We enjoyed everything about our experience at the Capitol Grille. After first being graciously allowed to meet upstairs in the historic lobby and learning about the hotel’s role in the Tennessee vote for procuring the right to vote for women, my school group was honored recognized at the Tennessee State Senate, just a short walk away. We followed up that visit with a lovely breakfast here at the Capitol Grille. Our server was wonderful, attending to every need. Our meal was warm, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Our party particularly enjoyed the signature side dishes of grits with goat cheese and the breakfast potatoes. I also can’t say enough about the ambience. After breakfast, we took a little more time upstairs in the lobby to view and study the artifacts on display to celebrate this 100th anniversary year of the passing of the 19th amendment. Valet parking was free for the first two hours, and although we exceeded that time, we felt the $20 charge was well worth the convenience.

The Tennessee sausage patties were awesome! Tender, mildly flavored, perfectly cooked!

Should you be visiting Nashville and want to see some amazing architecture, ambience, top notch service as well as very fine cooking and presentation, do yourselves a favor and book a rez here! For interest, my wife and I had a photo shoot in the historic men's bathroom. We will definitely be going back on our next trip!

Both had salmon - one asked for it plain, one as described in menu - both were excellent! Server was very attentive without intrusion.

So disappointing. The hotel is lovely. The Oak Bar wonderful. The Capitol Grille mediocre at best.

We were victims of a cold night, sitting near the door the cold air blew on us and we wished we had not checked our coats. Other than that it was perfect but that is a problem, the outside door is just up the stairs and the doors to the Grill were wide open.

We ate at the Capitol Grille three or four times while staying at the Hermitage. The breakfasts were very enjoyable. The dinner, however, was utterly disappointing. It was the far and away the most expensive dinner we had in Nashville and definitively the least tasty meal we had the whole trip. One member of our party was a vegetarian, and was served nothing that tasted as good as what we make at home. The other had the beef filet, and said any chain steak place (Mortons, Ruby's, Ruth's Chris, etc) is MUCH better. If you want to experience the history of the Hermitage, have breakfast at the Capitol Grille, but save dinner for Rolf and Daughters, which is one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere, including the Graycliff and the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's.

Extremely terrible service. I felt sorry for our server because I think they were under staffed for a busy Sunday brunch. The food was just ok. Really expected better at this caliber of an establishment.

Had Valentine’s Day dinner at the Capitol Grille. Experience was a mixed bag. Ambiance was excellent as it is located in the famous Hermitage Hotel. Service was solid, but not above and beyond. Food was a mixed bag, my wife enjoyed it while I was a bit disappointed (note; I’m not big on exotic food, for example Bone Marrow). The menu was fixed for Valentine’s Day with very limited options, I generally hate this tactic. Prefer they offer you choice of a fixed menu and ordering off the regular menu. Can’t say that I felt our meal was a good value, after the mandatory / fixed 20% tip our bill for 2, with 1 glass each of Moscato, came out to almost $250. Don’t mind paying this much for a special occasion but did not feel like we got our money’s worth tonite.

I like Capitol Grille for a special lunch. It has a lovely atmosphere, it's not too noisy, and I'm able to carry on a conversation without having to talk loudly. The food is consistently good and I like that a lot of it is locally sourced.

Service was not terribly prompt, but very polite. Several different people took care of us, so we were never exactly sure who we were supposed to go to for questions.

Brunch Drinks were lovely. Fried green tomatoes were not great, but the Pimienta cheese that accompany them was delicious. The menu should read baked French toast, as it is delicious and stuffed, but not at all what we were expecting.

We visit this restaurant about once a quarter, and the experience is always good.

Mediocre dinner, but great breakfast. As far as dinner, pales in comparison to Ruth’s Chris. Breakfast is far better.

slow service, didn't review the menu items that can be prepared gluten free. Didn't offer bread to the guest that can eat gluten. seemed to be a very disorganized staff and kitchen.

You can never go wrong with Capital Grill. The Filet Mignons were tender and cooked to perfection. Location is perfect after going to the theatre.

Hostess was beyond rude. They are jerks about timing of sitting even five minutes earlier or later. Which is only made worse by the incredibly slow service. It took an hour to get our food from when ordered and half of it was cold. I would expect this from an Outback not an overly priced restaurant.

So besides the rude service, insanely slow cook, forgotten items when ordered, and overpriced menu it is just a poor restaurant.

This was my second time dining at the Capital Grille. The first time everything was great. This time my steak was over cooked. I ordered a dry aged sirloin medium rare, and I think it came medium well, with a burnt end. When my waiter asked if my steak was ok, I said yes because I had not noticed the burnt end. The steak was still Ok, I just couldn't eat the burnt end.
