We had the most wonderful anniversary at Charleston! The menu changes daily and they have a unique twist on prix fixe: you choose ANY three, four, five, or six items on the menu to create your perfect dining experience. Dessert is included in the price but does not count as one of your courses. Wine pairings with each menu item are optional. Every preparation was exquisite; the wines were interesting and perfect complements! We are foodies and try many restaurants — Charleston is NOT to be missed when you are in Baltimore! Seriously, there aren’t enough superlatives to recommend this fine dining gem!
Everything was perfect, as usual. Service is the best I’ve ever experienced, and Cindy Wolf’s food is to die for. Both Tony and Cindy are very friendly, go out of their way to greet you. An overall wonderful experience.
Frankly, one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Service, was outstanding! The chef was on point and this place totally deserves its rave reviews.
Tremendous experience. Food was sublime, waitstaff was flawless, and the restaurant accommodated special requests without hesitation. One of the best meals I've ever had - would highly recommend!
From the moment the valet opened my door, my wife and I were utterly blown away by the attention to detail every staff member used the whole night. From the Host greeting us and congratulating us on our wedding anniversary(something I had wrote in the special requests section), then seating us at a fantastic table with a window, to the server greeting us with another congratulations. Our server Jocelyn was incredibly knowledgeable and was remarkably able to describe each dish and make suggestions based on our wine selections. The food, the service, the ambiance, everything was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the dining experience as a whole, and that was thanks to the attention to detail of the restaurant staff.
Food was fantastic! The whole experience was great! The service was very attentive. The owner even introduced herself to my daughter, who is an expiring Chief and let her tour the kitchen. She even offered for her to do a shadow day! Wonderful experience! Definitely going back and recommending his restaurant!!
Fantastic dining experience but, be prepared, it’s expensive
Terrific service, outstanding food and the portions were larger than advertised
Elegant setting. Spectacular food, especially the duck. I can’t wait to go back.
The service was outstanding, almost over the top. The meal began poorly with only one of three breads palatable. Understanding that this is a $200/person dinner, the butter should be fresh and tasty. Each dish was fresh but not cravable. There is a reason fois gras is served with brioche toast and not crepe. Their business model is fresh French food with overpriced pairings of wine. I thought the ambiance was nice but I'm not convinced it was worth the price. Nothing was great and more than one thing was average or worse. I really wanted it to be fantastic for my 45th and mothers day, but it simply was not.
We came for our anniversary and loved every minute of it! Easily top 2 favorite restaurants! Food is out of this world, service is excellent! Can't wait to go again!
Always amazing! The complexity of the flavors is astonishing even while the dishes remain timeless classics. The service was attentive without being intrusive and our server was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. There is no dining equivalent in Baltimore.
Best meal we've ever had. Chef Cindy came by the table to say hello. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Everything was subtly elegant but not stuffy. Can't wait to go back.
Exceptional service, great menu. First time to visit, have been to sister restaurant Pazo, now Bar Valedquez. Will go back.
Another tremendous meal! We were there for a birthday and got truly special service. The food was excellent and inventive. The new preparation for the foie gras was beautiful, delicious and completely different than what we have had in the past. The special dishes with morels and hen of the woods mushrooms was wonderful and would serve as a great meat substitution dish if you are on a special diet.
Although we "only" had three courses, my wife and I were both stuffed. Wine pairings were well matched, interesting, and a good value.
Chef Cindy Wolf continues at the peak of her game!
One of the best restaurants in America. Worth driving from DC or Philadelphia for. I actually look forward to business trips to Baltimore so that I can dine here. Superb—-service, presentation, flavor, balance and overall experience.
Outstanding on all dimensions. Leaves nothing to be desired, even comparing to Michelin-starred restaurants. Service was friendly, efficient and highly knowledgeable. Food was outstanding: creative (without being overly so), well executed. Wine pairing was equally good. Highly recommend!!!
The only place in Baltimore with great service. Food was really good, staff was excellent.
It was my birthday and we had a four course meal the food and service were impeccable it really topped off our time for a girls weekend and the waiter was extremely helpful
Service, wine and food were all perfect. Open kitchen and everything was still nice and quiet. Perfect for a date night.
