We were concerned that it was actually their "last night" as they were moving locations the next day, but in fact, other than regulars stopping by and wishing the owners good luck, there were no stumbles at all that we could tell. The food and service were both great. My lamb was superb and the fish that the others ate was delicious. The appetizers were great and since it was my birthday the complementary candle in a cake was great too. As far as the singing waiters, can't say they got all the notes on key -LOL! But can hardly wait till they're back open at a new location.
Went on the restaurant's last day on King street. You could tell that the restaurant staff really enjoyed working together as they were taking pictures of each other to commemorate the occasion. Our waiter was wonderful and quite frankly all the staff were very attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and authentic. Will go again when they open their doors at the new location.
Had high expectations but was not impressed.
This is my first time here, and i actually heard about it for many years and didnt get a chance to give it a try. Unfortunately, the food was good as i hoped. I had the osso bucco, and it wasnt tender and flavourless. The rissotto that came with it had not taste. I only smell thmye that came with the dish and taste the parsley in the rissotto. My girlfriend ordered the scallop risotto, which tasted better. You can taste the seafood flavour, however there was sand in her scallop, and the scallop was sliced in half to make it two pieces. She had two pieces (4 sliced in half). The risotto was not cooked well, it was quite raw for some of the rice and it was hard to chew. Iwas quite disappointed as i had very high expectation.
The server didnt pay much attention to my table, maybe because i didnt order a bottle of wine, like the table next to me. He asked if we needed pepper or cheese, and then went to serve the guest next to us. He forgot to give us pepper and cheese for the tasteless food. Also, i had an empty glass of water for half my meal.
We came in pre-concert so we were first in and early out.
I love this place and sorry it's moving venue and hope management keeps the charm.
Like dining in Europe - charming interior, food that is 'old school European' - like carpaccio.
Hard to find these days but excellent at Carisma.
Our friends from out of town were in love with the restaurant and our waiter was very proficient and also had a great personality, sense of humour.
Nice to enjoy a great glass of wine also!
Don't miss out when they re-open in the Fall. Know we will be going back to the new location.
PS As a Designer, love the black interior!
Food and service was in the good old Il Mulino tradition and was what we expected.
Mare Misto was superb. Veal was very good. A couple of the items could have had a bit more flavour. The selected wine had to be substituted and was upgraded without an upcharge. Service was first class.
We look forward to the new location in the Fall.
Amazing Italian food and excellent customer service! The staff can’t do enough to make your experience a wonderful one.
Everything was good except they missed the table request, however they did make up for it. 😃
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was very good, the service was outstanding and ambiance was wonderful. It is a shame that the restaurant will have to move from its venue at the end of the month
Always the best.
Simply stated.....an authentic Italian dining experience in downtown Toronto. Great service, food, wine list and ambience.
Delicious food, great welcoming staff, loved bartender after our dinner. Didn’t care for macho waiter. I had chosen three possible bottles of wine ranging from 90-150. He guided me away to a lesser known wine expressing ill be happier than with a Barolo or Amarone. Wine was good, not great at 95 dollars. Looked it up on line later and I can buy for $15. Felt ripped off.
One comment on food. Chef is talented and creative. Well thought out flavors. Tagliatelle with Ragu a must. Black Cod was exceptional
Excellent, authentic Italian food. Service was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!
We had a perfect birthday experience. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!!
Truly exceptional service
Good food and service. Wine was very overpriced and my ozzo buco was a bit tough. I would go back!
It would have been proper to recognize my granddaughter's birthday as they were aware why we at the restaurant.
El atún es espectacular si hay temporada. La atención estupenda por la buena actitud de todos los que trabajan en este lugar.
Great service, food and atmosphere. Really nice decor at this restaurant.
Only one small suggestion - The amount of food brought out for the cost wasn’t enough to meet the expected value, although very tasty.
I will come back to try again.
Excellent. Great fish. Wine menu though was seriously overpriced 375% markup on McManus Chardonnay and others.
Ownership are seasoned restaurant people.
Reliably solid Italian food.
Best Italian experience I got in Toronto
Absolutely phenomenal. Went here for a second anniversary dinner and it could not have been a better choice. We had Massimo as our server and he was great, super friendly and his service skills were on point.
The food was EXCELLENT ... I couldn't offer one suggestion for the food or service. Money well spent.
Carisma is a sure thing - it is great every time. Make sure you make a reservation as the concierge at the King Eddy keeps this spot full most nights.
The food was great (as always) but I was surprised my table for two was the worst one in the house as I live in the neighbourhood and I am there quite often.
The fresh from the oven bread - with a sprinkling of sea salt and rosemary - is irresistible. The house wine is very fine, either by the glass or by the bottle. The salads are big enough for two. The menu is lovely - and classically Italian - and they always include several specials. This time I had the spaghettini with gigantic shrimps and the warm walnut tart with ice cream. The espresso is also great - treat yourself to a double.
Excellent food, first class service, but , boy was it expensive! Watch the daily specials, which are good, but whose prices are not disclosed. I had the ribeye special, which was $60! Come prepared to pay a lot, but to get great food.
Stylish place with very good food and reasonable prices. But very noisy place, everyone was speaking at the top of their voice and we still can’t hear each other well. Maybe it is the reflective material used in the interior.
The food was great and tasty, I recommend mozzarella cheese for the appetizer.
We had a fabulous dining experience this evening!
The calamari was prepared in a way which we have never tasted before. It was grilled and so tender... It reminded us of our freshly prepared and grilled abalone caught off the Northern Californian Coast!
I would highly recommend this appetizer.
Great service, food & drinks. Server was so nice. My gf was interested in two different pasta dishes so he got her half & half so she could have both.
Food was excellent and service very good. Their house red wine was delicious!
Love this restaurant. Great service without being intrusive. Food was delicious without being fussy. My new favorite Toronto Italian restaurant.
Great place to go with clients and party of 6-8 type of thing. The food is always impeccable the servers are lifers, they are so professional and knowledgeable, they don't rush you out, the drinks are excellent and not " underpoured". Fresh fish and all the classics, freshly baked bread the lighting is great it's a darker lighting vibe with darker decor. Never a bad choice for sure. We always have a fantastic dinner at Carisma.
Must do something extra when special occasion was mentioned in the booking itself. Personal connection bell will resonate in customers mind all their life.
Extremely professional service, great food!!! Wine guy was helpful. All staff great to deal with.
CARISMA is the hidden gem of the downtown core in Toronto.
Nestled in a lovely spot on King St. E this is my absolute favourite Restaurant in Toronto.
Service is always outstanding, menu is exactly what you expect from an upscale Italian Restaurant.
Ambiance is comfortable, owners are outstanding.
Quality of food was excellent and the service as well. Would return.
Always a wonderful experience. Staff are knowledgeable and professional. Great night with delicious food!
Both the food and the service were impeccable. We will definitely be back!
The veal was over cooked quite badly. Shoe leather. The food was not hot when served. The service was excellent. The place was full of office party groups on a Thursday night and was quite noisy. Wine was excellent but overpriced.
