Cafe Miro Ratings and Reviews
We have been coming to Cafe Miro for decades and we always enjoy Chef Kobayashi French cooking skill . His GM Ryan always makes our evening enjoyable with impeccable attention to details & Service ; especially since we always come with a large group and eager to finish on time for our next group activities after dinner.
The menu is very good and always with a uniform excellent standard . The only suggestion to add is to have the menu includes 2 to 3 monthly specials ( and be a bit more adventuresome & creative in this regard to show the Mind of the Chef ; that will be the difference between a very good chef versus a great chef ! )
I've always enjoyed coming here for special occasions. This last visit for a birthday that fell on New Year's Eve was a little disappointing with the 5 course menu. First off, we mentioned that my bf doesn't like wasabi, which was listed as a ingredient for one of the main courses, so no wasabi sauce for him. Then we discovered that we had 2 different menus with different main course options. Waiter explained that the lamb was only going to be served if they ran out of an entree. So why did we have the menu?!? He went in to check and told us we can order the lamb. Great!
The first course that came out was a soba noodle. Not knowing that there were wasabi in it, my bf got a mouthful of the wasabi sauce and ruined his first impression of the place. It took us at least 4-5 minutes to flag down someone to let them know. They ended up substituting with a vichyssoise soup. I understand that our waiter might be new, but he should at least know what he was serving. The second course was brought out by a different server. There was no explanation of what we had on the plate with 5-6 various bite sized items. It was a guessing game for a couple of them.
Bf got the steak without the wasabi sauce, and I had the lamb for the main course. Steak was good per bf, but the lamb was delicious! I think that was the highlight of the meal for sure. We closed the restaurant and they were nice to not say anything about them being closed.
I would definitely come back and will assume that they were slammed for New Years Eve.
The moment you arrive at this charming neighborhood restaurant your met with warm greetings. The service compliments the genuine nature of this wonderful French café.
Food -- tasty. Attentiveness -- enough but not rushed. Enjoyable time. We will definitely return.
Even though it was a simple menu tonight, food was very good! Taste, prepared right, but the service was not on point tonight. Could it be not so experienced servers? Staff was triple that of a normal night, but lacked in many areas of service. But still, it's Christmas Eve.
Cafe Miro is one of the best hidden gems in Kaimuki Town. The Manager, Ryan and wait staff were all so accommodating and treated us all so kindly. We were celebrating my husband’s Birthday and our Friend’s Anniversary tonight. They made a special personalized menu and Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary written in Chocolate!! Sooo sweet of them!! The Food, Drinks, Customer Service is so Amazing and off the charts!! I would highly recommend everyone to come try this Restaurant!! It’s one of the best in town!!
I visited this restaurant 4 years ago and enjoyed the dinner very much, they continuous gave me an enjoyable dinner. Will return to this place again when I return to Honolulu next time. The only disappointed surprise in compare 4 years ago; they do not offer BYO options; even their web-site say so; now they are charging USD 25.00 for one bottle. I hope they can update their information accordingly
Very reliable menu with all selections very good and satisfying.
I had the sole which was a bit "bony" but the meat was tender and flavorful. My spouse had the seafood salad as always. Very good portion and very tasty. Also had the raw oysters for an appetizer which were excellent. Service was attentive and all and all a very enjoyable meal with friends.
The structure of the menu is both unnecessarily complicated and annoying. We wanted one of the $35 three course menus and, because we wanted to have Pate as a starter, we went outside the rules. The result was we were charged by item making the dinner ridiculously expensive for what it was.
If you listen to the wait staff, they spend a massive amount of time explaining the menu. That doesn’t achieve a great deal.
Bye, bye until you get sensible on the menu.
You know... for a restaurant to survive in Kaimuki for 20 years at the very top of the restaurant food – chain, it must be doing something, many things, very right!
Flawless and extremely knowledgeable service
Exquisite and exclusive recipes resulting in over – the – top food.
Worth every penny…
We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Cafe Miro last week. I let them know in advance we were celebrating a birthday and they surprised us throughout the evening with special touches. Our servers were attentive and personable and definitely added to our wonderful experience. The food was delicious and creative. Perfectly seasoned and prepared. Went with the waiters recommendations for the braised pork ribs appetizer and opah in almond sauce and we were very happy. We will definitely come back!
The restaurant offers both ala carte and table d'hote with three choices in the latter depending on the number of courses to be consumed. Wine list is smallish, but corkage is $25 per bottle which seems the prevailing corkage fee in Honolulu.
Food is exquisitely prepared and deliciously sauced. The foie gras donbori (an add-on) is terrific and (at $17 , I think) well worth adding to the usual menu offerings. Service was prompt and friendly.
We both had a steak as the main course -- the tenderloin and the larger rib eye -- both offered in reasonably sized portions and pan fried. Excellent preparation.
The only drawback is the oilcloth tablecloths (as contrasted to linen) but that's a very minor item. Good, dependable neighborhood restaurant.
Staff was super nice and attentive, but not intrusive. Food was delicious and timed well so that courses appeared at the right time. Presentation was very nice with the food appearing appealing. Atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. We very much enjoyed it as a couple.
