What a wonderful place to spend a special occasion! The food is delicious and of great quality, and the service is excellent. We enjoyed every item we ordered and will definitely be back!
Me and my boyfriend went here for New Years Eve. They had decorated the tables with party hats and poppers which was really cute and for the restaurant being so busy, service was great and our waiter was very attentive. I had the filet and my boyfriend had the duck. Everything was cooked perfectly, but you may want to bring a packet of salt with you for your visit here. Everything was incredibly under seasoned and my boyfriends "glaze" that was paired with his duck had broken down to a light sauce at best. All in all, we enjoyed our experience and plan to be coming back!
Got the duck on New Years Eve
My guests really enjoyed their food, my wife and I got the duck, some pieces were over done, some were hardly cooked
Extremely disappointing
I downgraded the food in this review as they had a special menu. I ordered a shrimp and avacado salad; the shrimp were very small and had a distinctly metallic taste. The mild avacado dressing could not hide the foul taste. The fillet was excellent. I missed the opportunity to get the french onion soup as it was not on the menu. Desserts were quite small. for 2 people with 2 glasses of wine and 2 beer with tip my tab was $220.00
First time here and was nice. The food was tasty and very well presented.
The food was very overpriced. You could pay the same and experience a great meal at Commander's Palace.
The food was mediocre. Our appetizer looked like a pot pie from the freezer section. It also arrived to the table cold.
The patrons were all senior citizens. I was probably the youngest in there and I'm in my mid 30s. Our waiter however was very nice.
We had a great time as usual and will definitely be back. Ronnald always does a great job.
Wonderful as usual!
Wait staff friendly and knowledgeable
Superb dining experience.
True French cuisine...delicate flavors...fish cooked to perfection...really a favorite restaurant in New Orleans which is known for excellent dining choices.
I've eaten here several times and always come away totally impressed, smiling and satisfied!
Christmas dinner was Perfect! Thank you!
We went there for Christmas Eve and the food was excellent. The special menu had a good number of options and it really reminded us of the French cuisine we have for Christmas at home. The tables are a bit too close to each other to enable the waiters to circulate with discretion but it didn't change the fact that we had a perfect Christmas night.
The food was great and despite being completely full the service was great
This is one of my favorite restaurants. On Xmas Eve, the food was average at best. Had same experience last Valentine's Day. Plan to return on a non Holiday.
Wonderful meal to celebrate a pre
Christmas birthday !
Disappointed. Dined here many times, but restaurant clearly should not have accepted reservations for the few tables that it was not using for a private party of some 48 or so in its main room. Staff was focused on the party and lunch just was not what it usually is.
The food is amazing! We had two appetizers to share - Foie Gras is wonderful but also plated beautifully. Also we had a shrimp, artichoke & Spanish dish in a delicious tomato basil sauce. For our entrées - Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon and Scallops served over a light Beurre Bkanc All dishes were superb and authentically french except the Pommes Frites, which are usually a puffed twice fried potato, these were just regular French fries.
Always wonderful
Food is great
Wait staff professional and knowledgeable
Always great food, convenient, and super nice wait staff.
Outstanding , real French cooking
Wait staff is wonderful
The best true French restaurant in New Orleans, not Creole as most in Louisiana expect. Chef is from Britany. Fantastic duck mouse for appetizer. Fish dishes with great sauces. Hanger steak with a blue cheese sauce was also very good. Romantic small place and excellent wait staff who know and love the food.
Our favorite neighborhood gem. This is a restaurant family that is pure french (not creole.) All the sauces are delicate, the wines mostly french and the soft french language is spoken. The Fois gras is to die for!
The food was Fabulous and the service was the best. Ron our server knew I was a bit under the weather and even offered to make a hot water with lemon and honey for me--- not on the menu of course. Just being nice. We will definitely be back----- Thanks Ron!
up to its usual high standards!! I will be returning on Saturday night
The charcuterie platter alone was enough to make me come back to Chateau Du Lac ! The cheeses , curried meats and pate with champagne was the perfect way to start our dinner . The butternut squash soup was so yummy and the hanger steak was cooked to perfection !
There are a lot of restaurants in and around New Orleans that claim to be " French Cuisine " . Chateau Du Lac is authentic " French Cuisine " prepared by Chef/ Owner Jacques Saleun from France . Walking into his restaurant is like stepping into a Parisian Cafe !
Have been a number of times, for both lunch and dinner. Like to sit at one of the tables in the bar area. Authentic French food, well prepared and served. Nice wine list and choice of cocktails. Convenient parking across the street. Pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend.
This was our first time to dine here and we really enjoyed it. Our waiter, Merlyn, was very kind to answer my questions and gave me great advice on the sauce for my steak!
Ask for Jaume. Wonderful waitress. Will not disappoint. Very attentive.
Food good. Service very bad even though only 3 tables occupied. Ordered one wine and another was brought. Will think twice before returning.
On Mondays the menu is set so we were disappointed that we were unable to try more of what they had to offer.
Great restaurant, good food. Good place for a date night, special occasion, or just eating out.
Very disappointed. Lost liquor license for that week. Could not serve cocktails or wine. Food not worth money.
Did excellent job with food and service.
We are never disappointed at Chateau du Lac and thus was no exception. My floating island dessert was exceptional.
The online menu was different than what is on the website. When I arrived, I was told the entrée that I was looking forward to eating was not available. Since I drove out of the city (N.O.) just to get away from the French Quarter, I was quite disappointed.
We had a business dinner for 13 people and everyone enjoyed the evening a great deal. The food and service were outstanding. The staff was excellent. This was a terrific experience.
Just love this Resturant, it's out go to place 2x a month
Quality and preparation of all three dinners (soup du jour, escargot, steak frites, pompano, salads, apple tarte) were exceptional. Service, first rate. Highly recommended. We are locals and dine out regularly.
Chateau du Lac is one of our very favorite New Orleans restaurants and we go there every time we are in town. Thursday night was wonderful as usual but for some reason there appeared to be only one waitress for the entire restaurant. While she was pleasant and efficient she certainly could have used some help.
Outstanding food and service
The food reminds me of the food of Provence. The service is great. Love going there.
