When I first opened CANDICCI’S in 1980, I took as my model the wonderful neighborhood ristorantes that populate New York’s famous “Little Italy” section. I wanted to recreate that special intimate ambience - a blend of attentive, friendly service, casual atmosphere and classic Italian cooking.

We go her every Christmas Eve. Probably not again. I had the veal. Not prepared well. Too thick, obviously not tenderized and way too much breading for a piccata ..not tender as veal should be. Sauce tasted like flour. If family was not there I would have asked it to be taken off bill.
We found our table ready. The hostess sat us and the waiter was prompt with our order.
This was our first time in the restaurant, usually the Chef or owner or the manager would talk to us. But this was not done here that’s why they got only 4 stars.
The food was good and the wine suggestions were appropriate.
We have been going to Candicci's since they opened and always enjoy the wide variety of Italian dishes. The service is always very good especially with Jeff, our preferred server. When booking through Open Table, we always request him. We highly recommend Candicci's for lunch, dinner or any special occasion.
Food was amazing as well as the service. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the drive from St. Charles. Great quality and amount of food for the money and clean. Bonus that I could book my reservation through "Open Table" app on my phone. Our third time here and never been disappointed!
We have dined several times at Candicci's and have never been disappointed. Our server, Jeff, was great. He was attentive without hovering. One of the specials was Grouper served over a bed of parmesan Risotto. The fish was perfectly seasoned, and the risotto was the perfect compliment. It was served hot and delicious! The pasta primavera, the other dish we ordered, was also delicious. The veggies were crisp and plentiful, and the sauce outstanding. A wonderful dining experience!
Food was ok, but definitely not great. I got ravioli and there was 1/2 bowl of sauce left over. My spouse had a seafood pasta with very little seafood and not good flavor to the sauce. We sat in a booth that was broken on the end; they need to revitalize their menu and their seating.
Three things make dining here much less enjoyable.
1. Live music. This is not a place designed for live music and it tends to disrupt and make dinner conversations difficult.
2. This is not a venue designed for large parties. There is no separate room available. When a celebration of some sort brings a large group in, everyone else in the area is subject to their revelry.
3. The tables in the back section of the dining area are jammed way too close together. There is literally at most an inch between two adjacent tables. It feels as if you are sharing a table with strangers. It also screams greed. Let's see how many people we can jam in to make as much money as possible with little regard to the dining experience of the customer.
Nice atmosphere and outstanding food paired with a variety of wine choices. The service however was pretty pathetic, glasses of water set unfilled until you literally grabbed somebody (after waiting 15 minutes +), had to grab my own extra plate and the dirty/empty dishes from earlier courses sat on our table for at least 20 minutes - and we were seated next to the waiter station. Plenty of opportunities to service, but the staff simply ignored. Really a shame as the food is some of the best Italian I've had in St Louis in some time. The staff leans to learn the difference between hospitality and service - and actually could stand to learn what at least minimal service is
The valentine specials were Very good. The staff was attentive and friendly.
The steak was a bit underdone so it was saved for microwave the next day. The pasta with lobster tail was great.
She had wine by the glass and enjoyed it. I had a draft beer , however I felt the pour into the glass was about light in being a full glass. It should have been 16 ozs for a urban chestnut but it seemed to be about 11 ozs
Since it was a special Occasion I didn't make a scene but that's the kind of stuff that happens that hurts the positive effort.
Food was excellent. Only issue we had that night was that there was a problem in the kitchen on getting the food out. I think that they were short handed that night. It took about a hour for our main course to come out. They did comp us on our drinks that night due to our wait.
Our first time at Candicci's and we Loved it! The service was professional and friendly. Our food and drinks were Amazing! We'll definitely tell our friends and be coming back again soon. Thanks for being on Open Table, it made our reservations so much easier to make.
We were there on a Friday night. It was busy, but not overly crowded. They had live music which was a bonus. One guest had salmon, and the rest of us had pasta. Our guest said his salmon was delicious, served on a bed of spinach, with a side of pasta with pink sauce. Two of us had pasta Amatriciana. It is penne pasta in a red sauce served in bowls, piping hot and favorfuI. I had Langusto Supremo which was linguini in a lobster cream sauce, full of shrimp, clams and scallops and a little red, green and yellow pepper for color. Delicious! All three pastas were large portions.
Our server, Daniel, was patient, attentive, and took the time to explain dishes we had questions about.
The owner is always visible, and stopped by our table twice to check on us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. A nice touch!
We all had special requests and the food was perfect as we ordered. Bob always visits the tables to be sure it's all ok. Great hometown local gathering place. Will continue to visit and support him as he supports the community. Join them for Officer Flamion days. Oct 10 and Nov14th.
Good and traditional Italian but with some new twists. The bread was warm and delicious and the olive oil parmesan cheese dip was excellent. Though I'd like a little more Romaine than ice berg lettuce in my salads it was crisp and good. My chicken dish was good, the potatoes done well and the tiramasu delicious. It was our first visit and likely we will be back!
