The restaurant was very loud and could not hear the waitress when she was at the table. The food was average. One entree was delivered cooler than lukewarm.
We have had better meals at this venue
We went for a birthday, super sweet but probably new server. They were out of a few things which I totally get and forgot to comp the dessert (seriously no biggie all around). Tasty food, especially the mushroom pizza.
The food is delicious. Make sure you order bread and butter. I know most places give it to you for free, but it is worth the money. The carbonara is fabulous although I would prefer it on spaghetti or fettuccine. The desserts were good, but not great. It is the only thing they need to work on. The rest of the food is excellent.
Came and ate for brunch on Sunday. A last minute reservation opened up as they were fully booked the night before. Always a good idea to check morning of in case of cancellations!
Our server, Will, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Boozy brunch was a steal!
Always a great time at Cento
It is overpriced. The food is good, but not a good value.
Cento welcomed our party of seven with grace. Our waitress was attentive. The food was excellent, the best ravioli I have ever eaten. The appetizers: warm olives and fried artichokes were unique and delicious. The setting is elegant, modern, spacious, across from Madison's beautiful Overture Center for the Arts.
My only complaint was the energetic, enthusiastic restaurant patrons made it difficult to hear conversation from all members of our group.
Started at the bar with Zack our bartender. Excellent professional presence. Nice and friendly. Very accommodating to our drink requests.
Hostess balanced our time at the bar to seating us.
Our waiter William paced our meal well.
The food was excellent.
Tried the bacon wrapped date appetizer for the first time. It was wonderful to share at the table.
Tiramisu for dessert topped off the meal.
Just in time to walk across the street to see a show at the Overture Center.
Perfect evening with friends.
The hostess was very accommodating. The time it took for the meal to arrive seemed unusually long for what was ordered.
Great food, good service, and right across the street from the Overture Center.
The food was delicious. However, some plates of pasta were too small for the price (ex. beef agnolotti). The carbonara was delicious, but it didn’t taste like a carbonara (it was more like a cheese pasta with an egg on top - would still recommend eating it).
You can tell that the chef really knows his food. His menu choices are all delicious and amazing. We both found dishes that we love!
Everything was immaculate
Incredible meals both beautifully presented and layered with complex, delicious flavor. As an artichoke lover, trying the Roman Fried Artichokes was a treat and one of the best ways I have ever had them prepared. The various homemade pastas - a dream. It was my partner and my anniversary and we both agreed it was absolutely superb, all finished with a kind gesture of the waitress bringing us a complimentary dessert to celebrate the occasion.
Great pasta and wine choices and good service
Great service and food! We have been looking to try out this restaurant and it did not disappoint.
Birthday - complimentary dessert!
Food was amazing & our server Joanna made the night extra special. She did great with the wine pairing as well. Highly recommended.
Cento was unbelievable in every aspect. They accommodated my requests, were very attentive at the table and represented themselves well. Not to
Mention damn good food.
All very good except felt pushed more so than providing good service. Had 6:00 pm reservation and thought should be able to converse with our friends til 7:30 or so but got feeling it was eat and get.
Food was lukewarm. Chicken Parmesan was not seasoned properly. Fillet was good but overcooked. Not worth the money.
Whenever I go to Cento the food is delicious and the staff is very helpful. I love how close it is to the Overture and the Library. I enjoy visiting when I dine so I am pleased that it is not so loud.
Always have a great experience at Cento! It’s one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. Always great service as well!
This was our first time dining at Cento--it's gorgeous inside with old original wooden floors and the location (directly across from Overture Center) can't be beat. The waitstaff was impeccable and the menu offered a large variety of foods and price points for a nicer restaurant. It was also fun seeing that Samin Nosrat was dining there before her talk that we went to later in the evening! We had some issues with the food which was our only compliant: the panzanella salad was weird (chunks of ice cold tomatoes served with large, rock-hard crouton pieces that didn't soften) and all of the the food was generally under-seasoned (with no salt/pepper on the table to remedy this.) For example, my gnocchi with broccoli rabe was a good start--some sea salt on the top and a swipe of lemon zest would have made it a million times better and the bites less monotonous (I did this at home with my leftovers, and it was so much tastier). The affogato for dessert was divine. I would make a point of revisiting in the future and hope the kitchen makes a few changes.
A delicious new twist to Italian standards. The names of the entrees were familiar but how they were prepared and presented was refreshingly different.
Great location. Great ambiance. Happy hour specials were a nice surprise!
Great food, friendly service, right across the street from the Overture Center -- -- what's not to like?
A wonderful dining experience. When even the salad is fantastic, you know you're in for something special.
Beautiful setting and delicious food. Attentive service. Will be back.
The food was not up to the quality I would expect. One person out of four enjoyed their meal. We won’t go back.
Loved the ambience. The chicken parmigiana was not that tasty. It was thick & the spaghetti was not flavorful. The pork dish was absolutely delicious & the appetizers were great. Our server was great & gave us a free dessert because I didn’t like the chicken dish.
Short staffed on Thursday or inattentive waitress. Also seemed annoyed and when we asked if we could order said “give me a minute” and then didn’t come back for 15+ minutes. It was rude for this level of restaurant, especially. Expect more when I’m paying these prices. Also, was celebrating a birthday, she just wasn’t friendly:( She was however, very knowledgeable.
Waitress vanished after we were done eating. Gone for about 15 minutes before we got our check. Had a show to get to. Too noisy for us senior citizens... but delicious pasta dishes and reasonable wine list.
Food was good and server was very sweet! Would recommend
Food was great, service good but the food came out too fast. We had almost finished our dinner before we got our wine.
Having a menu with vegan options would be helpful. Although our server, Megan ,did a great job making everything work
Birthday. Appreciated the free and excellent dessert. It was too loud overall, and the sauce on the chicken Parmesan could have been more flavorful. Excellent service, panzanella salad and tiramisu.
We enjoyed the beef shortrib agnolotti--it was exceptional! The staff is very engaged in quality of service and fare. You will enjoy--but book early if you are planning a special event.
We had brunch with our daughter and three year old grandson. Our server, Morgan, was excellent. She saw we needed timely service and even brought a few extra cappuccino cookies for our grandson. The pancakes and French toast were delicious. All in all a great Sunday brunch.
Had good service, and food was timed well. Flavors could have been bolder. We asked for hot peppers and they accommodated us.
It was one of the beat dining experiences I’ve had in Madison. Enjoyed every aspect of cento! Will definitely be back!
