Overall excellent dining experience. The brussels sprouts appetizer was fantastic, as was the bone marrow. The shrimp and grits flavor was delicious; however, the grits were just a little more “soupy” than I prefer my grits to be having grown up in the south 😜. Excellent service and overall experience. Also note, the view is to die for on the patio that we enjoyed for a beverage before dinner and they were able to accommodate our request to sit near a window for dinner service. Thank you Château Morrissette !!!

Having two children, it’s difficult to find time for my husband and I to have some time just the two of us. When we finally do have the time, we make sure we do something very memorable and enjoyable. I’m so happy we chose Chateau Morrisette for our day date because it was so beautiful and fulfilled all of our expectations! Going during the wine sale was a bonus too! We will definitely be going back!

The food and service were wonderful! My husband and I were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary, and it was worth the drive from Mount Airy. The wine was delicious as well! My only regret is that we both wanted t-shirts from the store but there was a very limited selection and none in our sizes!! There seemed to be a million light blue long sleeve tee, but absolutely none in a medium!! My husband was looking for a short sleeve in XL and none could be found! That was our only disappointment.

The wine is excellent and the food is well prepared and tasty. Be sure to get a table on the terrace if the weather is cooperating. If you still have room after dessert, try a wine tasting over in the winery before you leave. This is a consistently reliable place to stop for a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

There are two seating areas within the restaurant. From the entryway, the one to the right is a noisy auditorium, the one to the left has smaller nooks and a much nicer ambiance. The food was priced well, not cheap, but appropriately and they will allow the tasting of any wine desired before purchasing. The wait staff is excellent.

We went for Easter brunch and thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

We have been going to Chateau Morrisette for more than ten years & this visit for our anniversary had to be the worst. When making the reservation we listed anniversary as our special occasion but it was never acknowledged by the host or our waitress. Our whole experience seemed chaotic like there was no management present in the restaurant. The food was OK except for our dessert of dried chocolate cake which seemed like there was an poor attempt to correct it by topping it with a layer of marshmallow followed by ice cream. We felt like the whole experience was not up to their usual standards.

I have always loved Chateau Morrisette, and they continue to do a really lovely job. It is a destination drive, and the views from the restaurant and patio are spectacular. They also allow dogs on the patio and in the tasting room, so your four footed companion can join you.

They were having a sale on their wine, which just made it even more fun :-)

Beautiful drive on a gorgeous day! Royally greeted and taken to a quiet table by the fireplace that had a roaring fire. Jennifer told us about several different wines and we ordered. Shrimp with grits and steak frites were superb! Every bite was enjoyed by both of us. Cheesecake with fresh figs topped off a perfect birthday celebration! We can’t wait to return! Service A+ and food and wine out of this world!

We've loved coming here for years whenever we are in the area. The food was delicious as usual and the setting beautiful. I feel that they were a little understaffed as the waitress had a large number of tables. She did her best but there should have been another server.

We have been to Chateau Morrisette on numerous occasions, but it seems this last time, the food was not quite as good. The Brussel sprouts were outstanding. I ordered the puff pastry with spinach, but it was lacking in flavor. We shared a couple of deserts - one was the cheesecake which was below par and the other was chocolate cake which was dry. I would like to see more vegetarian options in the future.

We love it here but were highly disappointed when we ordered our favorite item, duck eggs, only to find out they were removed from the menu the day before! The wait is unusually long for a only having a small number of people in the restaurant but we do enjoy the atmosphere, dining, scenic view, and the quaintness here so we will be back . However we hope they passed our disappointment to the new chef and will add the duck eggs back to the menu soon!

Our experience was lovely. The waitress and kitchen were accommodating for substituting one side for another. The food was absolutely mouthwatering and did not disappoint. The wines were wonderful. A real experience. If you visit during the day you will be able to take tour of the winery and gift shop. Chateau offers many other events of which we have not yet had an opportunity to experience, like the concerts and wine tastings.

My husband and I have been visiting Chateau Morrisette for at least 25 years and have loved every visit and meal! We love having Jennifer as our server in the restaurant. Often, we have our family and friends join us and so far all of them have enjoyed their experience as well!
We do miss the rack of lamb that was on the menu last spring. Please consider adding that entrée back to the menu.
Sincerely,
Debbie Robinson

Sorry to say, not the best....our appetizer was brought out just before our meal.....either she forgot to put it in, or someone forgot to bring it out. Several meals were not very hot, most meals were very tasty though.....

The good: great views! Food well prepared, service was great, warm fire burning, very cozy, great to do wine tasting beforehand.
Bad: several of the dishes we ordered were not available and we had an early dinner time. We were misled about the happy hour prices. Portions are small and very pricey. Only one vegetarian option and limited gluten free options.
Was a nice experience but probably wouldn’t eat there again.

Have been to the Chateau multiple times. Food is always excellent, although this visit food was not quite as outstanding as usual. Duck was a bit tough. Risotto was just too “plain”. Plus, given the high price points, entrees should really include a soup or salad. $25+ for a small portion of risotto with 4-5 asparagus spears, no bread, no salad, no soup is simply not a good value.

We love the setting and enjoy the food. There are three dining areas inside; the largest space of the three is attractive BUT the lighting is not romantic at all. We always ask to be seated in either of the two smaller dining rooms.

If you want to dine outside, you MUST reserve a table. It’s hugely popular for the view and the setting.

We have only one complaint, the bread at the table is awful. The local FoodLion artisan bread would be 1000 times better. Chefs come & go but somehow the restaurant maintains the quality. (Except the bread).

We were somewhat disappointed in our experience. Maybe this is a place to go in the summer - they have gorgeous views and outdoor areas. However, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. When we asked about the temperature we were told that the person who brings wood was sick and they couldn't build fires in the fireplaces. Odd on the surface, and there was a full cart of wood near the entrance. The food was adequate but uninspiring. We were there for brunch and had burgers. One was ordered medium and one medium well. They were cooked identically and both were charred on the surface. Fries were bland. Doubt that we will return.

We were disappointed they "were out of" firewood, so they had no roaring fires in any of the fireplaces on a chilly, cloudy day. They were also out of duck eggs, one of our favorite appetizers! Overall, OK, but not what we were expecting.
