Good selection of perennial Italian dishes. Excellent service.
I travel to Boston about 6-8 times a year. There is never a trip that I don't have dinner at Cantina Italiana. From the time we enter the restaurant, we are warmly greeted by Alberto and the staff - Omar, Marco and crew. The food is always wonderful and we are never rushed through our meal. My favorite meal is Bombolatti con Argosta - it is amazing.
Cantina is a home away from home.
AWESOME as always!!! Omar is the best!!!
The only reason it didn't get 5 stars across the board was that I had a table next to me with a bunch of kids at it.
Exceptional food great experience extremely cordial manager
Our waiter never offered us drinks or refills. He smelled like an ashtray and was the most unpersonable server I've ever had. The chicken was like rubber. Really ruined my wife and I night out.
By far my most favorite place in the North End! Fabulous food, large portions and very good service!
Yes the food was outstanding. We had the stuffed shell special that was stuffed with braised short ribs. Absolutely to die for.
This was our second time in Boston. Three years ago our doorman at the Kimpton Marlowe in Cambridge suggested Cantina Italiana. When planning this recent trip, we knew we had to return and we were not disappointed! We visited on a Wednesday evening so there was no wait so we really didn't need to make a reservation. Our waiter Marco was great, very friendly. The food was excellent! I absolutely love Boston, and part of it is because of Cantina Italiana. Will definitely recommend and return every time!
Booked a table at Cantina through a recommendation from a friend who said that this place was the best Italian dining in Boston and he wasn't wrong. Walked in and It was immediately clear that the environment was fun, upbeat, and authentic. The host wo seated us couldn't have been sweeter, the booth was perfect, and our server Andrew was full of information regarding the food and wine. As for the food, I had Bombolotti con Aragosta which is a homemade Bombolotti pasta, shrimp, lobster meat, garlic, olive oil, plum tomato sauce. My GF had Gnocchi alla Sorrentina which is a homemade potato dumplings served in a San Marzano tomato sauce, topped with fresh basil, Mozzarella and parmigiano cheese. Both dishes were outstanding. We also had wine and deserts gain, outstanding. Overall, we can't wait to go back again real soon!
This place really makes you feel like you are part of the family. So friendly. Specula are great and staff was very accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food and great environment! The staff were so professional and kind! Best Italian food in town!
Service was extraordinary. We loved sitting in a booth and it was very private. This restaurant will now become our favorite North End restaurant.
Excellent service. Very accommodating of a large group. Large portions of good food. Nice wine selection.
Great food & really great service , would recommend as this was a family friendly restaurant , my friends from California loved it ..
Solid, authentic food; friendly service; a bit dated, but that’s the charm of the place.
This is a great Italian restaurant in North End. Fresh made pasta. I had the Fettuccine de Salmome w spinach and vodka sauce; which was delicious. Highly recommend.
We had a lovely dinner on a busy Friday night. It is more on the casual side, but the food and service were excellent. It is less pretentious than some of the North End restaurants and it is a great value. Good food, good service, good people!!
Totally enjoyed our New Year's eve meal. Excellent environment, food and service.
Roxanne was fabulous. Food was good
It was New Year’s Eve, the North End restaurant was very busy and lots of fun
This is our 4th year in a row going here for dinner on New Year's eve. The food is always fantastic as is the service. The host (manager/owner??) is completely on top of everything required by the guests. Sitting in the front can be a little noisy being close to the bar (which is to be expected) but the staff does its best to keep things perfect for everyone there. The food is amazing! We've always started with the antipasto, a great bottle of wine and the entre never disappoints! I always go with anything served with pasta which is homemade as is the bread. Omar was our server this last time, who we've had in the past. He's always very informative with the menu offerings and, as the host, is incredibly on top of anything needed.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. This year I got the veal parmigiana was absolutely amazing! This is already on our list for next new years eve.
Fantastic, authentic meal in a welcoming comfortable atmosphere. Greeting and service was genuine and made us feel welcome. Food was delicious and fresh.
Always our favorite place in the North End. Food is excellent, service even better. There is no one better than Omar to be your server.
They make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time there. Very knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to recommend their favorite dish or bottle of wine. Great service and fantastic food!
We chose this restaurant because it had very good reviews in general and for serving gluten free food that is safe for my daughter who has Celiac's disease. She is also a vegetarian and our waiter was wonderful and accommodating offering to add any vegetables that she likes to a pasta selection that she had made from the regular menu but without meat. It was very busy when we arrived but the service was excellent and all of our food was delicious! My daughter loved the gluten free vegetarian selection that she made and felt that it was safely prepared and totally gluten free. We will definitely go back and would recommend it to other people including those with Celiac's disease and who are vegetarians.
Impeccable, unmatched service. Friendly, welcoming staff and the best ravioli I’ve ever had. A reason in itself to return to Boston!
I have been coming here forever. I can’t compare it to any others, the reason why “ It’s just that good”!
Had a wonderful dinner for four. Service was outstanding, food was exceptional. And all this in the oldest ongoing establishment in the Italian North End. Bravo! Fantastico!
Food was good! Service was good. Price was
Decent friendly staff owner. I'll be back.
Food was good but not the best I've had in the north end. Cheese on chicken parmesan wasn't completely melted and sauce was a little sweet for my taste.
Fabulous !!! Marco is the best!! The food is excellent!!
Best food ever!!! Pollo Gina (chicken and eggplant) were wonderful.. Light, tomato. sauce perfectly balanced. Nice little arrancini. Finished with excellent coffee. Very attentive service and welcoming atmosphere. Simple fabulous.
Christmas dinner family tradition . Never disappointed. Great food, location, atmosphere, servers. We’ll be back next year.
We ate at Cantina Italiana, by chance, 6 years ago. The quality and flavor of the food and superb service caused it to immediately become our destination for city dining and special occasions. We have dined with them for every anniversary and Christmas Eve (except for one) since. The dining experience is just as excellent now as it has ever been. Every dish is authentic and delicious, you can’t go wrong. Far and away, the best dessert on the menu is the amaretto torte, and don’t forget to get a smooth cup of espresso to go with it. I recommend making a reservation to be certain they’ll have a table for you.
Amazing authentic Italian food, the meatballs and Gnocchi were amazing!
All of our entrees were delicious, and portions are ample. Service by Rachel was excellent, and not rushed on a busy evening. Terrific cocktails also. This is one of our top 5 restaurants in the North End.
Christmas Eve dinner with the family. Amazing food and service!
