Carmelina's North End Ratings and Reviews
The food and atmosphere were spectacular! The Ahi tuna was the best I've ever had with a combination you'd never think of. Next we had the short ribs which were absolutely delicious my mouth exploded with all the flavor not to mention the risotto- just amazing. I could go on for an hour so I will just say this restaurant is worth the drive and I will be going back for sure! Thank you Carmelina's for the best meal I've had out in a long time!
Absolutely get reservations. It's a small place so they book up quickly. Food outstanding. Service was very good but a bit stretched thin so a couple of things were missed (offered cracked pepper but never brought it, etc). Very minor complaints. Highly recommend.
My Wife had lamb lollipops and they were great I had Pollo Cardinale and was only fair to poor, the maitre d was awesome, moved us to another table when friends showed up. Not so much the waitresses, never checked on our food, never were around for a drink order or water refill. Not friendly poor service.
What a meal! Carmelina's was probably one of the best Italian dining experiences we've had in a LONG time - thanks to the delicious food, great wine and attentive staff. The manager also deserves a huge round of applause, because if it weren't for him - we would have missed our dinner reservation completely!
The menu is awesome. We ordered the meatballs, salad and several pasta dishes. The two most notable dishes: The 4 Mushroom Rigatoni and the Sunday Macaroni. Both were to die for. We also loved that the restaurant was kid-friendly. Our 5 year old and 15 month-old had a wonderful time as well.
Due to such tight quarters - they do not offer high chairs – so bring a booster. Oh… and don’t bother fighting your way through traffic to find street parking. Instead, do yourself a favor and park at the Parcel 7 Garage, located at 136 Blackstone Street. You’ll save yourself a lot of time and energy… Trust us. Carmelina’s will validate your parking ticket for you!
Run – don’t walk to this neighborhood gem. You will not be disappointed!
Food above par, but we were rushed through our meal by our server, had to ask a different fellow for our bottle of wine which we had requested to be served with our main course (and wasn't), and we were handed our bill without being asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. We had a nice table by the window, but the space was cramped.
Carmelina's was a good choice for North End. Very cozy but comfortable, must have reservation. Food was excellent, our server Anthony was great, good recommendations, overall good food, service was great, good choices of food for all food lovers, meat and seafood both cooked properly and very fresh. Definitely a must go to while in North End. We will be back next time around.
Lovely evening...great food and wonderfully personal service. Our server was friendly and attentive, despite the crowd. The venue is small so not many tables.
The food was outstanding and the friendly, personal service we received was much appreciated. We will be back.
We were seated promptly with a great table by the open window which was perfect. From there it went downhill. We ordered a bottle of wine, but no one ever stopped by to refill our glasses. Likewise, we had to ask for re-fills for our children's drinks. They gave us bread, but no olive oil (again, we had to ask for it - it was delivered with a bit of attitude). We used our utensils for the appetizers, but they did not bring us new ones, so after waiting once they delivered our food we finally went to a vacant table and took those. The food was mediocre, definitely not worth the price tag and the service was truly awful.
Small cozy enoteca. Overall experience was just ok. Daily specials were posted outside with several delicious dishes that all three of us were excited about. Upon sitting we were told that the specials were not available. Coming from a first generation Italian family I was immediately disappointed with the bread that was served ( white and brown rolls). I expected to have only the best hard crust Italian bread especially being in the North End. The meatballs had too much bread stuffing and were somewhat soft and mushy in the center. I enjoyed my swordfish and rapi dish. Gnocchi was average. The Sunday pasta dish came in a very generous portion and the sauce was tasty.
Busy, close seating, which would be tolerable if the food had been good. Apart from an exceptional appetizer of figs, prosciutto and blue cheese, the entrees were forgettable. Hubby's pasta dish was not great and my Chicken Marsala.....well, the chicken was dry and overcooked, the potatoes and vegetables were mushy, as if they had been stewed for a few hours to the point where there was no taste or texture...we also felt rushed to eat and leave.....obviously it was important to turn tables ASAP. We made a reservation which we assumed would be our table for as long as we wanted it....instead, it was a conveyor belt of food with thesis of getting you served and out.
Sorry, Carmelina's but we won't be back.
The food was delicious and we could tell that everything was made fresh. I would mention that it was very loud in the restaurant between the kitchen, music, and patron chatter, it was a bit hard to hear the 3 other individuals I was dining with. Also, I felt that the staff could use a bit of efficiency training as they seemed to be off their game and looked overwhelmed. Our first waitress took out drink order, then left for the evening without saying anything to us. So we were unsure who we should be waiting for. Otherwise the food was great and it was a pleasant experience. Also note that the venue is very small.
