Not until they get more waiting staff. Literally, it was the hostess, bartender, and 1 waiter at lunch time on a Saturday. 15 minutes to get water, 15 more to get drinks, 20 more to get appetizers, 30 more to get food.
One of our favorite restaurants in Nashville!
This place seriously needs to understand basics of food preparation. I have travelled 20+ states and had Indian food in every one of them with this being my second worst experience. Bhuna chicken had dry chicken with lack of seasoning and tasted a bit old. Calamari had “khatta meetha namkeen” which I had no idea why. The only thing that was good was raita and the steamed rice. Not worth the experience I was hoping.
Overall, a very good experience. My mussels had sand and rocks in them.
Great experience as always. Love this place, but..like everyone who eats here ...I’m Looking forward to more comfortable seating at some point!
Great food, great ambiance! But make a reservation, they get packed! It's worth the wait
We ate the bar and enjoyed several appetizers (mussels, calamari, paneer tikka, and some naan/chutney) along with our cocktails. The service was excellent and the food was very good overall. We highly recommend this restaurant and plan to return when we visit Nashville in the future!
Absolutely! I would highly recommend Chauhan Ale and Masala House to anyone. We had a very large group - many who had never experienced indian food. Absolutely everyone loved it! Can't wait to visit Nashville again so I do it again.
Good restaurant with good environment. Good quality good and drinks.
Amazing food and great server. Gave honest feedback when helping us select an entree. Tika masala is amazing and we will surely be back soon!
I was impressed by the food. I am not a fan of brussel sprouts, but theirs are simply delicious! Our server was attentive and friendly. His suggestions were excellent.
Very tasty and nice change of pace. Nice people and quality service.
For the positive. They have a really good happy hour. The food and drinks were extremely good. The bartender was good at his job and he kept me entertained. The Indian food was the best that I have had in a very long time. The restaurant is really cute and has a great vibe to it. Now for the negative, the host was extremely rude. He saw that I had walked in right after another customer. Instead of telling me that he would be with me shortly, he walked the customer to his table and then kept on going to the back of the restaurant leaving me standing at the host/hostess stand until someone else came from the back to help me. He should have said something instead of ignoring that I was waiting to be seated. I instead sat at the bar where I received excellent customer service.
Chauhan’s has been a quintessential part of our Nashville visit over the past few years. Went for lunch this time and were surprised by the poor service, Long wait to take the order despite few patrons. The blonde waitress would rather be on her phone than help the waiter In the back. We ordered Tandoori Masala chicken curry and Bhunna Paneer Curry. Food was cold, basmati rice was cold and sticky. Not a typical Chauhan’s experience.
I got food poisening
Loved it! Second time trying Indian food and it was awesome .
Food was amazing
First time to a true Indian restaurant. Waiter was extremely helpful. The food was fantastic. They let you gauge the heat level by bringing the Indian peppers to the table. Receive a small congratulations dessert. We will be back
The food was delicious! The staff had difficulty with our party of 9. We had a great time because our company was wonderful, but they thoroughly confused themselves when bringing our (quite simple) orders. Then proceeded to blame each other for mistakes made. Overall, the server seemed stressed and not happy to be there. Then a 20% gratuity was added to our (separate) bills. Honestly, we all agreed that we would have left bigger tips had she not done this. We'll more than likely go back again since this was probably just an "off" night for the staff. Again, the food was fantastic.
The food and drinks at Chauhan was delicious! My friend and I enjoyed our meal, but felt rushed by the server. Otherwise, we enjoyed the food and drink.
Always an excellent meal at Chauhan’s! Traditional Indian fare with a few fusion twists. Loved, loved LOVED the gulab jamun Cheesecake with strawberry sauce!
The Skirt Steak was amazing. Exceeded my expectations. Starter of Calamari is different, a Great different.
Great food, great drinks, great service! Our waiter was very nice and offered suggestions from the menu. We were happy with our selections.
This was our first time eating there. I wanted to take my wife to one of her favorite chefs. There was old Bollywood tv shows and movies with 5 projectors shown on the brick wall. The ambiance was amazing. The food was out of this world. I want to try her other restaurants now.
A surprising find. Excellent food and service tucked in to BBQ town!
We went here for brunch, and all four of us ordered chicken and waffles. This is the best dish. We love it and will be back. We also ordered the masala dabba and bread...the powdered mango spice mix is absolutely wonderful!
I was fascinated with my very first experience back in 2017. But it’s a same menu and okay in taste. Rajma was too blend and naan was little cold. We tried Paneer Tandoori Poutine it was good. Paneer tikka Masala was below average . I would not go second time.
This was a perfect way to celebrate my 25th birthday with friends! The service was prompt, relatable, professional and fun. The food was incredible, flavorful and exciting!! Everyone was so happy with the apps, drinks and their meal. I also was gifted a lovely dessert with a candle! Couldn’t recommend this place more highly. Even my vegan friend was blown away by her meal! It was all delicious.
Food and service was excellent. Great wine pairings.
My guest and I ordered appetizers and an entree each. My entree was delivered warmish and my guest's was delivered at an appropriate temperature. Mine was not good cold, however it tasted great the next day when I heated it in the microwave. Our server was lovely and delightful.
Salamat Maneet Chauhan, Vivek Deora and Team Chauhan for the wonderful service and food on Christmas Eve 2019 for dinner.
Everything was awesome
Fantastic experience that will bring us back again!
It was an Indian dining EXPERIENCE which made for a unique Xmas dinner night.
Food was excellent, with so many items and tastes I couldn’t name them all.
Waiter was very courteous and timely, though on two occasions he forgot to bring us plates for our various servings. Food was very timely until dessert, where we sat with nothing for some time before the cake showed up.
Overall, I’d write off the negatives to a busy Saturday night. We will be back again.
Dinner is always amazing! It’s one of our favorite places in Nashville! The chicken saag is my absolute favorite! My husband always loves the unique beer selection. But please get more high chairs. The first one that was brought for us was broken! Then we were told there might not be another. Luckily they found a not broken one we could use. Not having a safe high chair would have prevented us from having dinner there, because it’s quite difficult to eat with a baby on your lap! Thank you!
Great date spot. Solid Indian flavors. Some cool fusion offerings. Can’t go wrong here.
Accommodating and outstanding place!
Good food overall. Main issue was the noise. Very loud room. Great service.
I have been many times even entertaining clients. I am an executive at an Indian IT company in town and regularly recommend both your restaurants. Food and experience was overall good as usual but the hostess greeting me where I was hosting my local Nashville based team and I had a reservation of 5 greeted me with “what’s up”. I don’t expect that kind of greeting when I am about to spend &150 for lunch. Please educate your host staff that no one wants to be greeted with what’s up. How about. Welcome to Chauhan can I be of service. Or even happy holidays do you have a reservation with us. I will be glad to host an education session if needed. Otherwise excellent food and service.
