Consistently the best Charleston has to offer. Food, service, atmosphere - truly one of the best dining experiences to be had in this town.
great traditional place in a fine hotel in Charleston. Mickey is great, and wonderful wine selections
Charleston Grill is our absolute favorite restaurant for anniversaries, birthdays, or just a quite evening. The menu has a great selection, but the Crab Cakes and Scallops are my favorite! I can't find Crab Cakes like this anywhere. It is filled with the freshest, best tasting crabmeat, simple, but very flavorful and satisfying. I could make my meal just from the Crab Cakes.
The service here is top notch. You never have to look for your waiter or waitress to bring you anything, they are so attentive and not bothersome.
I give this restaurant 5 stars for their food, service, ambiance and highly recommend Charleston Grill!
Excellent service and ambiance. Menu is limited, but the food choices are across vegetarian, seafood and meat. Our meal was exceptional including the lobster cocktail, roasted beets, flounder and filet. A great venue for a soecial occasion, or just an evening with excellent food.
Food was delicious service was great
Birthday and new job celebration
ALWAYS the best option in Charleston!
Alex (the Hostess), greeted us with a smile, confirmed our reservation, and walked us to our table.
Mickey, the iconic maitre d’, recognizing me from a visit 2+ years ago, greeted us as we walked to our table and offered us a larger table, much appreciated.
Taylor and Jerry, our attentive waiters, introduced themselves and started us with an
amuse-bouche, a large cous cous with roasted broccolini, on a spoon. Interesting meld of flavors.
I started with the Fois Gras - on a toasted raisin bread point with roasted pear and the resulting syrup. It was PERFECT and rich.
My friend’s tenderloin was a reasonable cut, but a tad overdone on the outer edges, and we expected a more tender cut, however the bearnaise sauce was excellent. And the waiter accommodated my friend’s request for horse radish sauce as well. Her grilled asparagus and sauce disappeared quickly (she loved it).
I had the lamb chops which were THICK, meaty, and a perfect medium rare, with a lovely crust on the edge. The mashed potatoes were creamy, but a little salty.
Mickey checked on us to ensure our glass was filled. :)
We opted to share the listed VT blue cheese prior to dessert. Great taste and the toffee waffle thin and cocoa nib powder were a delightful accompaniment.
Finally, we shared the chocolate pudding cake with espresso ice cream and dried chocolate mousse bites; it didn’t disappoint, as it was a seriously good blend of flavors!
Taylor and Jerry finished the evening well for us with a small dish of beautiful truffles and cookies.
2.5 hours for a luxurious, relaxing and reasonably-priced dinner ($275, including a bottle of nice red wine and gratuities)! Thank you, Charleston Grill!!
Fabulous evening and service was excellent. Food was perfect for a special birthday celebration
This is one of the finest restaurants I've ever been to. I had the BRANZINO. It's some sort of fish from the Europe side of the pond. It was filleted and pan-seared skin on a Roasted Tomato ‘Nduja Butter, Fennel Salsa Verde. It was similar to sea trout. The skin was a bit crispy. It was excellent. I had Ahi Tuna and crab cake appetizer. Both superb. My wife had the beef tenderloin. Also superb. Probably the most extensive wine list I've ever seen. Service and ambiance as good as it gets. Very high classed. Acoustic guitarist and violinist playing softly in the background. It's very expensive but worth it. I have to say it would be my number 1 pick to return to. And you aren't crowded either. A couple sits at a table for four so you have plenty of room. If you can afford it you should go there. Our bill for two with tip was around $375.
Our 38th Wedding Anniversary dinner was a terrific experience. From the moment we were seated until we left we had outstanding service and the food was exceptional!
Celebrated our first dinner out in 2020 at this establishment - it was a fantastic experience! The ambiance is really romantic with a live band and a lovely decorated space. Service was on point and the food was delicious! We ordered the crab cakes, ahi tuna, lamb chops and the ribeye.
Wonderful - lives up to the reviews. Especially great was our waiter - Andrew. Very knowledgeable and attentive, but never disruptive. Would go back in a heartbeat.
One of my favorite dining experiences in over a decade. Thank you for the level of taste and subtleness in music, decor and super friendly service. I appreciate the lack of snobbery and stand oafishness that is so common today. Well done Charleston Grill
New Years Eve dinner! Nice place. Expensive but normal for New Years Eve dinner pairings.
New Years Eve
About ten years ago, I went with a friend and the service began attentive, however declined after a large party was sat behind us. The primary server brought us our food, but never came back to check us so we basically sat there for almost 15 minutes before an assistant ultimately brought us the check. He didn’t even ask about dessert, just the check! After that experience, I vowed I would never return.
Fast forward to now, my husband and I decided to book a room at the Charleston Place to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. He asked me how I felt about booking Charleston Grill for dinner. I was initially on the fence, but decided to go ahead and book it since so much time had gone by since the last experience.
When we arrived at the restaurant the service began great. The crab cake appetizer & lamb was good, but definitely not the best I’ve had. My husband wasn’t really impressed with the filet since it was supposed to be a 6 oz, but in reality was very small (looked like a 4 oz). He said it tasted good, but the quality & size wasn’t worth $50.
After the entree’s arrived, our primary server disappeared. We finished the food and probably sat there for another 20 minutes waiting on someone to clear the plates. During this duration of no service (alcohol drinks empty), we had enough time to pull up Google Maps to locate an alternative restaurant for drinks & dessert. Very frustrating!
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience that offers great service from beginning TO END, then I recommend visiting Halls Chophouse or Burwells. Charleston Grill is totally overrated!
Awesome time at the Charleston Grill! We were able to enjoy beautiful live music before dinner and spent the whole night there!
Ben and staff were great!! Fabulous dinner and great ambiance!
