Good and service were excellent!
Celebrated Fathers Day and a 40th anniversary with family. The only place we go for special occasions; never disappoints. Seven people, 6 different salads or appetizers and meals were all delicious; had to share. Kathy was friendly, efficient, and didn't miss a thing; all questions were answered and follow-up perfect. She's a gem.
The food was so delicious and amazing! Service was on it, water never low, requests brought right out and great personalities. Menu was not overwhelming and explanatory. Ladies got lemonata chicken and men got steaks. We were ALL very satisfied, from apps to dessert. Must have their gelato before you get up from the table. Exquisite dining!
Great evening all around.
The steaks was excellent
History of Charlie Gitto’s from our dining experiences has always been great food and service. We wanted to gather with some friends from Arizona who were staying in St. Louis, so our go to place is always Charlie Gitto’s. We weren’t disappointed last night either. It was a great evening! Thank you!!
Gitto's is the best place for pasta, veal, salads, steaks, . . . . OK, they do everything right!
It's old world service, amazing menu, superb wine list and the wait staff does everything to make the whole experience the best - ever!
The old part of the restaurant has charm, the new dining room is very comfortable and, if the St. Louis weather cooperates, the patio is an exceptional spot.
Always our favorite place for special occasions on The Hill!
By far the best Italian food I have ever had and the cannolis were to die for!! Service was amazing couldn’t ask for anything more.
Excellent meal. Our waiter Kwin suggested the Bass. It was excellent as was my wife’s Lasagna. Along with the caprese salad a wonderful 43rd anniversary meal.
Great setting. Service friendly but some food we ordered didn’t arrive in a timely fashion and some food we didn’t order arrived promptly! Food generally good, toasted ravioli especially so
Tables extremely close together
Our server, Quinn, was very attentive
It’s great. Just go and enjoy it!
It was my first time visiting Charlie Gittos and I will be back! My family and I had the greatest experience. It was a dinner for my birthday and they did nothing less of perfection. The food was incredible and recalling it has my mouth watering! The service was spectacular. Especially Suzan, who not only greeted us and ensured we were enjoying ourselves, but made us feel like family. If I could rate it 10 stars I would!
The service and meal were outstanding. We will definitely be back. The only negative would be the noise level but I realize that is hard to control.
Great food. Wait staff was wonderful. Would definitely go again.
Drove 7 hours to eat here! Best decision ever made!
Had my husbands birthday dinner here and it was amazing food and service was outstanding! Will be back again.
Great cocktails and bar. Request a table in the front main dining room as it’s the best atmosphere. This time we got put in the newer added on back room where they put big parties and families and it sounded like a cafeteria and lacked any specialness. Seafood risotto was great. We are not sure what the hype about the fries tortellini is as they were just meh. The tomatoes in the Caprese salad were not ripe and there was almost no basil on it. This place has lost some magic after this visit.
Always a great dining experience from the time you enter, the food and the service.
Food is amazing. Service great. It is pretty packed in so you are sitting very close to your neighbor and we had four people at our table which would have been more of a two too but otherwise no complaints - would definitely come back.
My wife is from St. Louis. I've been hearing about "The Hill" for over 40 years. When we had reason to be in STL recently, I insisted we have old school Italian one night. Charlie G's was exactly what I was looking for. Expected to see Joe Garagiola, Yogi Berra and Frank Sinatra rise from their graves and work the room. Oh yeah, the lasagna was divine.
Fabulous evening for the 6 of us from the moment we were greeted near the entry. The restaurant was very clean and we sat towards the back and it was lovely. Food and specialty beverages were delicious with many choices, plus the daily specials. Our server was attentive, very personable and professional.
Very nice place. Little pricey. Food and service excellent
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The service was perfect. The portions were great, not too large or small.
Overall very good.
We have been customers of Charlie Gitto's On-The-Hill for years. We appreciate the excellent food and excellent service. Everything is home-made from baked bread to the pasta. We have become familiar faces and are greeted with our names. Thanks always to our friend Derek, the Maitre D, who makes us feel like family.
Always “the best” of The Hill. Very dark - romantic!
Food was delicious and our server, Quinn, was excellent. Only issue was they put us at a table that was wedged into the middle of the main dining room, which was particularly disappointing given that there was a very good table for six in the second room.
Absolutely perfect in every way.
Hostess was extremely rude and bypassed us twice for other guest then yelled at us to go sit in a corner to wait. We brought out of town guests in and the food wasn't what was ordered and then sub par. Used to be our favorite restaurant such a disappointment.
Always enjoy myself at Charlie Gittos on the Hill - tasty, consistently good food, love the feel of the place and the good service.
Unfortunately, we were seated near a very boisterous party which made it difficult to hear my husband during conversation. However, the large group was very easy to hear😬. We deliberately went late on a Sunday night for some relaxation and fine dining - the food was delicious as were the cocktails, but the noise level was unpleasant.
As good as it gets! Love the food, the people, the atmosphere. If you haven’t been you’re missing out!
Excellent. Delicious food (though a little pricey for pasta) and impeccable service. One thing--they asked about special occasions on our reservation (celebrating both our birthdays), then mentioned it when we checked in. I thought it implied there might be a complimentary dessert or cocktail--but nothing. So I don't quite understand why they even asked. Otherwise, superb, romantic dinner.
Atmosphere was lovely. Come dressed nice for a quiet dinner. Menu had so many choices! I recommend the Sicilian dip for an appetizer using the bread to eat it on. Also the gnocchi bolognese was delicious. We finished off with the lemon cello cake which was scrumptious. Service was fabulous too! Highly recommend this restaurant!
We were able to get a reservation for 7 with less than 24 hour notice, we were sat immediately, service was impeccable, food was delicious and hot out of the oven! We are never disappointed when we come here and will be back sooner than later!
Brought a friend from Reno who loves Charlie Gitto's. Really enjoyed a new Tuscan wine and garlic bread, and of course, our entrees.
Being an East Coast girl from NYC a
Food and service were great. Ambiance was a little too dark. I dropped my glasses and could not see them because it was so dark.
