Carmine's - Washington DC
Carmine’s is a family style, value-driven restaurant concept with locations in NYC, NJ, Nassau Bahamas, and Washington DC. Restaurateur Artie Cutler created Carmine’s with one goal in mind: to open a restaurant that would serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast, featuring extra large portions of home-style antipasto, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on extra large platters designed for sharing. Carmine’s is the perfect place to casually enjoy friends and family over great food and wine, with excellent service, the way it used to be at grandma’s house.
Very attentive and nice staff, family style meals that were fantastic! Definitely worth every single penny! Will be going back in the future!
Very good!!! No complaints! I would highly recommend Carmine’s!!
I cannot say enough about our experience at Carmine’s, it was just excellent. The food was delicious and our waiter, Rob, was knowledgeable and gave us the perfect suggestions. He was so much fun to work with. I would go back and ask for him just for the entertainment! I will most definitely return
Amazing food! Great time had by the entire family!
Wow!! Great meal! Great service! Huge family style portions....go there hungry for sure—it’s delicious
Trip with daughter. Early dinner son I wait, got seated at the window and waiter was very attentive. Food came in quick and a lot of it. Enough for a party of 6 so we had plenty of leftover. Keep in mind it’s family style which I didn’t know when I booked the reservation. All in it was worth it.
There were 3 in my party and the food portions were a little too large, would have liked to have an opportunity to purchase a la carte. Drinks were delicious!
We love Carmine’s and eat there every time we visit DC!
Our server was very interested in flirting with my cousin but not taking orders.
Always a pleasure.
We went to Carmine’s to celebrate my daughter’s birthday with my large family. The waitress facing the food was delicious the ambience was perfect. Thank you so much
Wonderful food, drink and Service ! Our server Rob was the best!
Our server Andrew was on point! Good experience. Looking forward to the next time
Great family dinner!
not as tasty as new york ! salad
okay. chix contansiba was
good and pasta was okay
Delicious food with an electric energy throughout the restaurant.
Our concern is that all the menu items, with the exception of just a couple starters per our waiter, were for 4 plus people. We were a party of only 2 so the left overs were huge. Additionally, our waiter was very inattentive. Disappointing
Fantastic!!! chris was our waiter and honestly deserves everything and more. 12/10 recommend
We celebrated my sons birthday with several of his friends that have never been before and it and it was a huge hit. Everything we had was delicious and we had to be rolled out. The waiter was excellent and very attentive. Great overall experience.
We ordered an appetizer - fried calamari - and were unpleasantly surprised at the sheer size of it - it could have been an appetizer for 8 people. Combine that fact with the saltiness of it and we could t order an entree. Hated that everything is huge and expensive- made for sharing. Didn’t want what my wife wanted for dinner so it doesn’t make sense for us. Never going back.
My wife, son, and I had dinner at Carmine's prior to a concert at Capital One Arena. We've been to other family style Italian places in the past, so we knew what to expect, but this was our first trip to Carmine's.
Drink menu and pricing was good. My wife and I each had a glass of wine. We started with the garlic bread, which my son loved. I thought it was slightly overcooked...a little crunchy in parts, but overall a good started. For entree we had Lemon Chicken, with a side of escarole. The chicken was excellent; very tender and flavorful. Escarole could have used a little more seasoning, but overall it was a good side dish. We finished with the chocolate torta, which was amazing. My son and I both have a sweet tooth, and we could have split this massive dessert, but we exercised restraint.
Overall, this was a good experience, and we definitely plan to be back.
Always a great place for groups andxwe had 14 yesterday for delicious food and drinks....highly recommend!
The lady and I enjoyed ourselves quite well.
The food at Carmine's is absolutely delicious! I've never had anything there that wasn't loved by everyone. This time we had: cheesy garlic bread, caesar salad, chicken parmigiana, veal piccata and carbonera - all of which was fabulous!! And, because that wasn't enough we finished our meal with their huge deluxe dessert, which was incredible. It's a lot of fun and would be a great place to have a family gathering. We had 10 folks and couldn't finish what we'd ordered.
