Excellent place for fresh seafood. The service was perfect.
This is a competent seafood restaurant with the down-home feel of mashed potatoes and vegetables that come included with dinner. The service was unnecessarily solicitous, but I suppose that reflects the midwestern location. Seafood was good quality and well-prepared, I suppose that is the main point.
This is our go-to place before the symphony. They offer a nice perk in that they deduct the price of valet from the dinner bill if you have tickets to an event in the loop. The fish is always fresh , well prepared and they have several offerings. My husband got the pre-fixe meal which was reasonable at $37.00 for soup or salad, main dish and desert (which is large enough for two to share).
We enjoyed this location for the first time in a number of trips to Chicago. It was absolutely excellent, the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was quiet and romantic.
Great food and service!!
Tito was an outstanding server.
Excellent meal, fresh fish. Back room was a little loud. Great spot for before/after theatre....can walk to most theaters in 5mins. Excellent service & they got you in & out very fast.
Catch 35 is a bustling spot and the food is always at least good, sometimes better. On my most recent visit (it is near theaters I attend) I had the prix fixe, which had limited choices in the first two courses, but allowed for any dessert on the menu. I had the New England clam chowder, which was pleasant and creamy, but perhaps not ideal when more food is to follow! My main course, a tuna poke bowl, was beautifully presented and ample in amounts of tuna, avocado, kale, radish, seaweed, all in a tahini dressing. The service, though well meaning, was amateurish. The waiter called us " guys" (we are an older mixed gender couple) and often had to be asked twice for items, such as the cocktail menu.
This is the first time of many Open Table reservations that we had an unsatisfactory experience. We arrived at 5:45 with plenty of time to eat and make it to the theater with time to spare. Our waiter was told that we were going to the theater, so there were no surprises. We both ordered him and tonics before dinner....one with Hendricks and one with Tanqueray. Our waiter ordered Bombay Saphire instead. We ordered the Pre fixed menu so we would have no time issues. Food was adequate but not great. Following dinner we sat for 30 min waiting for our table to be cleared and for our waiter to reappear with a dessert menu. We had to flag him down and remind him that we were trying to get to the theater. Fifteen minutes later he brought our ticket and the dessert menu. The desserts came at 7:20 and our theater tickets were for 7:30.....not exactly the relaxing and pleasant dinner we had planned. Next time we’ll go someplace other than Catch 35. Our $125 dinner didn’t measure up.
We went pre-theater for my father's birthday. He is a pretty picky eater but enjoys a beautifully cooked piece of fish, and that is what we got. The crab cake we a crabtastic experience and our entrees were tasty too. We never felt hurried or rushed but everything was perfectly timed and our server was great. And my father got a candle in his key lime pie, what a lovely night out!
Another great meal at Catch 35! The Chilean Sea Bass is outstanding! Chris was a top notch server. His recommendations were spot on. Chopped Kale salad was a delight. Can’t wait to go back!
Great service and good food equals a very positive experience. I will definitely be coming back again.
The server was exceptional.
My husband and I come to Chicago a few times a year to enjoy theater and the Art Institute. Catch 35 staff took care to serve us mindful of time for us to attend an event prior to the performance at the Goodman near by. The food was excellent. Ambiance and presentation were both impressive. We enjoyed the live music. We will plan on a return visit.
Very good choice of fresh fish with various creative sauces and sides. Prize fix menu offers tastes of 3 courses at a reasonable price. Very friendly and attentive wait staff, good knowledge of menu items. Very enjoyable pre theatre dinner.
First time to this restaurant. We will come again. The food was excellent, offering great sea food for me as well as good alternatives for my wife who isn't a sea food fan. The service was excellent. The waiter was very helpful and attentive.
We've dined here before the theater in the past. The fish and chips preparation was inferior to the past-not traditional batter preparation. The fries were soggy. No one asked how we liked our dinner.
We'll not return for pre theater in the future.
