Delicious food, great atmosphere, and reasonably priced apps and entrees. Love it here!
Very good Spanish, Mexican food. The best guacamole ever, and yummy appetizers that were a new taste treat.
The retried beans were out of this world! Tasted like they added mole. Delicious! Salsa was nice and spicy. Had the shrimp filled chili rellenos!
A first for me and hopefully not the last.
Birthday .. great time
The service was spot on. Our waitress seemed to still be learning the menu, but the hostess/other waitress was very knowledgable. The space was well kept and cozy. Theres even outdoor seating. The Habanero guacamole was tasty - although it could have been a bit spicier. We both ordered the Mexican plate with chicken. The chicken was well seasoned and the bean were impressively good (and vegetarian!) The corn tortillas were a nice accompaniment to the dish and made up for the underwhelming rice.
The food was poor and unappealing. I had the enchiladas and my date had tacos. They put onions over everything - and that was basically their idea of flavor. Even the salsa was unappealing!
Went to hear the Saturday night band and went early enough to have dinner. Mine was a shrimp cerviche which was definitely excellent. Music was great!
Best Margarita ever! Small, but potent. Also, good mole.
I came to Cantina with five friends for a farewell dinner last week. We were seated immediately and the food was great! The owner even came by to give us a sample of his super spicy salsa to have with our chips :-). The margaritas were great as well! I recommend the Rosemary and Ginger margarita, but it's strong!
The owner and staff were warm and welcoming. The food was delicious!
Food was good, big portions, freshly fried chips, good guacamole, good service, reasonable prices
It was great! Parking was a little tight, but food and service was great!
We loved Cantina La Mexicana! The selection of margaritas is fun, and the food was excellent, a cut above a lot of the Mexican we find in this part of the U.S. We met friends there, and had a great time. We plan to return.
This has been our favorite family spot for over 20 years! We had a birthday party dinner for 18 people and it was all handled beautifully. There is a semi-private area for larger groups. The food is delicious, kid friendly, and the blood orange margaritas are killer!
Very friendly and thoughtful staff and delicious food st a fair price. Will certainly return!
Birthday party .. the owner was great but the food was cold and they ran out of avocado
Great, authentic food for a great price. The server was conscientious of my date's food allergies which was much appreciated. Would definitely return again!
I was there with two of my coworkers for lunch and found the service to be very good. We all chose the same plate which consisted of:
1 chile relleno
We were satisfied with the food and the portion was adequate for lunch./
I will go back.
Very good authentic mexican food, I highly recommend it if you want real mexican food. Nice friendly service. Will definitely go again!
As a native Californian, it's very hard to find good Mexican food on the East coast. Cantina la Mexicana definitely satisfied my standards.
AMAZING service. A+ will be coming again!
Owner had a great sense of humor. He even put money in my parking meter when he saw the the meter maid coming by. Very friendly atmosphere!!
Great food and drinks for a good price
This really should be a neighborhood gem, but the food needs to improve. Start with making better tortillas and refried beans. If those aren't right, there's no point in the rest.
This is a fun little Mexican restaurant. Quite good food, fresh, and delicious. The maragaritas are great. Definitely a restaurant to come back to again and again. And I can totally see why this got rated "Biggest Bang for the Buck"! We'll be back.
There were 8 of us and everyone found something on the menu that they liked. I especially enjoyed the Pollo in Mole sauce, both taste and ingredients were very authentic!
The decor is very well done too.
This was our second meal at Cantina La Mexicana. We liked it very much once again and thought it was a very good value. It's more authentically Mexican and less Tex-Mex than most Mexican restaurants in Boston. The service was excellent and the room was quiet though there were plenty of customers on Saturday night so it didn't seem dead. The TV was on over the bar with sports on, but the sound had been muted, which we appreciated. It was conducive to conversation. The flan was delicious.
Really great authentic Mexican food. We especially liked the fish tacos (lots of cilantro!).
A bustling, fun Cantina! Great spot for groups. The unbelievably low prices do not reflect the quality of the food. A great value. I had the best chiles relleno there that I have ever had....the skip the deep fryer. Try it!
My wife and I came in during a quiet time late on a Thursday afternoon. The owner greeted and seated us. He explained the menu and made some suggestions while he waited for his waitresses to come in to start the evening shift. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The food was very good, and the overall service was great. We'd definitely go back again.
Great food, great place all around
It was a good restaurant price wise, has short menu.
I had high expectations for this place...but it turned put to be marginal fare at best. The prices are very reasonable....but that's pretty much it.
Our party of four had an fun time at Catina La Mexicana. They have amazing Sangria here and the service was outstanding. We even received complimentary drinks from the manager. This is the perfect place to enjoy some Mexican food with friends.
Fantastico! If you miss Texas, come here. If you think Border Cafe serves Mexican food, you are about to be educated.
The food was a bit bland--I had to add salt to almost everything I ate. It also wasn't very spicy-hot, which was requested. I probably won't be going back any time soon.
It was a very busy Saturday night, so that might account for the less than stellar ratings. The meals were good, and the staff diligently tried to make up for what appeared to be a "short-staffed" evening. But we waited an inordinate amount of time for the initial welcome, and the margharitas were a disappointment.
Food was good but service was lacking. Asked for table to be wiped down because it was sticky and the buser couldn't understand what we were asking. Instead of finding someone who could help us, he just ignored us. Finally the server eventually came over to us and we explained that the table was sticky and dirty and she took care of it after hunting down a rag and cleaner. Not a great start but the food was good and the server did try her best after the table cleaning.
We started with great homemade tortilla chips and perfect salsa. I had the Jalapeno margarita - very tasty with a nice bite. Then all three of us had different varieties of enchiladas (they were out of the Mahi-Mahi). one rajas with mild sauce, one pork & beef with mild sauce, and one with potatoes/chorizo and rajas with spicy sauce. all were very good, though the waitress gave the beef & pork to the vegetarian, the chorizo and rajas to the person who doesn't eat mushrooms and the rajas to the omnivore. fortunately, we figured out the error before the vegetarian ate the meat. They all were very tasty, the spicy sauce was not overly so and the mild sauce had amazing flavor. Roberto, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. a good host!
