At Castagna Restaurant we offer two options: a Chef's Tasting Menu and a 6-course Dinner Menu. This is not to be confused with Café Castagna located next door which features an a la carte bistro menu

Castagna serves as a clean, calm, modern canvas on which to showcase an artful presentation of food; a series of tastes that elevate the senses and reinterpret local cuisine. Executive Chef Justin Woodward imagines an edible landscape where diners become part of a cycle of abundance: not only tasting, but feeling, smelling, hearing, seeing, and, ultimately, understanding the food. Come enjoy this James Beard Finalist Chef and his team while they take you on an amazing journey.

Upon request, we offer vegetarian versions of either of the menus.

The best restaurant I've been to in Portland! It is on the expensive side, but worth it for a special occasion.

A spendy set menu for our Valentine’s Day dinner ($200/person and an additional $85 for wine pairing) but the food, wine and service combination delivered the best dining experience we’ve had since The French Laundry.

We enjoyed he staff and the wine pairing was great. The food wasn’t the best. For this price point, I would expect a little better prepared dishes. We probably won’t be back with the other choices in the area.

Our dinner was wonderful and the service top notch. This was the most money I have ever spent on a meal but it was also hands down the best meal I have ever eaten in my life. Come here for the most special of occassions, you will not be disappointed, nothing in Portland comes close, but diners looking for a “cheap” meal will be disappointed.

My 3-star rating scope is within the tasting menu fine dining section.

This would be 5 stars compared to say.......Le Diplomate in DC.

I've only been to handful of Chefs Tasting Menu restaurants and all of them are located in the DC area; this was my first in PDX. Take this review with a grain of salt..im still a newbie.

Castagna comes in last on my short list in this space. 1) Pineapple & Pearls, 2) Restaurant Eve, 3) Komi, 4) Castagna

Servers were fantastic and the decor was simplistic as it should be for this type of dining because the focus is the food.

The time between dishes was too long, imo. I cant remember how many dishes there were for the chefs course (13? The snack course was 3 separate small bite dishes), and the entire journey took 3 hours and 11 minutes.

I'd rate higher if this place offered a non-alcoholic beverage pairing. I believe that's a greater challenge than just serving alcohol. Think of the hundreds of ingredients out there that can be properly matched up in liquid form for each dish. That's why P&P is my #1.

The food overall was delicious, but when you compare it to other like-caliber establishments, it's average. There was something about the duck course that threw me off. The outside was cooked perfectly, but once I really got into it, it was very chewy... My mom spit her out.


This is still a great place for a special occasion for first-timers, but I don't see myself going back.


Oh yeah, their Old Fashioned was on point!

My husband and I came to this restaurant because it was highly recommended by both friends and reviews on the internet but we were very disappointed by the experience. My husband and I have been to some of the most reknowned michelin star rated restaurants and are very familiar to this style of dining but found ourselves trapped on a 3+ hour ride we couldn’t get off off. To be honest it was devistating because it was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for my husband. To be fair, the wine selection was phenomenal and their froie gras was very good but everything else fell flat and was not fresh. They had a variety of raw fish supposedly flown in from a fish market that they served with no sauce or spice what so ever that was obviously days old (tough and fishy). It literally made us gag. Multiple plates they sent out were like this and so bad we couldn’t take more than one taste. Everything they served was a strange animal part (which is fine if it tastes amazing because I can get over the mental hurtle) but it was ALL gamey or off. By the time we got to dessert my stomach was turning and the baby eclair with matcha that tasted like fish was the last straw so we politely asked for our bill before the rest of the courses arrived. The kicker was having to try and sign our bill of $500 with a pen that kept falling apart that was an advertisement for a birthday performer “Shecky The Clown”. Not to mention the tiny bathroom looked like something you’d see in a dive bar on the coast. So yeah, it was bad. We were supposed to go out for a while longer after dinner but were so torqued we just went home to try and sleep it all off. We just don’t get it.... maybe we hit an off night there or something but it’s really too bad. I know we won’t be back.
