Lots of food. Lots of leftovers. We took our leftovers and passed along to some needy folks on our walk back to our hotel.
Outstanding experience for a group of business leaders from Canada
Good food but if your looking for DC authenticity go somewhere else. Menu is pretty standard for all Carmine restaurants. Great atmosphere for families with kids.
Always an excellent choice for Italian food. Portions are very large and beg for a group of 4-6 or more, otherwise pretty expensive and not a bargain. Would choose another restaurant for just two people.
My wife and I were surprised first by the prices and then the waiter’s explanation that the serving sizes were huge. That forced us to order and share a single salad and a single entree. Instead of enjoying variety, we had to agree on the same dinner. An compromise to say the least, and very disturbing to see the massive and wasteful leftovers that are likely scrapped by the staff.
Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very good and the portions are large. Be prepared to take some home!
We had a great meal at Carmine’s! One of favorite places. Don’t forget to order the Titanic!
I read a review that Carmine’s was a place to eat when visiting DC. It did not disappoint. Excellent service and spectacular food. Everything is served family style and you will not leave hungry.
This was a good dining experience, The server could use some more training. Food was excellent as usual.
Wonderful food!! Lots of leftovers to enjoy! Service was excellent and she was well knowledged on the menu items. Great date night spot.
All food is family style which is difficult with 4 people who have different tastes. Deeply sad dessert is also only offered as family style. The sangria was wonderful. The pesto gnocchi was delightful. The bow tie bolognese was the best. The HUGE meatballs will not disappoint.
The food was delicious, but our waitress was very rude & unfriendly, which ruined our 9 yr old daughter’s birthday dinner. We were in town from WI & she wanted spaghetti & meatballs so we choose this restaurant & made a reservation prior to leaving for our trip. Very disappointed for the price of the meal & the type of service we received. Would not recommend.
I have been to this location twice and my experience was the same - dismal. The hostesses who work behind the counter are rude and dismissive. I arrived 45 minutes early and asked to be seated early. I understood why this might not be possible but since the last time I was 10 minutes late and they gave my table away, I erred on the side of caution. An empty 4 top table, which I requested and reserved, sat empty for 30 minutes before the dismissive hostesses deigned to seat us. The food was pedestrian . However, it was cold and it took almost an hour after our order was placed to receive it. The kids ordered pasta with butter. However, there was no butter on the pasta. I asked for butter but we waited and waited. The kids were famished and ate it plain. I wanted to order dessert but didn’t feel like waiting another hour. Just a miserable experience.
The manager and staff were incredibly accommodating of food allergies. The staff was kind and made the dinner feel like a first class experience. The food was incredible and the atmosphere/music transported you to a different time.
Food was very good, just busy and hard to get some refills. Would like to return while in DC.

Wonderful. All of it. Service and Food and love the happy hour drinks.
This is a family style dining experience. My husband and I went for a date night and we had to decide what to share since each entree serves 2-4 people. We decided on chicken Parmesan and we added a bed of spaghetti for an extra charge. We had enough food left over for 2 lunches the next day. We also got a 1/2 order of cannoli (3 instead of 6) and they were very good. Overall a nice restaurant with good food. I would recommend it better for a group or large family versus for a date night.
Service was not real good. 6 people and 2 didn’t get their food when others did. We had to finally ask for theirs
Work anniversary. Was lovely.
Great service and great food as always. We go to this restaurant every year that we visit Washington. I've been to Carmines every year for 5 years. Thanks
Mya was WONDERFUL!! Very Attentive, Professional, & Geniune :) Highly Recommend Carmine's for any Occasion!!
The Washington D.C. location does not live up to the NYC location in any way. The food of course is great but at the D.C. location the service we received wasn’t the best and the hostess was the rudest I have ever encountered at any restaurant. The restaurant had multiple open tables, was close to closing and we were placed at a isolated table in the center of the restaurant right where everyone was walking by. We were uncomfortable at this table so we had asked to move and the hostess refused. We had to argue for her to move us and when she did she moved (the two of us) to a 8 person table in a separate crammed room full of people that was so loud we couldn’t even hear each other talk. Through all of this the hostess gave us disrespectful facial expressions, gestures and sass. I would not recommend this location to anyone, the food was good and we anticipated it being more expensive, but what we didn’t anticipate was the lack of respect and discomfort for customers that seems to be the norm at this location.
Great gluten-free options that tasted great! Will definitely return.
This is our second time there in a couple of years and we enjoyed it greatly as we did before. The food portions are out of this world and we enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner
Our waiter was the best- young, energetic, great conversationist and fun overall. He knew how to strike the right balance between checking on us and leaving us alone. Amazing experience.
Our experience at Carmine’s was exceptional. Great food. Great service. Portions are large because it’s family style so it’s great for families and leftovers!
The server wasn’t very good. But everything else was
Great spot for a business lunch. The family style portions are good to share. There's something nice about serving food to make a business meeting comfortable.
As advertised great meal, server went above and beyond
Group of 14, most from out of town. ordered three salads, four different entrees. Every dish was excellent. The service was outstanding. Everyone was extremely pleased.
our first time at carmines and did not disappoint . we did not realize that food is served family style but were told by our waiter. a family of four could have easily shared the caesar salad and chicken parmesan with pasta which were delicious. excellent wait staff, juan.
Had dinner here with my wife before going to a concert and loved it. Be prepared for family style ordering.
First time at Carmine's and decided to dine here prior to an Elton John concert. When it says "family style", they aren't messing around! It was just two of us, and we took home enough for at least two more dinners - don't be afraid of the prices because you get your money's worth! We went simple with the Spaghetti and some garlic bread. The spaghetti was cooked to perfection (al dente) and the homemade sauce was delicious! The garlic bread, though usually just an item to eat and not think much of, was absolutely delicious, with it being perfectly toasted and some very good seasonings on it. The meal was fantastic and we had no complaints! Looking forward to taking the kids next time!
Absolutely awful. Tasted like Ragu from a jar over mooshy pasta. My friends dish was over seasoned with literally a half an inch of standing melted butter at bottom. Do not recommend.
Good pasta; huge, family-style portions. Carmine's is a great, lively restaurant and good value for the price
Also really liked the titanic, one of their desserts that they offer as half size
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Malcolm, was excellent and our service was very good. We ordered the right amount of food for our group of six. Everything we ordered was delicious. All 6 of us would highly recommend this restaurant for a group.
Looking for a nice Italian restaurant that had outstanding food..... we found it!!
Very long wait after meal delivered before waiter even looked at us, so we could order dessert. Both of us had upset stomachs after dinner, suspected the over oily pasta.
