Carino Riserva Ratings and Reviews
Love this place. Even when I misread the menu and got something I wasn’t expecting, it turned out to be beyond my expectations. The service was excellent as always and of course savourily wonderful. One of my favourite restaurants always that never disappoints.
This is not a traditional Italian cuisine restaurant. The dishes are a blend with Japanese and might be worth an experiment to determine if you like it. The food was not bad, just not what we like which is more true Italian. The carbonara as an example was not like any that I have ever had. The Pork was cooked perfectly, but the rest of the plate was not what I would have expected from the name.
We also ordered sushi which was wonderful and pure to the cuisine.
Again, this is a restaurant to experience and decide if it is your taste.
Food was okay, not much special, we had the Duck Duck it was fried rice with a duck leg, the rice part was very salty and the leg meat was very dry, couldn’t finish it, we told the lady but she didn’t do anything about it, in other restaurants we’ve been to if we weren’t satisfied with the dishes they would either cook it again or take a discount off the bill, but this restaurant seems she doesn’t want to cuz they were too busy? We also had the mussels didn’t know that it came with fries we ordered fries on side additionally so we had too much fries, she could of let us know the mussels come with fries so we wouldn’t need to order extra. Also had the Riserva salad and the curry risotto, not much special didn’t wow me. There was not much service there was only one lady she was too busy we had to wave at her every time to get her attention. Only thing we like was we had the window seat it was a bit more spacious. The price wasn’t worth the experience n the food, it would be better to go a block away at Mercato, i would not recommend this restaurant.
Carino Reserva delivers a fusion of hearty Italian cuisine balanced with a delicate Japanese sensibility - quite eclectic and clever and in my opinion, it takes a master. From the seasonal pumpkin salad to the risotto made with Japanese rice, it was delightful. In my opinion, the food is a great value, especially for the level of execution. Portions are elegantly right-sized. So good. So very good. If you've not been, expect to be pleasantly surprised.
Food was wonderful but service was extremely slow. It took at least 20 minutes before we could order a drink (wine) and once we got that another 20 minutes before we ordered our meals (by flagging down the waitress). There was only one waitress working and she was doing her best - the restaurant was full to capacity and I saw many others vying for the waitress' attention. The food however was delicious. Everything we ate had such wonderful and some unusual flavours. We enjoyed our wine and meals but before I return the service would need to be a lot more prompt and attentive.
My guest changed the meeting time 3 times in a matter of 30 mins, so yay for Open Table being so easy and convenient to make changes. But after all that and after 20 mins of still waiting for my guest(and not being in contact), I left the restaurant. It was one of those days where I just lost patience. I was disappointed because the food certainly smelled very good. The front person was very cordial and understanding and I appreciate still issuing the points. Hope to come back with someone more dependable! From what I could tell from watching the restaurant in action, I don’t think you would go wrong here.
The food here is great, unique combinations and delicious. This was our second time here (first time was over a yr ago) and still enjoyed the menu. For appetizers we had the spicy mussels with frites (light-med heat, really good), duck appetizer (very small, could have skipped it). For the mains, seafood pesto gnocci (very good) and duck leg ramen (again great flavor and not too salty, get it w gnocci as the noodles are just udon) and a steak combo (really worth it and good). Prices comparable to other casual fine dining restaurants. Our server was a bit awkward (short haired lady, didn't know the specials of the night and made them sound unappetizing said one item that was deep fried was 'kind of like a chicken nugget' - who would ever order that if it were described that way?) but friendly, not overly present though. Small, unique restaurant, worth a try if you haven't eaten here before.
This was our fourth or fifth time and still love the place. But we did notice something different in the ambiance. Usually we are greeted with a warm and inviting hello and when we leave, one of the chefs would run to the door to open it for us and thank us and bow. It always felt like they knew us personally, which of course they didn’t, but it felt like it. Anyway, there was none of that this time and it was a little disheartening, they didn’t know us anymore, 🙁
4th time here. Perfect meal every time. Fabulous service-considerate, discrete and efficient. The food...divine. Beautiful presentation and flavours that sing. Portion sizes are just right. A table of 4 - we each had a different menu item and each person raved about their meal. Duck done to perfection, gnocchi SO tender and delicious, scallops with perfectly al dente risotto... I highly recommend!
