Café Rouge has been serving up delicious dishes, tasty cocktails and dessert since 1996. Chef and owner Marsha McBride and executive chef Rick DeBeaord focus their attention on delivering brunch, lunch and dinner options that include high-quality meats, charcuterie and seafood. Try Café Rouge's sautéed trout, oysters on the half shell or order the Grilled Rouge hamburger. Complete your meal with a glass of wine and dessert after dinner, like the toasted almond and orange cake. Café Rouge is much more than a restaurant. It is also a full-service butcher shop. Stop in and browse a wide variety of cured meats, pâté and sausage that includes salami, pastrami, rabbit, bratwurst and more.

Best cassoulet and fries ever. Great raw bar. Wonderful charceuterie. I am really going to miss Cafe Rouge. It's been my go to for many years. I'll looking out to see if the owner or chef show up with a new venture in the future.

Cafe Rouge closing is a painful. In a year where we get Trump and his alt-right henchmen we also have to lose a go-to comfort spot with superb cocktails, seafood, charcuterie and steak?? And I can just walk home. Ouch.

At the evening that was next to the closing of the restaurant, we had a good meal, the service was a bit off, and the noise level was very energetic. It seemed that many patrons came to say their goodbyes to a Berkeley long active restaurant. While I would have recommended it, there will no longer be such a restaurant to recommend. We wish the owners and their staff a Happy New Year, and send good wishes for their future endeavors.

Too bad Cafe Rouge is now closed. It was a great all-occasion, always tasty destination.

This was a very good place to have brunch with a friend on Christmas Eve. Although I've been here before and enjoyed my entree, in this case it was too heavy handed with salt and it would have been better if the chef didn't try to do so much with a simple preparation

Great for lunch or dinner. They have excellent meat, and always a nice assortment of oysters.

Another great experience. We're so sad that it seems to be our last Sunday lunch there. Thanks for so many great memories over the years.

I like this new waiter (who recently moved up from bus boy). He is great.

The power went out but we were promised one of our appetizers. However the waiter then told us that it had been given to another table. We were starving and wanted to soak up some of the very expensive alcohol so we asked for bread. Nope, no bread was available in a French restaurant. Our bill came to $50 for 3 drinks (before tip!!!) and we left still ravenous. It was a very disappointing experience.

it was awful. the drink at 12.00 was terrible; the noise level was unbearable and the food was mediocre at best. have gone there many times and this was to be our homage and goodbye to the closing restaurant and believe me, I would not ever return again with the food and drink so bad; the two of guys shared and the bill was $120.00 minus tip. the fillet cocktail had no gin in it and was a mess at 12.00. her cocktail was fair; the food was presented sloppily and even our nabobs on right said they are glad they are closing and it is time for new blood... Sorry rouge; but you are truly finished

Sadly, Cafe Rouge was down to its last days, and this was our good-bye luncheon. Really will miss this place, and from the looks of the crowd during our weekday late lunch, so will many other people.

They didn't have my reservation on their computer. They are apparently closing the restaurant for good at the end of this month.

Very good meal and excellent service. They were able to seat us earlier than our reserved time and were very gracious.

this place is a loud and active bistro with good enough food. Its wine list could be improved and it could stay open later. But it is friendly and comfortable.

Meeting a friend for lunch. We are very sorry to hear that Cafe Rouge will be closing as of December 30, 2016.
We will miss the Cafe and butcher shop, and everyone involved.