This restaurant features choices of 3 to 6 course meals (you can have more than 6, we were told). Pick the number of courses and then choose from the list of available dishes. Want six salads? You can have it. Want six proteins? You can have it. My wife and I chose 4 courses. We each made different selections so we could share. Nothing to complain about. Food was great, service attentive but not intrusive, and they even knew where we sat on our last visit. Charleston is expensive but worth it, because the chef, Cindy Wolf, is a master of her craft.
A culinary journey! We loved it all from the great service, delicious meal and romantic setting.
The food and the service exceeded our expectations. This has become the top of our short list when we want a special night out.
Chef Wolf's menu was awesome as usual and the staff did a nice job of wishing my wife happy birthday. Always a awesome evening at the Charleston.
Kudos for excellent food, imaginative menu, and exemplary service.
Exquisite experience overall, congratulations to everyone in the team, you can tell everyone loves to work there
I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the country and nothing can compare to the quality of the food at Charleston. The menu is interesting in its diversity and the way one orders. You may choose three, four, or five courses, with dessert included and not counted as a course.
Every course that we ordered was fabulous, but I would recommend that you definitely include the Lobster soup in your choice of courses.
This is one FINE restaurant!
We went for my 65th birthday and will definitely be back. Everything was excellent and our waiter Josh went above and beyond to ensure our visit was one to remember. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were spot on. Highly recommend a visit to this excellent restaurant.
Best restaurant in Baltimore! Pricey but worth it for a special occasion. There is nothing on the menu that isn't fabulous. Portions are small but we were still quite full when we finished our meal. Wine list is very extensive. Service is impeccable. Free valet parking is a plus. If you are looking for a true gourmet meal, go to the Charleston.
The best compliment I think I can give is that this place is every bit worth the cost.
Tasting menus take some experience to do right but the service was very good at guiding an inexperienced couple to the right decisions. We went in very hungry and a 4 course pairing was both suggested, accepted and proceeded to put us to the limit of our appetite.
Wine pairing is great if you don’t know what you like and/or want to try something different. For instance, they paired a lobster soup with a full-bodied sherry, a bold choice.
The cocktails are also fantastic. One of the best Old-fashioneds I’ve had and I let them choose the whiskey.
For a very special occasion it can be difficult to choose a once-a-year or even once-a-lifetime investment in a meal but they did an excellent job and we never felt the least bit rushed during our two and a half hour meal.
Book with confidence and go all in. You won’t be disappointed.
Amazing food and service! One of the best meals I have had... worth the money!!
Chef Wolf never disappoints! She can make a piece of lettuce taste like the best meal you’ve ever eaten. All the staff is top-notch and will go above and beyond to ensure that you have a good experience. Josh was our server last night and was wonderful. As long as this restaurant is around, we will keep coming back.
A superb dining experience; varied, delicious, artfully plated, well paced courses served in slightly indulgent, yet comfortable elegance. Every staffer encountered was comfortably professional and their collaboration was impressive. The drive from Frederick County to celebrate our anniversary was well worth it and we will be back.
Excellent fine dining experience. Staff was exactly what you'd hope for in such a place. Helpful and welcoming. Never thought seasonal mushrooms could outshine so many other amazing dishes.
Unusual for this restaurant to have specials but they had Beef Wellington and it was excellent . . . as were all of the on-menu items highlighting spring vegetables such as spring pea soup and artichoke soup. Tasso ham in the Shrimp and grits is great. Service is always good. Wine list is great but wines by the glass are really nice as you can get 6 oz or 3 oz pours of a pretty big selection (what is on the menu and what they offer from their wine pairings) and they have a few select wines by the glass (such as Petrus and Sine Qua Non) via their cruvinet or coravin wine system. Desserts come with dinner and are always great.
Fine dining European style, worthwhile traveling to Baltimore just to find here. Chef Cindy and her team simply rock.
A wonderful dining experience! The service was exceptional! Before we could ask for anything our servers anticipated our needs. The wine recommendations were perfect with our meal selections. We would not miss the opportunity to dine here on any future trips to Baltimore!
A weekend in Baltimore is not complete without a visit to Charleston. This was our third. We like the seriously gourmet and innovative menu which allows you to choose the number of courses according to your appetite. (4 courses is about right for the average appetite.) All our choices were excellent but we particularly loved the halibut and the foie gras.
Loved Charleston. Oysters, lobster curry, scallops, and grilled sea bass were stellar. Worth the trip from Potomac.
