Service was wonderful and very informative. Clearly a unique dining experience in Portland. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, creative and high quality. We will continue to support this restaurant as it is an important asset to the Portland restaurant culture.
Best tasting menu dinner we’ve had In Portland. Amazing experience
A wonderfully enjoyable evening. Quiet in-rushed excellent service some great wine recommendations and food that tasted as good as it looked.
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience. A culinary adventure from course to course. Incredibly well paced and balanced. The sections did not have one weak offering and each presentation easily stood on its own. Could not have been happier with the meal. Fantastic value for the Seven Course option.
Unique and outstanding offerings that were very varied in their tastes… This is definitely a very special occasion place, and one to savor❣️😋
Third visit didn’t disappoint. So many delicious and creative dishes, I especially loved the trout with leek and black vinaigrette and the satsuma desert. Service was very attentive, but not rushed. Thank you Castagna!
Great creative food, beautiful quiet room, fantastic wine service.
This is an exceptional place with sophisticated food and stylish environment. Molecular cuisine presentations was so fun to eat and delicious to savor. There was enough going on to keep lively conversation just around food and wine pairing. Hard to forget culinary experience and made our anniversary a day to remember.
Great as usual. The only unusual negative was a table of folks who probably thought they were in a bar and produced noise levels to go with that. They were so loud that we could hardly hear the conversation at our table with their table quite a distance away. Other than that food and service were great.
It's always a treat to visit. We look forward to our next visit.
Excellent! Have already recommended it to others.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent.
Excellent service, exceptional food! Better than I expected.
An amazing meal and the staff was super accommodating of my lactose and gluten intolerance. I would def recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic dinner.
Went here with my girlfriend for our 3 year anniversary. The meal took us 2 hours for the 7 course menu (a positive thing), the wait staff was attentive and friendly. As a young couple even the $100 price tag (without drinks) is fairly steep during any given month, but worth the overal experience.
The food is incredible and the service is exquisite. We try to get there every time we come to Portland.
Best restaurant in the Portland area. Michelin star quality and price.
Just awesome as usual! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our dinner.
We enjoyed the very elegant tasting menu. Each dish was like a beautifully wrapped present. The cocktails were delicious and even though we opted out of the wine pairings, the recommended wine was perfect. The shared service was seamless and all were well informed about every dish. Except for a noticeable lag between a few dishes, the experience was truly memorable.
A fantastic experience in every respect. The food is, in a sense, simple--most dishes have but three main components, so each component plays a vital role in the dish as a whole--yet conceptually sophisticated. A dish of beet with crispy chard, for example, first delights the front of the tongue with its sweetness and softness but then stimulates the back of the tongue with its bitterness and crispiness. The service is perfect--warm but not intrusive, relaxing but not relaxed. Dietary accommodations are handled with laudable deftness. At $100 for a seven-course experience of such pleasure, the meal is a remarkable value.
Wonderful restaurant for that special occasion. Will definitely be coming back!
Fabulous food, service and wine list. A fantastic dining experience. World class food in a casual setting. If you enjoy tasting menus this is your place!
The food and service were amazing. I just wish they acknowledged our anniversary which was noted in our reservation...
This is a foodie's delight. Absolutely creative dishes and amazing presentation. My only minor gripe is the restaurant decor, a kind of minimalistic 70's barren landscape - but, again, the reason you are here is for a food adventure.
This is hands down the best fine dining Portland has to offer. Get the chef tasting menu, it’s incredible.
We ate at Castanga a few years ago and we were blown away by how delicious and inventive the food was. This time however, the food was good, but not worth the price you pay. The gratuity is included, but it is on top of the price of the meal. Most of the time when we have dined at restaurants where the gratuity in included (Or where it is stated the staff is paid a living wage), it’s already included in the price. This is what Castanga needs to do. I would not recommend them now.
The wine pairings were absolutely incredible, partially due to the exceptional description and story of each provided by the sommelier.
Every dish wash creative and delicious.
Excellent in every way, we had the tasting menu. Outstanding tastes every course was a delightful surprise. Would definitely come back on another occasion.
Medicore food at delicious (for them) prices. Save time and eat your burnt money instead.
I told the server that the experience was about art, not just the food. I was referring to the presentation of each course and the design of the space, as well as to the flavor and texture of each course. The flavor and texture of the rock fish were especially wonderful and it arrived much hotter than is usual with restaurant food, which made it all the more delectable.
Should be a Michelin starred restaurant. Worthy chef.
Nice place food great would recommend for anyone
The wine pairing was especially azaming!
Everything was great- but the wine stood proudest with some rare pours!
I was looking for a small and quite location for dinner and had heard of Castagna's through the internet. We were able to have a wonderful dinner with great wine paring, the location is easy to access, the atmosphere was perfect for a quite dinner for 2. We did not feel rushed or hurried as we enjoyed our meal.
We went to Castagna to celebrate our anniversary. It was delicious, but we really enjoyed the interesting wine pairings. The sommelier knows his wines and had some really inventive, unexpected wines for us to try. Loved it!
Did the weekend chef's tasting menu with my wife for our anniversary. Food was exceptional. Finest dining experience I can recall. It was also the most expensive. By far. Worth it for a special occasion.
Absolutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant was so welcoming. Food and staff were superb, highly recommend this gem
Maybe the finest dining in Portland—both creative and elegant. Excellent service. Certainly should rate at least one Michelin star, if Michelin ever comes to Portland.
Nothing great. Surprised they have s Star. We’ve been to many Michelin Star restaurants. This did not meet expectations.
