We made reservations for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. We got the tasting menu which was well portioned and well composed. To drink we had water and the Petit Verdot Reserve. It was a great, full-bodied wine and paired well with our dinner. Favorite part was definitely dessert. Cake pops were divine and the pumpkin cheesecake was fun. Highly recommend! We only wish we had come during daylight hours to get a better view of the winery.

As always, a wonderful evening. Had drinks in the library then moved into the dining room for dinner. Service was wonderful. The Valentine's Day menu was superb. Couldn't go wrong with any of the choices but the Crispy Oyster starter and Lamb were wonderful.

Good overall. Disappointed they were only had a Valentine’s dinner menu the Sunday before Valentine’s day. I had a beet soup, which although tasty, there was just too little of it in the bowl. It actually looked silly. The pear tart was just ok, mostly ice cream.

Food and service only okay--expected much more from a fine dining experience. All appetizers and entrees needed more seasoning--especially salt. Good wine list, but our favorite wine from their own vineyard was somehow not available for purchase. Kind of a "meh" experience overall for about $75 per person.

Cafe Provencal always delivers for amazing food, service, and atmosphere. On this particular occasion, we showed up early to enjoy the Wednesday happy hour specials - namely the oysters - which we got to enjoy fireside in the library with a glass of wine before moving into the dining room for dinner. We made it for the final night of Williamsburg restaurant week so we opted for the 3-course meals and a bottle of very reasonably priced wine (of course, we chose one from Williamsburg Winery). Everything was creative, delicious, and perfectly portioned. This wasn't our first visit and definitely won't be our last.

Outstanding service. Kareem was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. His recommendations were right on the mark. We had the Onion Soup, Wessex Hundred Salad, and the Tenderloin Filet. The food was well prepared and portions well thought out. We will definitely return.

The food was superb, the service was impeccable, our waiter Kerim was attentive, knowledgeable about the entire menu, he provided a friendly atmosphere that made the evening one we will never forget, he created a special dessert for our anniversary.

I have to say we were v grateful that the restaurant was open - after 6” of snow the night before we arrived most places had shut. As we were the only table in the restaurant (which was nicely appointed) I can’t give a 5 for ambience as there was none. Everything else great, although two dishes marginally over salted meaning a 4 for food - but it’s a VERY HIGH 4 (dessert particularly good) and the wine from the vineyard was fantastic. Also our waiter was so friendly and attentive. Thanks for being there!

For many years, whenever we visit Williamsburg, we have lunch at the next-door winery. So this visit, we decided on a dinner at Cafe Provencal. What a great idea. It was a weekday, night of 3 January 2018, and not too busy as snow was imminent. Our server was Jessica and she made us feel so at-home. ALL questions were answered and her assistance in choices was very nice and personal. As this was a Wednesday, oysters were $1.00@ and husband leapt on that. The wine from Williamsburg Winery (by the glass) were very good. The beet salad was one the best I’ve ever had. Our entrees were 1) roast chicken with yummy risotto and 2) seared scallops. We topped off this feast with dessert: Honey Pot. Yum

Our server (Jessica, I think) was excellent. When she was unsure of an inquiry, she eagerly took the time to get the answer to our questions. Food was great, location unique and nicely seasonal. Could have been a little more “Christmasy”.

We celebrated Christmas Eve at Wedmore Place and had dinner at Cafe Provencal (our 4th time) at this outstanding restaurant. Service and Food get 5 stars!

We dined at Cafe Provencal on Christmas eve. The dining area is modest, but well spaced. We were seated promptly, and service was both friendly and professional.

The meal was well timed. All of the food arrived perfectly seasoned and at the right temperature. The menu is not extensive, but better to everything well, than just some things.

We were hoping for a bit more seasonal decorations, but both the food and the service were worth the trip. The ingredients seemed very fresh, and the Williamsburg wines we paired with our meals went well.

We had been to Café Provencal several times, but it had a while since we had eaten there. We had dinner just before Christmas with two couples. We were shown to a lovely corner table away from the center of the restaurant, which was perfect.
During the ordering, one couple clearly told the server that they would share an appetizer salad and the entrée. A second couple also told the server that they would share an entrée. Both entrees contained two clearly separate servings, but neither was separately plated. In fact, one of the couples ate the entire meal on an appetizer plate, because a separate plate was not provided until the couple was finished with the entrée.
The food was good, but the service suffered and our experience suffered because of the poor service related to our shared dishes. It would have been very easy for the kitchen to split the entrée portion which was clearly two on the plate. We would gladly have paid extra to have had the separate plates for the shared appetizer and entrees.
The Williamsburg Winery Sauvignon Blanc was excellent.

The easy drive from the Historic District was rewarded by an intimate dining experience provided by a pleasant staff serving excellent food along with a wine list that featured selections from the affiliated Williamsburg Winery. An excellent find. We'll dine there again when we visit Williamsburg in the future.
