This is a foodie's delight. Absolutely creative dishes and amazing presentation. My only minor gripe is the restaurant decor, a kind of minimalistic 70's barren landscape - but, again, the reason you are here is for a food adventure.
This is hands down the best fine dining Portland has to offer. Get the chef tasting menu, it’s incredible.
We ate at Castanga a few years ago and we were blown away by how delicious and inventive the food was. This time however, the food was good, but not worth the price you pay. The gratuity is included, but it is on top of the price of the meal. Most of the time when we have dined at restaurants where the gratuity in included (Or where it is stated the staff is paid a living wage), it’s already included in the price. This is what Castanga needs to do. I would not recommend them now.
The wine pairings were absolutely incredible, partially due to the exceptional description and story of each provided by the sommelier.
Every dish wash creative and delicious.
Excellent in every way, we had the tasting menu. Outstanding tastes every course was a delightful surprise. Would definitely come back on another occasion.
Medicore food at delicious (for them) prices. Save time and eat your burnt money instead.
I told the server that the experience was about art, not just the food. I was referring to the presentation of each course and the design of the space, as well as to the flavor and texture of each course. The flavor and texture of the rock fish were especially wonderful and it arrived much hotter than is usual with restaurant food, which made it all the more delectable.
Should be a Michelin starred restaurant. Worthy chef.
Nice place food great would recommend for anyone
The wine pairing was especially azaming!
Everything was great- but the wine stood proudest with some rare pours!
I was looking for a small and quite location for dinner and had heard of Castagna's through the internet. We were able to have a wonderful dinner with great wine paring, the location is easy to access, the atmosphere was perfect for a quite dinner for 2. We did not feel rushed or hurried as we enjoyed our meal.
We went to Castagna to celebrate our anniversary. It was delicious, but we really enjoyed the interesting wine pairings. The sommelier knows his wines and had some really inventive, unexpected wines for us to try. Loved it!
Did the weekend chef's tasting menu with my wife for our anniversary. Food was exceptional. Finest dining experience I can recall. It was also the most expensive. By far. Worth it for a special occasion.
Absolutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant was so welcoming. Food and staff were superb, highly recommend this gem
Maybe the finest dining in Portland—both creative and elegant. Excellent service. Certainly should rate at least one Michelin star, if Michelin ever comes to Portland.
Nothing great. Surprised they have s Star. We’ve been to many Michelin Star restaurants. This did not meet expectations.
I loved it! Great food, great service and it made my boyfriend and I feel very fancy
We had dinner here many times in the past. I found the price increased too much. I really don’t like they directly charge tip of 20% of the dinner! They should let customers decide! I no longer recommend this restaurant to my friends.
We enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu and each course was as beautiful as it was delicious. A great variety of seafood, meats, and vegetable dishes. The wine pairing was exceptional with some funky wines we’d never heard of that paired amazingly well with the food! Definitely going back!
Superb and innovative tasting menu. Highly recommend!
Possibly one of the best dinners I have experienced.
MICHELIN WORTHY....Wow, wow, wow !!!! This place is serious. My husband and I recently had the 7 course-tasting menu and wine pairing at Castagna and I am speechless. We have been to several 1 star and many 3 star Michelin restaurants around the world, and Castagna is in the game. The dishes are beautiful to look at, thoughtful in their ingredients and brought many, many eye-closing moments. We upgraded and added in 1 Wagyu Beef and OMG…the best bite of meat EVER !!! Service impeccable, and just a fantastic experience…well worth the money. Michelin…if you are reading this…time to put Portland on your map and reward Castagna with 1 star…or maybe 2.
So far the best restaurant both for food and service in Portland. It unfortunately came with the largest bill but I still recommend this as a must have experience.
Incredible. From service to food. To presentation. Everything was impeccable. Would return in a heart beat. But we live in Oklahoma. We only came for our honeymoon. Thank you Castagna for the perfect night.
Went here for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. the service was incredible. The menu was creative and the food was delicious. We did the seven course tasting menu with wine pairing and it was well worth it! We would have done the chef's but Im rather petite and just can't eat that much. But the menu looked amazing! Would HIGHLY recommend
We thought each dish was very innovative and delicious. Wine pairings, however, we not particularly spot on. The Chardonnay and the Spanish red worked well, the sparkling wine and the rest were way too cider like or way too sweet for such a lovely dinner. Wish we had just ordered a good bottle of red wine.
Had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Castagna. Creative and delicious, the beautiful presentation of the food was memorable and the wine pairing was perfect.
Best restaurant in Portland by a mile
Dining out on our honeymoon, the food was truly incredible and the service was great. Would highly recommend for a special occasion!
Utterly outstanding. One of the best meals I've had in the country. Congrats to Justin and the entire team.
Excellent all around with creative and delicious alternate preparations for my mom with severe food allergies
The food was amazing. The oyster that they served (it was poached) was the smoothest, most amazing oyster I have had. The beef course that they served (which they graciously accommodated our dietary restriction when I forgot to mention that earlier), was incredibly flavorful. The chicken liver was just incredible. The whole meal was just amazing.
Amazing food. Great service. We did the larger chefs tasting menu which was inventive and perfectly executed. They had a new pork course - it was my favorite. I didn’t care for the potato ice cream but not s big deal
great food. by far beyond what you normally get in portland.
a laid back 2 1/2 hours of sequential small bite bliss
Excellent food and wine pairings!
Very wonderful evening- food prepared perfectly
This restaurant has spectacular food. We did the 7 course tasting menu and everything was incredible, right down to the "potato skin" desert. We spent some of dinner speculating on that one (unsuccessfully) and it didn't disappoint. If you want a memorable, super high quality, special dinner where every course is unique and surprising, then this is a great choice.
Loved it! Will definitely go back!
