Carisma Ratings and Reviews
What a pleasant surprise. The food was sublime. The service was jovial, entertaining and oh so professional. The waiters take great pride in what they do. None of the usual “ I just am doing this until I find what I want to do” My wife and I will go back again for sure.
Considering it was our first time at Carisma, we didn’t know what to expect but were inevitably blown away by the food and service. Definitely the hot, new Italian spot in the city and well worth the drive. Make your reservations in advance and try to make it before the end of truffle season!
Carisma is always amazing. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel instantly welcome. It's a small place (vs. a big chain restaurant) so is much more intimate. The food was delicious as always - burrata, scallops, lamb, sea bass, monkfish and osso buco were all consumed - every last bite! I would recommend Carisma to anyone, anytime!
Food was excellent and service was also very good. True Italian waitress that was very informative with the menu and the atmosphere was lovely . My only complaint would be that we felt very rushed throughout our entire time there. The servers were constantly watching over us from a short distance away and returning to our table to the point of feeling uncomfortable, although they were all very pleasant. The food was served very quickly which is great if you are in a rush, but if you have lots of time it's too fast. This is a place you want to take some time to enjoy.
Lunch was for our annual Christmas party. Having never been here before I was very impressed with the staff and the meal. The appetizer and the meal were delicious. My go to is always the tomato and mozzarella salad which did not fail to impress me. The orechiette meal was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates Italian.
We showed up with a last-minute reservation, and asked for a tasting menu. They were incredibly busy, absolutely packed, and you could see that the waiter was a bit nervous about telling us yes – because they do not normally offer a tasting menu.
And yet, after talking to the chef, they delivered! And it was a wonderful meal. Every pasta dish was fantastic. The final course was a mixed grill with duck and lamb, it arrived hot and perfectly seasoned.
The manager checked in on us several times to make sure that everything was going fine. Overall, I was really impressed at the quality of service and the quality of food at a time when the restaurant was fully packed with customers.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Italian cuisine.
This was the worst experience dining ever. The noise was deafening. The waiter had to screen the specials. A waitress stood between two tables, flicked her hair which went over my shoulders and on my plate. I had to ask her to move. What a horrible evening. It was to be a special evening for my wife's birthday. I will never return and will advise everyone I know of my experience. This is a classless restaurant. It is e pensive but I was ready for that but not what I encountered. We were staying at the King Edward and told them of our horrible evening.
Took my wife here for her birthday. We arrived at 7 and were essentially thrown out by 7:45. We felt rushed right from the beginning. We sat down, menus were put in front of us and within 3 minutes the server came by asking us what we wanted. My wife had to remind her she never even asked if we wanted a drink. Cocktail arrived and the server again asked us for our order. I told her to relax and we don't want to rush. She comes back in 5 minutes and again asks. We give her our order. At this point I was turned off and wanted to leave but I didn't want to ruin the evening. Starters arrive in 3 minutes and as soon as we took the last bite, the mains arrive. We didn't even have time to breath. We finished our mains and the dessert menu was placed on the table and our server asked us immediately after what we want. We both declined, paid the bill and left. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. My wifes meal was luke warm at best. There are way better Italian places than this. We will not return.
Great place for a fun dinner; entertaining and attentive staff and hearty meals. Great place for veal in several different dishes. Pricy but good value. A little loud but you can still have a conversation (just don't talk about anything too private). Delicious food. I will certainly return.
Food was extremely under whelming. The service was the part that killed the whole experience. There is a difference between attentive vs. hovering like hawks. To make matter worse, they had to move our tables twice just to adjust the thermostat. We couldn’t relax, couldn’t take our time because the bill was delivered promptly. Will definitely not return for food and definitely not recommend to colleagues and friends.
Mother daughter trip to Toronto and we went to Carisma. Food was delicious and the service was perfect. Felt very welcome like family and left with hugs. We had the buffalo mozzarella salad, seared scallops, and veal stuffed ravioli. All was very good. The wine list was extensive and had something for everyone and in every budget. We will come back when we are in Toronto again.
My friends and I were celebrating a birthday and at the last minute selected Carisma for a late dinner. I have to say they did not disappoint. Food was amazing the staff was very attentive. Treated us like family. Most certainly will be going back.
Excellent service and ambience.Very busy and lively.Main cours was disappointing with fish slightly undercooked and veal special was a bit tough.Aps and deserts were very good.As most places in Toronto, wine list was extensive but overpriced.
Would not rate it 12 in the city.
