The food was great but it seemed like our server hardly came to our table. The other servers always seemed to be around and attentive so not sure what happened with ours. Had to wait a long time to order our food, and she never checked on how the food was once it arrived

We enjoyed the Mother’s Day brunch at Carmela’s. I was very impressed! The food was great with a good variety of high quality breakfast and lunch items. I especially enjoyed the crepes, waffles with blueberries and homemade whipped cream, and cannolis. All restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and just added to the wonderful experience that we had.

We went there with a party of 8 for my daughters grad. Both sets of grandparents with us the oldest 93. We were sat in a corner round table and we were able to talk easily and service and food was very good. Nobody left hungry that’s for sure.

We ate at Carmella's for our anniversary. The calamari was fresh, the goat cheese stuffed mushrooms were divine. Service was exceptional, he was attentive but not smothering and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The eggplant parmigiana was perfect. So hard to get eggplant cooked right. The pollo involtini melted in my mouth. I would definitely return!!! Thank you for making our anniversary special.

We could not speak more highly of our experience at Carmela’s. We had reservations for four to celebrate the graduation of a family friend from IUSB. Because of traffic issues at the graduation the graduate ran late and asked if he could bring three additional friends. Running near closing time the whole wait and kitchen staff preformed extraordinarily and made our dinner a night to remember. We were most appreciative and will make Carmela’s the required stop whenever in South Bend.

We made reservations here for a family gathering and we were seated in the main dining area. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! We had a few at our table that had some allergies and they were easily accommodated. There was a salad served with our meal and the dressing was so tasty. The sauces all are flavorful and very fresh! We will be back. The friendly servers and managers were a breath of fresh air!!

Our server was excellent and after reading raving reviews we had expected the food would great. Unfortunately it wasn't quite to par. The Caesar Salad was good, interesting to have tomatoes and cucumber but good dressing, We ordered the Bolognese and it was basically marina with two meatballs. There was no meat in the sauce and it definitely was NOT bolognese sauce. Again our server was great!

We were in town and thought we would check this restaurant out based upon the Yelp ratings/reviews. It is very busy, so you need to make a reservation. The wait staff is very nice and attentive and they hustle taking care of the customers. The food was unfortunately rather mediocre. While it’s great the entrees come with a house salad, it had way too much dressing. In addition while the lettuce leaves were very dark green (which is terrific) there’s barely anything else included (one tiny grape tomato and 2 tiny pieces of cucumber). I had a shrimp dish with linguine, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes. The pasta was way over cooked and the sauce just didn’t have much flavor. The other person had a carbonara linguine and shrimp dish, and he had similar feedback. They bring bread with the salads, but it was cold and tasted like store bought white bread (a nice warm crusted bread/baguette) would be much better. Anyway we were not impressed and wouldn’t come back next time we are in town.