Fabulous dinner for 5 newcomers to Carmine's. We tried to be moderate in our orders, but ended up with more food than 5 of us could eat. No room for dessert for sure! Thanks for a great evening and fabulous food!!!
Wonderful place for our business group to have a meal.
Good portions, great value, really enjoyed the atmosphere.
Food was delicious accented with great service. I would have liked our waitperson to have warned us about the platter sizes. Stressing something like “3 entries will generally feed 9 people” or “1 appetizer will be good for 4 people.” We has a nice time in this dimly lit restaurant.
It was my birthday and happens to be one of our favorite places. This visit was a disappointment. Our food was cold. We had to ask for bread. Our marinara sauce that we were charged extra for never was served so we ate plain pasta which was cold for $35. Service was not great. Not the usual Carmine's experience.
Went out for dinner with a group of 8 friends in total. The service was good but the time it took for items we ordered from the bar was inexcusable- it probably took about 20 mins to get a few drinks and even longer for the rest.
Overall, the waiter was attentive and kept coming back to apologize for the wait. The food was good but a little on the garlic side. We finished with the Titanic dessert which was the best way to end the meal ON A HIGH NOTE!
It was just meh
great! we enjoued our time there, service was good.
Food is always good and environment is always fun. We had a great dinner and a good time.
Outstanding service and awesome food. They could have charged twice as much as the portions for our entree could have feed 6 people. Will definitely eat here again in the future.
We were there for lunch, and we were in a hurry to get in and out within 45 minutes. Our server was amazing, very attentive but not overbearing. He accommodated all of our little requests and made us real comfortable. The food was as expected- huge portions and just wonderful in taste! The ambiance was nostalgic and very cozy
This was our first time eating at a Carmine's. We weren't really greeted but were helped with our seat promptly once we asked. Very lively, family-stlye restaurant. Liked the layout and the atmosphere. Thought the price was decent for most dishes considering the family- style serving sizes. Even though we expected to wait since it was a Friday, the wait still seemed a bit excessive (30 min or so) as we only ordered a main course, appetizer and kids dish. Food (which included meat) finally came and was barely warm , we asked if they could heat up some more. 15 minutes later our server brought the food back but it wasn't any hotter than the first time. We also ordered from the kids menu which we didn't get till our dish was returned the second time. Our server did a good job though, pleasant and helpful but we were just so disappointed by everything else.
We LOVED it at Carmine's. We had a table of 10 and it couldn't have been a better place for a crazy, family get together - fun, energy filled, zestful, delicious and welcoming. We thought the shared plates were huge and enough to feed an army. The Chicken Romano was one of the best things we had ever eaten and cannot wait to return on our next family "reunion" in DC. Every table nearby looked to be having just as much fun as the next - the happiness quotient was contagious. TY, TY, TY for a terrific night!
Great tasting food with massive portions. Service was very good and the ambience really highlights what I imagine are family style Italian dinners.
Server kept challenging nearly every simple request (e.g., could we please have menus rather than relying on the menu on the wall; could we please have fresh plates for our main dish after the salad course). Rather than accommodating our requests, the server lectured us on his assertion that these things aren’t usually done in a Southern Italian themed family-style restaurant.
When the main dish was served, it was cold. When we asked that it be taken back to be heated up, the server felt the dish as if he had to confirm our claim for himself. When the main dish was brought back, it was warmer, but still fairly tepid. At that point we just accepted it rather than delay things any longer.
A comment about the general format — while past experience with the food has been positive, I really don’t like the fact that individual portions are not available at dinner (they are at lunch, however). As a frequent solo diner, this keeps Carmine’s off my list unless I can find 1 or more dining partners, in which case we would all have to agree on the same meal. This seems absolutely silly. I have no problem with “family style” options being offered. However, why signal so directly that solo diners are unwelcome at dinner time? I guess we just don’t generate enough revenue per table for them to bother with.
Darryl was excellent we had a blast
