I have always enjoyed the different Café Trio restaurants in the Greater Salt Lake area. The dining experience is nice, and it's always great to dine on the patio, especially after COVID. This time, however, the menu seemed dated and not terribly interesting. Time for a menu refresh.
Cafe Trio had a dip in service earlier this summer but our waitress was very efficient yesterday and pleasant.
My last two visits I've gone with the Steak Frites and couldn't be happier. Excellent meat with a generous salad and ample fries. My wife's Cobb salad was also wonderful. I'm looking forward to a left over dinner tonight.
Try the Rosemary flat bread don’t settle for just the plain flat bread!
Been coming here for years. I realize perhaps the COVID situation has been hard to get good help in the restaurant business but it was not great. We were the only ones at the hostess area and it took forever for the hostess to seat us (this was at 5:30 pm and half full) Food was not good, I ordered shrimp scampi with over cooked noodles and overcooked shrimp. Service was really slow. Not sure we will be back.
Our meatball appetizer with polenta and gravy (red sauce) was out of this world!!
Great evening! Zachary, our server, was outstanding. Great spot for a casual dinner!
A lovely ambience, good food, and attentive staff.
Great little patio area! Overall, I would say the food is tasty, although maybe a bit overpriced for certain dishes.
Very nice. Flatbread has new dough--yeastier than before, but ratio of parmesan to flatbread ought to be MORE cheese!
Service was minimal and hard to find. Food took ages as they told us we were waiting being DoorDash orders. Pasta dishes pretty good, others less good. No atmosphere in the overly warm dining area, next to the kitchen. Not worth the money or the trip for a special occasion.
Food was OK - server was nice, but too busy and kitchen couldn’t deliver food in timely manner.
We had reservations at 6:00 on a very busy Friday but I had to remind the hostess at 6:20 that we still hadn't been seated. After ordering we waited close to 45 minutes for our food. The food, when it came was excellent.
There aren't a lot of things on the menu here that I love, but the ones I like I really like. Just discovered the best BLT ever.
This place was so great! The employees were so nice and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself was very cute. The location is nice, and finding parking was super easy. I will definitely be bringing more friends here!
It was delightful. Ended with the divine chocolate pudding!
This is maybe our 5th trip to Cafe Trio in the last several years and the second during the pandemic. We went with our 17 year old for her birthday. The service was slower than we've ever experienced. It was at least 8-10 minutes before our server came to visit us after being seated. We ordered immediately and then it was a solid 10 minutes and probably longer before our flatbread appetizer came, and 2 minutes later our salads arrived. We juggled those for a while and then waited another 10 minutes minimum before our entrees arrived. Note, the table adjacent to ours arrived well after us, and received all of their food well before us, with several identical items. The carbonara was excellent, but the baked penne that two of us ordered was overdone, to the point that tips of pasta were burned black and brown on the edges, and the garlic cream sauce broke into curds and melted butter. The creminelli ham was hard to find, and the hot chafing dish in which it was served was SO hot that it took forever to eat, having to blow each bite for 30 seconds to keep from searing the insides of our mouths.
The salads and the flatbread were excellent.
I would normally give a 4 or 5 star rating for each of my previous visits - but this was just plain disappointing.
Our server was terrible- he came back
to our table about every 20 minutes or so, mumbled,
Left our food sitting, didn’t refill drinks.
We were late to the Jazz game- and we arrived
at 4:45pm to make a 7pm game, and that was taking
our desert to go! Terrible. The food was fantastic
as usual. To bad our server was so bad.
Great food, accommodated my request for seating. Service was wonderful also
Great lunch menu and great service.
Great experience overall. We both really enjoyed. The food and will definitely be back.
A nice place to have lunch with a friend. Easy to chat with a very nice menu, healthy and tasty.
We have been going to Trio for years, but this was the first time since the pandemic. The pizza and flatbread was not thoroughly cooked- it was soggy, raw and doughy. I have to give them credit that they tried to make things right by sending us home with another pizza, but it too was soggy and undercooked.
The food and service was great. The Old Fashioned I ordered was ok. I didn’t even get a half a glass of the cocktail !
Love cafe trio! Always a great experience, good food, friendly staff.
Food was great. Wonderful staff. A wonderful evening.
Ya...made reservations for Christmas dinner, received a confirmation number & a text asking us to confirm...went at our reservation time....restaurant closed...you guys suck!!!!!
Great neighborhood restaurant with a nice patio area in the summer. Staff is wonderful
The food was outstanding as usual! Our server was so nice and helpful. He recommended dishes that we hadn't tried before and they were great. Outdoor seating was nice and we felt comfortable. Can't wait to go again!
Great food. Patio seating with comfortable social distancing.
The staff were very accommodating to our needs, the food was good and the atmosphere pleasant.
Trio never disappoints! It is my "go to" restaurant (I've been well over one hundred times)
The new chicken sandwich was delicious!
Nice local place
Steak and pasta were great
Quiet and plenty of social distancing
Bottle of wine a bit overpriced
Overall good value for the money
Food was not as good as I remember.
The service was fabulous. Everything I’ve tried on the menu is delicious. It’s really a good value. Fancy enough to take my sweetie for our 3rd anniversary, but it did t break the bank. The patio was delightful on a late-summer evening.
It was great! We really enjoyed and the food was excellent
Quite noisy on the patio due to 9th east traffic but overall, as always, great!
It’s was ok.
This is an excellent restaurant overall. But this time we were seated next to an entry walkway right next to a busy street. People walked right behind us to go in, and traffic noise disturbed us. We were seated there despite plenty of free tables on the patio, despite the fact that we'd reserved. Service was slow, with a couple of mistakes. I hope this was just an isolated frustration--Trio's been favorite spot for years.
