We thoroughly enjoyed every moment at Charleston. From the free Valet parking to each and every wait staff member - we felt pampered and special. Service goes above and beyond to accommodate every need and want. The food was impeccable (and we are picky foodies). If you are looking to impress someone or enjoy a special occasion this is the place to go!
Phenomenal experience. Will definetly come back. The Sommelier, Lina, was AMAZING!!!
The Perfect Manhattan wasn’t. They implied that the cheese course was included in the prix fix, it wasn’t- $8.00 per choice. Very expensive for an ok meal.
Traveling on business and decided to check this place out based on reviews. All I have to say is that this place is absolutely amazing. Probably the best meal I have ever had! 😀
Our company attends the Natural Products show at the Baltimore Convention Center each year and our group looks forward to our dinner at Charleston every year. It is my favorite restaurant ever and Chef Cindy Wolf and her team are amazing. When you go to Baltimore you must dine at Charleston. It is a wonderful culinary experience.
Fixed price menu where you pick from the entire menu selection for each course. Everything was prepared exquisitely. Excellent.
An extraordinary experience from beginning to end. The valet parking was painless, the service and ambience were impeccable, and the food and wine pairings were Michelin-level extraordinary. The Inn at Little Washington remains our favorite out-of-body dining experience, but Charleston is not just a very, very close second; but is at least two hours nearer to our home in Anne Arundel County. We'll absolutely be back!
Charleston is the best restaurant in Baltimore in my opinion. Very expensive but worth it. My wife and I came here for the first time last year and have been back several times since then. All of the food is top notch, I would listen to any staff recommendations because a lot of my favorite dishes were items I would not gravitate toward had it not been brought up. Must get the lobster soup if it’s your first time and if they’re available try the duck with foi gras and the sable tart
We went to Charleston for a birthday dinner and the food was amazing. We tried to do the 6 course tasting menu but the portion sizes were substantial, so we had to change it to 4 course. All tasting menus include a dessert. Lobster soup was by far my favorite thing on the menu but everything was delicious. The fois Gras was really good as well but the duck was a little tough. Next time we will do only 3-4 courses. Service was impeccable.
We were celebrating milestone birthdays and enjoyed the 5 course dinner with wine pairings. What a perfect way to celebrate! Definitely worth the cost for such a special experience.
Impeccable service. Food was hit (buffalo tenderloin, grilled quail) or miss (crab cake, shrimp & grits). The lobster soup was amazing! The chocolate pot de creme was a delightful way to end the meal. Request a seat near the open kitchen to watch the carefully choreographed action.
A very special meal, excellent service, beautiful table settings. The only thing that would have made it perfect is lower prices, but I am aware you get what you pay for. 😆
Charleston is a dining experience like no other! From the best food ever to steamed and ironed table clothes it is a culinary delight!
Overall atmosphere is wonderful perfect restaraunt for a special occasion. Very upscale and impeccable service. The moscato wine was the best i ever had. My fave would be the Rockfish and my husband enjoyed his duck but wished he had at least 2 slices. The dessert was not good at all i found market desserts to be better. But overall a good place anyone should experience for a special night.
Very good food, great atmosphere, large wine list, great service, and expensive.
Fabulous experience at the Charleston! It's been on my list of restaurants to visit for awhile now and it did not disappoint!! Cant wait to go back!
Wonderful dining with attentive staff. Food amazing
Went to the Charleston for an anniversary dinner. The wait staff were all very polite and friendly. The food was excellent, the restaurant was very romantic and the atmosphere was very formal.
We started the tradition of coming here for best friends birthday celebrations and we will go no where else. The service and food are exceptional.
Food and experience were good but not worth the money
We felt underdressed for the Charleston, but despite our attire, the staff treated us with respect and like all the other more well-dressed diners. They even accommodated our request to sit by the window so we could have a view of harbor. Dinner is set up as a prix fix and we chose the 3 course option paired with wines, after starting with cocktails. They have an extensive wine list and this allowed us to try wines we were not as familiar with. I am usually not a white wine fan, but one of my paired wines was so delicious, the waiter wrote down the year and winery for me. All the courses were fresh, delicious and just the right portion. We were actually full after 3 courses, and were surprised when we learned that dessert was included, as we planned on splitting our dessert. The food was excellent, refined, rich and satisfying. The Charleston is more expensive than other dining options in downtown Baltimore, but the cost matches the high quality you will receive in atmosphere, service, food and cocktails/wine.
