Great service and food but a bit noisy.
This place has been around for years. The furniture is older and worn but you don’t come here for that. You come for the attentive service, delicious food, creative menu and cozy North End ambiance. We live locally and have our choice of North End restaurants and 90% of the time, we’re here. Valet parking, too!
We loved our dinner and Omar is one of the best waiters we have ever had!!
We stumbled upon this restaurant after trying 2 others along the street as we were walking. We had delicious food and great service! Would definitely come back when we’re in Boston again, and would highly recommend!
This place is a bit on the expensive side but atmosphere, quality of food and service are well worth it!
We’re in town on a tour and my brother recommended so glad we came! Grazi!
Service was outstanding as was the food and the atmosphere. This is one of those North End restaurants that seems like the place to eat. Glad we made reservations because the place was packed before we arrived and after we left. So many great choices on the menu. The food is fresh and delicious.
Fantastic food, welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter (Omar) was outstanding.
I love Cantina, my favorite restaurant in the North End! Wonderful staff and even better food!
We had the best experience here all around. From the host to the waiter to the food. We had the meatball app. Best meatballs we ever had. My husband had the spaghetti and shrimp dish which was perfect. I had a pasta and bolognese dish. Perfectly cooked pasta (not al dente). The staff was welcoming and very appreciative that we stopped in. We sadly didn't leave room for dessert.
Three of us ate. Lasagna, Chicken parmigiana and the special of the night (bow tie something or other in a vodka sauce). All 3 were excellent. Do recommend reservations for sure. You won’t be disappointed.
A wonderful place! The Manager (Alberto) and staff make you feel like you are the only patrons in the restaurant. The only thing better than the outstanding service is the outstanding food. We'll be back!
Went there for lunch and was overall very satisfied. Our server was very friendly, though it seemed he had too many tables to cover and so things were a little slow as a result. The food was excellent; I particularly enjoyed the arancini appetizer. They also make a very good marinara sauce. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, although it was not the best North End dining experience I've had.
Good food, good wine, good atmosphere. Most of the staff seems very friendly, especially the owner, Alberto. But, our waiter Sal seemed very busy while he was serving us.
The service and food are always top notch. Andrew or waiter is great and makes the meal all that more enjoyable. Recommend trying Cantina Italiana on a night out and requesting Andrew for your waiter
The food was amazing but our waiter Omar made the night complete. He was the best, very attentive, energetic and fun. Our group had a fabulous night celebrating a special birthday. Thanks for everything!
Excellent food and nice atmosphere. The maitre d' is wonderful.
Place needs a makeover, it’s tired, replace restrooms.
Overall pricey, deserts need help. To many other options
in the North End.
Omar and staff are awesome!
We were greeted warmly, served and attended to with dignity and decorum, it was a delightfully civilized meal and the food was spot on!! Thank you!
I was in town for a meeting and a local colleague recommended Cantina. Rarely do places live up to the hype but this place did. The service was outstanding warm and attentive without being obtrusive. The menu was comprised of standard Italian fare but perfectly executed. I will definitely return in my next trip to Boston.
I made a reservation for my husband’s birthday. There was quite a line so I was glad I had a reservation! My eggplant Parmesan was delicious! I was a bit disappointed that without paying for a cake dessert - they would not sing Happy Birthday or do anything. I would recommend this restaurant in the North End!
Four of us were seated promptly for our reservation time. Staff was very polite and available to questions. I would absolutely return here again.
Food was fantastic!
Best of the “red sauce” restaurants in the North End! Friendly service in the restaurant.
We were in town to take the teens to a concert at the Garden. And the folks were in town as a stop on their cruise. And the adult kids were available to stop by. They took us all! Even with a bustling time of year with parents bringing their kids back to college.
The food was tasty. And filling. The servers were super pleasant. It couldn’t have gone better.
The tortelloni and sangrias are everything! The interior could use a face-lift, but that won’t keep me from coming back. I’ll be dreaming about the pasta until then!
The food and the atmosphere are top notch. You are warmly greeted as you enter and you feel like family before desert is served. A must for any North End visit!
Food and service were on point. The entire group enjoyed their meals and the time we spent together!
Fantastic staff and great food!
Owner and Carlo, our waiter very nice, friendly and efficient. Quaint place in North End.
Delicious food; true authentic Italian cuisine. Highly recommend !
Love Cantina, have been here multiple times and as always the food was amazing. The service was wonderful, and just a great atmosphere, highly recommend!
Outstanding food and service. Great place for good Italian food. The egg plant parmesan was great. More like a vegetable lasagna, but spectacular. The others in our party had great meals. You can't go wrong with anything you select.
The expresso martini was delicious!!
As was dinner! We def will be back!!
The bread and oil are a great start. The gnocchi is a repeated favorite. The Scaloppine Valdostana was my first and it was terrific. The meats and cheese were a nice combination, which went well the blend of mushrooms and masala sauce. I had a hard time venturing away from my usual chicken park but I am so glad I did. Dinner was fantastic. The only thing out of place was that the usual host, with all his charm, was not working that night.
We have been several times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent. Our waiter, Marco, was very attentive, pleasant and friendly. The valet parking is another facet we enjoy. Highly recommend!!
My husband and I were in Boston for vacation, and were told the North End for Italian food is a must. I read several reviews and chose this restaurant. The place is loud, but not too loud. We were seated right away at our reservation time. The service is fast, perhaps too fast- we were done in 45 minutes. The food selections and portions were plentiful, and our lasagna and pasta were delicious. I would say it was "ok", not exceptiopnal. I would recommend, but probably not return, as we like to always try new places.
Hands down the best bolognese! Everything delish! Authentic old school Italian
My wife and I came here with three other couples for Saturday night dinner during a semi-annual friends weekend. We were welcomed warmly by the maître d' who I think was the owner as well. The restaurant isn't that big but we got a really nice table for eight in the front window on Hanover Street. The atmosphere was pure North End.
Our server Omar was outstanding. Knowledgeable, extremely friendly and engaging, and very attentive. We all ordered a pasta or gnocchi dish. The pasta included Bolognese, chicken parm, a special seafood ravioli, and eggplant parm. The meals were delicious. Everyone finished everything.
We all wanted desert, too, and split tiramisu, cannoli, and a chocolate gelato. They were delicious as well.
The prices were very reasonable.
We would definitely go back.
