Charcoal Steak House Ratings and Reviews
The service was good. She made a mistake on our bill but then corrected it when we asked about it. I didn't think the meal was worth the cost of the bill. I probably wont be back in a long time. It is way to costly for a regular meal. I got the french onion soup for the starter, steak and mash for dinner. It was the Valentines Day Special. I don't think it was worth the $65 a person.
Six of us for my mothers 78th Birthday. Started off with some excellent cocktails. All meals ordered were wonderful from beginning to end with most in our party ordering the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked. What made this meal exceptional though was the professionalism of our excellent server (wish I could remember her name) and from the manager who accommodated us with the birthday cake we brought in. He even had it fixed up as it took a bit of a tumble in the box prior to our arrival. It was a meal to remember and the birthday girl was thrilled. Would definately recommend for a special occasion.
We're regulars at the Charcoal Steak House. The steaks and sea food are always excellent. So, too, the appetizers. Service is friendly and prompt. Strangely, they have stopped offering a bread service, which is a bit disappointing for an establishment with $40--$60 prices. Usually the music is quiet and tasteful. This time the volume was too high and was turned down on request. More annoying was the selection, which was more suitable for a night club/dance party than for fine dinning. These two items lowered my over-all rating.
Went there for our anniversary. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the steak frites. It was odd that the steak came presliced but you could see it was cooked perfectly. The Parmesan truffle fries was to die for. It came with extra shavings of Parmesan which was pleasant surprise. My husband had the seafood risotto. The flavour was incredible. Plenty of seafood that wasn't overcooked. Just wished there was more rice!
Love charcoal but was disappointed how rushed our meal was, getting our entrees before finishing our starters. The mushroom butter on the steaks we ordered was not melted (is it put on frozen?) and potatoes were cold. Not worth the money this time but have had better meals there in the past.
The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The wait staff was professional and friendly, our waitress was a delight to talk to and very attentive. The manager made sure everything was OK for us. We were asked about the occasion and received a free dessert to share, very nice touch. We come to the area several times a year and make a point to have a meal here.
We have dined many times over the years at the Charcoal . I have found that over the years the prices no longer match the food quality, service or ambiance. It was quite loud. We waited 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. I have gluten inolerance and received very little help from the server. I order white wine with my soup and had to remind her. I got it shortly
before I finished my soup. Two of our party ordered steaks with loaded potatoes. (The steaks were very tasty.) The added $4 for the loaded potato was poor value. It had 2 or 3 bacon bits no visible chives or cheese and the tiniest dollop of sour cream. Hardly loaded. Our server was somewhat inattentive though friendly enough. She seemed preoccupied and didn't inquire about cocktails beforehand. Perhaps she was inexperienced. Over priced and under serviced. Oops.
Everything was great. We’ve been to the Charcoal many times but have found it to be too dark in the past. I thought it was properly lit on Saturday. I service was great and the timing of when things arrived was quick and efficient. I know some people like to make entire night out of dinner but I liked how they paid attention to our pace
I had the carrot, squash and ginger soup, with garlic-parmesan bread to start. Both were very tasty. The main course was the chicken and mushroom penne, which was excellent. Our server was attentive, helpful, professional and knowledgeable. I didn't try the wine list. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.
Seemed they were low on food. Some items not available. The waldorf salad was just cabbage. About four miniscule bits of blue cheese. The salmon entree was about 3 ounces. Been there before and it was great but not this time. Our reservation was made as a birthday celebration but there was no acknowledgment of it. So why ask? Disappointed
