Great place to take a group for a reliably good and reasonably priced meal!
Excellent food, friendly service, great wine and amazing prices! I love this place and will keep coming back!
Group of 14, where told check could be split in 4 before ordering then when it became time to pay we where told no split checks, which wasnt an issue just poor communication, also food was ok feel as if more quantity of food takes away from focusing on quality
Good food and service. The noise level could be better if parties were placed in separate areas than tables of 2 and 4. We would go again because food and wine were reasonably priced and very good. John
Great food and atmosphere. Service was excellent. Reservation through Open Table the way to go.
Our server was very new and the service was very slow. We didn’t realize the entrees were family style and would have ordered differently had we known.,
Delicious food. Order less than you think, portions are SO big! Enjoy the leftovers too!
The food and service was very good and the portions are enough for four. This was our first time there and will definitely have to make it back.
Great for a friends and family get together.
The service is fast, friendly and efficient.
We had 7 in our group inclusive of a 10, 8 and 7 year old, two grumpy old seniors and daughter and son-in-law and we all left full and happy!
The food and the service was excellent. We went to Carmine’s right before a Caps game and couldn’t have been more pleased with our overall experience.
Good as always: food, service, everything! Would recommend
The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed all aspects of the dining experience. Next time we are in DC we will visit again Excellent food!
Good food but very slow service. Our server was very nice but overworked. Other servers seemed not as busy so why couldn’t they help our server? Seems like a coordination issue.
I’ve been to Carmine’s numerous times, never disappoints.
Family dinner. Perfect place for it
The food and service were good once we sat down at our second table. But we were originally sat at a nice table for two people and as soon as we were settled a hostess somewhat rudely told us we needed to move to another table right now, making it clear she was not asking. She then moved the two of us to a huge booth meant for six people. Even our waiter was confused, asking if we had other people joining. I got up to go to the bathroom five minutes later and another couple was in our previous seats. Was a weird experience that we didn’t really appreciate.
Was very excited to visit this restaurant after many great experiences in NY. We left disappointed. We ordered the penne with vodka sauce. The sauce was runny and had small pieces of chicken in it even though we ordered it with no meat. The waitress apologized over and over and said the manager would be over. The manager never came but removed this item from our bill. Overall not the experience I was used to in NYC.
Birthday party - food amazing but service poor
It took an hour and a half to get Shrimp Marinara over pasta. The manager was brought over and simply stated that they were busy and couldn’t help it. Disappointing that they didn’t try to do anything to make up for the long experience.
Fault was in town visiting. Reservation was for 530 dinner was not served till after 9.
It was our first time eating at Carmine’s in DC. We frequent the NYC locations often and felt quite at home. Our kids attend AU, so we will be seeing you soon!
Waiter was rude and not interested. We had a table for 8. He didn't have suggestions, seemed annoyed to have to work. He forgot to put in one of the entrees so we got it 20 minutes after everything else, even with that he didn't have an apology. Another waiter finally came over and asked what was wrong and put in the order did apologize. At dessert we ordered 7 cups of coffee and he bought one little container of milk... when we asked for more he responded "I'll see what I can do and walked away, coffee was cold by the time he came back with a container half filled. Unfortunate, but won't be coming back or recommending this location.
Wonderful. Not as good as the one in nyc but still great. Awesome frozen drink and pasta!
Great for group lunch. Mixed salad was the biggest hit--it's that good. Fried calamari was a close second. Chicken scallopini was made better by the generous bed of sauteed spinach it sat on. Penne with sausage was a challenge to serve because the sausages were left whole. Had leftovers at just $25 pp, tip and tax included. Service was attentive, quick , helpful and friendly--couldn't ask for better.
We have been fans of the original Carmine's in NYC for many years and are always exciting to find one in a city we are visiting. We have been to this location twice now & have not been disappointed either time. It is similar to the original in every way - décor, food, service - and we feel right at home.
Special shout out this trip to our server Courtney who was professional yet warm and welcoming and worked to our pace. She gave us precisely the right amount of attention for the kind of evening we were looking for, giving us time to linger over our meal & visit with our guest. Thank you Courtney!
We recommend Carmine's (any location) regularly and have taken guests to many of their locations.
The server was just okay. It was a large party so perhaps too much for him.
I will come back but will certainly call management before I visit. The food is always good.
I haven’t been to this restaurant in years. I decided to make this my girl night out restaurant. Everything was good until my waiter came to the table bad service. He wasn’t the one bringing the food . He never came to the table to check on us he made sure he check the other two table often when he did come to check. We had to stop him for him to come our table. I spend $65 was going to order something else but i just wanted the bill. I had to ask for bread. When get the water those come out together. It was so bad another waiter came to our table a d ask do you need anything a d yes we needed plates and straws. He miss out on a good TIP the restaurant we went to got that TIP.
We had the meatballs which were significantly smaller than in the past. Why the change?
The food is excellent, but some can be a bit pricey. Pasta should be offered with certain dishes, which it is not. Service is very good. The place can tend to be noisy, depending on where you sit.
Friendly staff, nice location, good food, massive portions (family style). A very good value especially for a group of 4+. Spaghetti vongole and classic lasagna were wonderful.
Great for a large group.
The hostesses were unfriendly and the service was not good. Food was alright. Not as good as the Carmine’s in Manhattan.
Very noisy and HUGE portions!! You must share! But delicious!! Just like being in a big, noisy, chaotic Italian family’s home for dinner. Loved it!!
Food quality was very good, the portions were huge! Definite recommend! Forgetaboutit
This was my first visit to Carmine’s and may be my last. The food was over and overpriced, even by DC standards. Several of us in our group ordered hoagies only to find out they did not have the bread AFTER we placed our orders. We stuck with our original orders and adjusted with fork and knife. While they were busy, they were not busy enough to justify an hour wait time just to place our orders. A first impression is a lasting one.
Great authentic Italian food that you would have at your Grandma's house!!!
The portions are huge so order accordingly... GREAT FOR LARGE GROUPS AND SHARING!!
some of the best Italian we ever had and huge proportions of everything well worth it
I LOVE Carmine's with a capital L. It is not for the faint of heart. The family-style service and family-style presentation of the meals can be intimidating if you don't know what to expect. Once you're seated, look around at what's on the other tables before you order. Whatever you choose, you're getting a lot of it. This is the perfect place for groups and friends and double-dates. Don't go here if you're looking for a quiet, intimate candlelight supper with your lover. Go here if you want to eat really good Italian food and are hungry. You won't be disappointed. They might have to wheel you out on a hand truck afterward but you won't be disappointed.
Great food- service lacked a whole lot
