Centrolina came highly recommended and it was even better than we expected. They start with a traditional Italian menu but just about everything we had also included a personalized touch that elevated, while respecting, the traditional preparation. It was great to discover that they would serve half-size pasta dishes as antipasto options. This made it possible to sample the fabulous triangular burrata and guanciale ravioli with a subtle lemon zest sauce before tackling our entrees. A comfortable, but not elegant, dining room with a lot of hard surfaces that contributed to the noise level.

Always a good dining experience: Chef Brandwein joins fidelity to high quality Italian cooking and ingredients with imaginative flair. Wonderful pastas, perfectly prepared, and fine first courses as well. The desserts are also exceptional. The service is alert, efficient, and helpful, top-of-the-line. I eat of often in DC, and I would put this restaurant near the very top of my list of favorites.

We had a 1pm reservation and arrived early at 12:30. We checked in with the hostess and when she told us she likely couldn’t seat us early we got a seat at the bar. The bar only had 7 people at it but we waited quite a long time for service. 1 pm came and went and I had to go check in with the hostess for our table. We were seated at 1:15 next to a loud group of women though there were other tables available. The service was fine - slow but not terrible so - but didn’t match the level of food. Overall really good food but I was disappointed in the level of service especially since it was a special occasion for us.

The food and setting were superb, but I would like to call attention especially to the wonderful service. Our waiter was excellent. His timing and number of trips to the table were perfect. With so many mediocre waiters these days, it was a pleasure to be served here.

Outstanding experience. Tim took good care of us. Was very knowledgable and gave great recommendations. Chef is very creative but not too much - just right. I would call it “Fun Italian”. Excellent Zappa, pasta, and steak. My wife is a foodie and gourmet cook and she was absolutely thrilled with Centrolina. Highly recommend!

Outstanding experience and should not be missed on a trip to D.C. Creative, delicious and approachable dishes made with care and all the very best ingredients. Fresh, intense flavor combinations from the chef and a treat from start to finish. The scallop and squid pasta is a must and the ravioli was delicious. Lovely selection of desserts. Start to finish a win.

Our very most favorite lunch spot. We have lunch here almost every time we come to DC. Best pasta you could ask for, and the dishes meet the mark as well. This place is definitely a must! If we ever have lunch somewhere else, when in town - we feel like we are cheating. It's that good.

Delicious clean Italian cuisine. In-house made pastas, lightly but richly sauced. Don't miss out on some meat or seafood (or vegetables) from the wood-burning oven - amazing! Wonderful cocktail and wine selections.
Service was good, but I had to knock a couple stars because the waiter went missing and let our wine run out between courses - ran out with the appetizer, and more wasn't brought until halfway through the entree.

Booked Centrolina for a birthday weekend lunch during Christmas season. City Centre is beautifully decorated so it felt very festive. The restaurant itself is pleasant and the food and service were very good. On the slightly negative side, the tables are a little crowded and they had run out of a couple deserts by the time we were ordering. As to food, I had the arugula and shaved pear salad and although it was good, I personally thought the pear to arugula ratio was off (too few pears). We had arancini for the table and they were great, and the ravioli was great as well. I would go back, especially would like to go for dinner.

Centrolina has become our "go to" restaurant when we have friends and family visiting from out of town. The food and service is consistently among the best in DC. The pastas and grilled fish are always perfectly prepared. The menu changes based on the season and the chef's incredible imagination. It is almost always filled so it can be a little noisy at times, but that's a minor detail in what is an extraordinary dining experience.

It was a second time at Centrolina to celebrate a birthday in a lovely upscale atmosphere, viewing chefs at work in the open kitchen. Beginning with a nice assortment of breads with oil, and a terrific Italian Derby or a traditional Old Fashioned cocktail was a great way to start the evening. But it's Amy Brandwein's dishes that remain the star. Her pastas are outstanding; you would not go wrong with any one of the choices. A creatively executed roasted eggplant contorini is a light accompaniment to the meal. The fish dishes were nicely prepared though the whole branzino required a little work on the diner's part; the Grigliata, a seafood melange, had a lot going on; would have enjoyed more than one wonderfully seasoned shrimp among all of the other seafood. Both diners enjoyed the fresh daily fish options. Our server graciously offered tastes of the different wines we were considering, ensuring we would be happy with our selections. Desserts were a treat as well with the birthday girl receiving hers with a glowing candle. The only drawbacks to the evening were at the outset, the hostess who was not very kind after an apology was extended for our late arrival; and, there was a glitch in the timing of our entrees which made for a long wait and a late evening. Bumps in the road do happen, but the staff at this very professionally run restaurant made certain that we could overlook the inconvenience.

Food was excellent. We got the gnocchi and the rib-eye. The waiter recommended both and both were amazing. The waiter was excellent as well. He was knowledgeable and friendly. I asked about wine and he knew immediately what to recommend. I would go again. 10/10

Nice looking, trendy, place. Service was good. However, I REALLY just didn’t care for the food. Appetizer of scallops was quite good, but that’s where it stopped. I got fire grilled sea bass, and it tasted like i was eating burned wood - I like sea bass normally, this really wasn’t a good preparation. My partner got pasta that was not terrible, but not good either - very middle of the road. I wanted to like this place, but if i am going to spend $125 on a meal, I want to like it. Unfortunately, just too expensive for the quality of the food.