Our service was thoughtful and attentive. There was a large selection for any type of eater. My only complaint was that when our entrees were brought out mine had only one scallop, the lamb had several pieces, the buffalo was a nice size serving but to have only one scallop seemed stingy in comparison to the other servings.
I celebrated my 70th birthday at the Charleston. The experience was amazing.
Great food. Incredibly professional staff.
Our 14th year at this fabulous restaurant! Creative food that tastes amazing and by far the best staff that is knowledgeable, efficient and friendly.
As usual Charleston’s never disappoints.
Great ambience, food, wine pairings and service. In a word, wonderful!
The service was impeccable. Patrick, our server, was attentive without being overly intrusive. And his knowledge of the food outstanding.
This was the second visit to Charleston for my wife and i, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Once again we were very pleased with the food and the service. We have dined at most of the top NYC restaurants like Eleven Madison Park, Per Se, Danielle, and Bouley. Charleston is in par with them at a fraction of the cost. You can choose the number of courses from a nice menu and the dessert is on the house. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the menu and cheese and wine and the entire staff were very professional. We strongly recommend Charleston to anyone celebrating a special occasion.
An amazing dining experience from beginning to end!!
Unlike other restaurants of this caliber that I have visited, Charleston focuses on presenting ingredients in their whole and nearly complete form. The creativity and effort that goes into each dish is stunning. Service operated like a highly coordinated and well-oiled machine. I had the opportunity to visit several Michelin stared restaurants this summer but I would say that Charleston is still absolutely my favorite dining experiences by far. On this visit it was my wife's birthday and they really went out their way to make it a very special evening for her. The pan-seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras prepared with the brioche toast and fried quail egg and Bual Madeira reduction was extraordinary. The roasted local sweet corn bisque with the lump crab was absolutely heavenly. It was like a beautiful symphony while eating it. The Quail and Lamb were equally delicious. The great thing about Chef Wolf is that will never be disappointed in her creativity and what she is able to do with things coming out of her garden.
This restaurant is hands down one of the best restaurants in which I have dined and that includes major dining experiences both in the U.S. and Europe. Just outstanding.
We decided to dine a The Charleston for our anniversary and the staff did not disappoint. Between the amazing cuisine and the outstanding staff, 5 stars does not describe our experience. Thank you for an unforgettable evening.
Awesome. Best in area. Every dish was a gem.
Yes the cost is extreme, expect to pay at least $300 a couple but it is worth every cent! The food is incredible, there is not a dish that will disappoint and few that will surprise your tastebuds to new levels. However, equally as impressive is the service. The knowledge and personalities of the service staff is first class. The Charleston is an experience. People will pay $300 to be stuck in long lines for the experience at Disney World. Do your tastebuds and soul a favor and treat them to a the Charleston experience you will remember it for a life time.
Every course was a gem! Delicious dishes showcased amazing quality ingredients presented with beautiful details perfectly placed on the plate. Each bite was heaven. The eggplant soup - so much amazing flavor! Our cocktails were the best as well - Summer Cup was gorgeous to look at and especially to drink. Service was outstanding and so kind - I want to be friends with everyone who works there!
It’s no wonder this is the top-rated restaurant in the area ... the atmosphere is super professional and the food is phenomenal! Our server was 100% knowledgeable about everything on the menu (including the extensive wine list) and it felt like we were the only table in the restaurant. Don’t expect a cheap meal or large portions. You can choose 3, 4, 5, or even 6 courses of your choice, and have the option to have wines paired with each course if you like. Highly recommended for special occasions ... and be sure to dress the part as well!
if you leave this restaurant without getting the Lobster Soup you WILL regret it!!!
Absolutely, wonderful culinary experience to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary ... fond memories of a well-appointed meal.
Everything this great chef prepares is outstanding.
I am always looking for authentic places to eat and take notice of the ambience, the food and the service. I was impressed with every aspect during my dinning experience. I look forward to coming back and trying other dishes in the menu!
