   I had a fabulous dinner at the restaurant a week and half before this reservation. I raved about it to my (foodie) husband, so we decided to go for a special occasion. However, this second visit was sorely disappointing. The service (Tia S.) was still absolutely outstanding. However, the food was lacking, at best: the lobster gnocchi on my previous trip, which consisted of actual pieces of lobster and large, marshmallow-sized housemade gnocchi, was instead a tiny soup of grocery-store-like mini shell gnocchi, with 2-3 pinhead sized pieces of what might have been lobster. My husband commented that the gnocchi was "what that have at Trader Jo's" - but, $19. Willing to give it another go (and still hungry), we ordered a crab cake. Good flavor, but tiny. The soup course was good, as was his lamb, my Farrow Island salmon, and the roasted cauliflower and truffle fries for the table (like I said, it was a special occasion!) but everything was extraordinarily salty - like sea water (and we both typically like salty) even with the quality white wine's acidity to balance it. The result of this was that we were both horribly, miserably bloated for the rest of the night. I did order a piece of a the lavender cheesecake for the next day, and it too was about half the size of the one I ordered to go at my previous trip. We made the best of it because it was a special occasion and we have both worked in restaurants a bout 20 years ago in college, so after asking Tia a couple of questions, we decided not to keep expressing our shock/dissatisfaction. We spent around $350 with tip, but will not be returning to risk another botched celebration - so tragic, since the first trip was so divine!

   We eat at Cafe Navarre every time we come to South Bend. We absolutely love it and highly recommend it! The food is outstanding, and the service is top-notch. We are huge fans!

   We enjoyed a celebratory dinner at Cafe Navarre on Notre Dame’s graduation weekend. The restaurant was packed! And even being that incredibly busy, the food and drinks were outstanding! Moreover, the service was timely, friendly, accommodating and professional from the minute we arrived til the minute we left. The vibe in this beautiful space (a former bank) is fantastic. Yes, it was a little loud…. Because there was a lot of joy in the room!! 5 stars all the way around! Looking forward to returning.

   Jodi and Tina did an amazing job making sure we had everything we needed, and they made my birthday feel special! I highly recommend the gnocchi and the lavender cheesecake. The atmosphere and food was amazing :)

    We visited South Bend to attend the Yo-Yo Ma concert at the Morris Performing Arts. Navarre was located right down the street. From the time we walked in until the time we left, everything was perfect. Service was exceptional, the food was fantastic and our dining experience was top notch!!! Thanks you!

    It was my first time dining at Cafe Navarre and I was thrilled with the food and the service. We began by sharing the tender mushrooms arancini , followed by beet salad. Our entrees were PEI mussels in a flavorful tomato broth..so lovely & a generously sized noodle dish with fresh vegetables and shrimp leaving plenty for a “to go” bag. But the very best feature of the evening was our waiter whose name I do not have. He was a helpful, fun, knowledgeable and patient young black man attending IUSB. Try to clone him!!!

    My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner before going to the nearby theatre after. Our server was sensitive to getting our orders placed so that we would not be late for the theater. Her timing was perfect with each course and she was attentive without hovering. She was also knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful suggestions.

    We enjoy Artisan and have been at Cafe Navarre two years ago. Our return trip was very good. Everything was as remembered. Our server Leanne was ok, but we felt rushed. Everything was done in an hour. Was not offered another drink and felt “turn and burn”. We didn’t ask for the check and it was presented rather quickly - kind of a diner feel. Very good food - Gnocchi, French onion soup, steak and frites all tasty. Super ambiance.

    Our party of 3 (all vegetarians with additional cheese restrictions) had a great dinner experience in the beautiful, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The vegan entree, Spring Stirfry with udon noodles, was delicious, rich and flavorful. Our server did an excellent job of explaining which other menu items would work with our restrictions. We ordered a big plate of truffle fries for the table (with cheese left off--thanks!!) which were delicious, hot and a real treat!! In addition to the fries, there were other vegetarian sides, and we had the curried cauliflower---so tasty. Service was very professional and attentive, but absolutely not intrusive or "too" friendly. As vegetarians, we really appreciated the menu options and the knowledgeable server's guidance. All of this along with Cafe Navarre's ambiance made for a great evening :)

    Service was flawless. Not overbearing, personable. We both had walleye. It was perfect, as were the potatoes and green beans. I had the Napa Valley chardonnay. In a word - DELICIOUS. My wife had the lavender cheese cake. It was top notch. I had the keylime tort for desert. Very good but big enough for 2.