We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner at Crack 35. I had the mixed grill with lobster, shrimp and salmon and my husband had the fresh salmon. Both were delicious. For dessert my husband raved about his deep dish pecan pie, and I enjoyed the blood orange sorbet. They also had a jazz combo playing in the bar which added a nice touch.
Lovely meal and great value kids choices. All food was exceptionally well presented and delicious.. service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
We had reservations but still had to wait - finally seated and still had to wait; 40 minutes after our reservation we still only had water and bread - the valet parked very far away so the wait was pretty long to get the car back. I will not be back
Catch 35 was a decent experience. The food was quite good. My wife had a delicious haddock and I had a tuna poke. The coconut shrimp to start was delicious as well.
The service was uneven. From the person bringing the bread who knocked over an empty wine glass to our server who was unwilling to make a recommendation when presented with my two choices, I was a bit disappointed. However, we were not ignored. They were aware of the start of the show we were going to, and made sure we were out on time. That was helpful.
I was glad that the noise level was what it was; I like to be able to hold a conversation without yelling!
Perfect spot for entertaining out of town guests. Great food and ambiance.
Our server was Great! Love the Chilean seabass, Reisling was delish.
Enjoyed dinner after the theater. Professional and congenial service. Accepted dietary restrictions. Nice wine list. Convenient location. We will definitely return.
We had the Yellowfin Tuna Sashimi as an appetizer then the Chilean Sea Bass and the Lobster Tail & Filet Mignon for dinner. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Save room for the Sticky Toffee Cake for dessert. The cake was served warm. All were delicious.
Five of us 60+ year olds traveled to Chicago from all over to celebrate the upcoming marriage of one of us. We dined at Catch 35 and had a wonderful meal. The specialty cocktails were lucious (try the grapefruit mojito) and the fish and beef and Asian flare options were intriguing and perfectly prepared. The Caesar salad and the beet salad were delicious. The desserts were large enough for very satisfying sharing. Catch 35 offers a prix fixe option as well. The contemporary decor was also warm and inviting. We highly recommend.
Very good food and great service. Menu had a great variety also. Went with a group of friends before theater and it was a perfect spot to go. Very near theaters.
Solid choice. All wild caught seafood. Super options and nice presentation. Bar area noisy so ask to be seated back unless it’s what you like.
Great food and service. Waiter was very helpful and his recommendations were right on .
Catch is a Chicago lunch staple. You really can't go wrong. That being said, it's not a great value. Unless you're a very light eater, be prepared to spend $30+ for lunch.
We were celebrating a birthday, and going to the theater after dinner. They were able to feed us a wonderful dinner and cocktails within our 1-hour time limit. The halibut was quit tasty, and the sweet pea risotto was a great accent to the meal. The salmon was delicious, and the portion size was perfect.
Attentive, knowledgeable staff. The seafood was remarkably fresh and the Powder Point oysters were superb. I also enjoyed the Parmesan truffle fries.
Haven't been here in years. Food was very mediocre. Service was the same.
Always great food, in an architecturally beautiful building. The service was warm and friendly and the music superb!
I recently hosted a business lunch. The seafood cobb salad was really tasty! Easy to have an intimate business conversation.
The food was incredible. We would definitely visit this restaurant again when we're back in Chicago.
We were there for the Goodman and normally eat after the show (it is considered rude to sleep during the performance). However, with friends joining us and their need to leave right after the play, we remembered dining with you several years ago (and the food choices allowing for lighter meals) with pleasure.
You met our expectations. Thank you.
They were very courteous and print special menu for our anniversary. The food was good. I would recommend blackened mahi mahi.
I came to Chicago t see a broadway show with my nieces . I looked up on line what was in the Theatre district .
Catch 35 had an extroadinary review. Piano player and singer makes the atmosphere ambient .
Great service, wonderful food, love,y atmosphere.
Great service and great yummy food, we will be back soon. Fish so good I am still happy. We ate oysters, tuna, and bass all excellent in preparation and flavor !
Food was exceptional tonight - better than usual. We were all pleased with our fish dishes. It's a great location for pre-theatre and if you drive, the valet reimbursement is a great deal.
