’ll prop these guys up to be something unattainable. That night, it was perfect. The cocktails, wine, food and service were everything we wanted. My wife said “this must be what heaven is like”. You guys truly knocked it out of the park. All I can really say is thank you to Matt, Dave, Max and Chef John for making our 3rd anniversary truly memorable.
We were disappointed in the service, which in previous visits had been outstanding. We decided on our entrees before selecting wine. After the server learned that we needed more time to decide on wine, we were left alone with nothing to eat or drink for a very long time before he returned to take our wine order. This was the first time we had dined in the Riverfront Cafe, and it was very pleasant even though the temperature was in the 80s.
Absolutely the best dining experience! From the food, to the service, to the ambiance...it's a perfect place for a special occasion.
My husband and I enjoyed our 53 anniversary at Chez Francois in Vermilion, Ohio. We have been there before but not for a long time. We will make it a must for our next celebratory event! We enjoyed the experience very much. Kudos to all who made our evening so beautiful!!!
We went to celebrate our anniversary and could not have picked a better restaurant. Everything was fantastic; service, food, wine selection all about as good as it gets. The evening at Chez Francois was a nice memorable evening. My wife had a lobster special that the presentation was jaw dropping and the taste and quantity matched it.
As always, Chez Francois delivered a great meal and experience. The summer cocktail menu was a hit with our group. Food was topnotch and Omar and the crew provided great service.
Celebrated my birthday at Chez Francois with my husband. Excellent food, service and ambiance!
Always fantastic!! Worth the trip to Vermillion! We will definitely be back!
Traveled from Cleveland for a romantic birthday dinner. I’ve known of Chez Francois for many years and we finally made the drive to try it. Unfortunately, we were surprisingly disappointed in the service. We made reservations for 8:15 and arrived a few minutes early. We had to wait, which was fine except the hostess was very rude. When we came in and stated we had reservations she said ok and went back to the speaking to others and taking phone calls. We were seated about 10-15 minutes later and left with a tablet of drinks to peruse. That’s when the real waiting began. By the time the waiter came back and took our drink order and we received them it was 9:30! Incredibly disappointed. The food was very good, slight mix up with the appetizers. And, once we ordered food things picked up a bit, but we had plans after, which could not be fulfilled. We passed on the desert and didn’t leave until 11. I’ve been told this is not the norm, so an unfortunate experience for us.
