Central Bakery Ratings and Reviews
I met my friend here for dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant was pretty empty, just a few tables were filled so it was nice & quiet. Our waiter, who was very attentive, brought us a basket with 3 types of breads to try. And while we were enjoying our appetizer, he brought us another type of bread fresh from the oven. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! I think he said it was called "bread & salt". YUM! For our appetizer, we ordered a prosciutto/fruit plate. I'm not a fan of meat with fruits, but my friend really liked it. For dinner, she ordered a pasta with clams. I can't remember the name but I think it started with a "v". She seemed to really like it. I ordered the portobello mushroom pasta & it was good. For dessert, we shared a chocolate-raspberry tart which I thought was really rich & delicious (and I don't even like raspberries!). My friend thought it was "okay", but she didn't care for the consistency of the gelatinous raspberry topping. I did NOT mind that & ate it all! The chef & head waiter (both Japanese) had come out to greet a little, adorable Japanese boy who was dining there with his family. So as we left they were near the exit & thanked us & bowed to us. It was very sweet! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience! I want to go back at lunch-time to try their sandwiches & other desserts.
I was surprised that on a Sunday afternoon the restaurant wasn't busier than it was. The pre-meal breads set on the table- along with the additional rolls brought during the meal- were delicious and certainly fresh. A nice change from the usual as most restaurants.
Service was friendly and excellent with no rushing around.
A perfectly-timed early dinner before a movie! Thank you for the hospitality!
We like the restaurant but were disappointed with the way we were treated regarding
our bringing in drinks. We called and was told that because you didn't serve hard
liquor, we could bring it and that Wine was $15 a bottle. That was okay.
When we got there, the owner had his assistant tell us we weren't allowed to have our
drinks and could not drink it! That was RUDE! After telling us on the phone that we
could bring the hard liquor. We almost walked out but decided to stay and pay the
$15 wine corkage!
We will Not be back.
This is the third time we dined at Central and it was surprisingly better than the first two times. All the entrees we ordered were well prepared and tasty. Had the shrimp pasta, mozzarella pasta and the fresh onaga fish. Only downside was that the fish was small for the price (42).
The service was great and the fresh bread was tasty and warm.
Enjoyable Sunday dinner.
We love to go there because staffs are so good, menu are so interesting and tasty and location is next to Kahala post office. That is why we went there often. Occasionally, I visited there just to purchase breads. They baked at the restaurant, so you may enjoy fresh breads. Please try some for take home.
