Even though we had made reservations, they were overbooked when we arrived and were told that it would be a 20 minute wait. 40 minutes go by and I go back to the hostess, only to find out reservation now can't be found, but they put us to the front of the list to get the next available table. The patrons were packed in tight, but the server did a nice job and the food was great.
Excellent food and service. Atmosphere was charming. It was difficult to choose what to order because everything on the menu looked wonderful. Will visit again.
we love this place -but probably should not have booked on Valentine's Day. they way overbooked.
people waited 45-60 minutes after the reservation time to get seated. Our reservation was at 8:30 and we were seated at 9:00. and the tables were so close together it was like we were dining with the couple next to us. We still love the food and the ambiance - although they had a special Valentine's menu too - we should have checked before coming - that's on us - but they didn't have our favorites on the menu.
We'll be back but on a random night.
Decent spot. Has been for years. Had an 8:30 on an important night, but still had a 45 min wait. That’s just not good.
My husband and I had such a special evening at Cafe Ena! The food was delicious (the ceviche was superb - it was uniquely served in a cream sauce, the Argentine steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection, my Chilean Sea Bass was the best I’ve had.). Our waitperson Nico was helpful and attentive, especially impressive considering the Valentines crowd. Upon leaving, they even treated me with a long-stem red rose. We will definitely be back. What a hidden gem!
Dine on Valentine's Day 2020 and we were delighted with the overall experience Cafe Ena had to offer.
A very nice neighborhood restaurant. We were there on Valentines Day and even though the place was packed, the service was very good. The food was average, but again I am sure the kitchen was really busy. We had the halibut and surf and turf. This was our first visit and we will go back when maybe it won’t be so crazy busy.
Never going back on Valentines Day! Too many tables on top of each other. Rushed service. Elbow to elbow. We had 6:30 reservations but didn’t get seated until close to 7:00. Usually it is our favorite restaurant. The food is great!
This is a great restaurant even on valentine's night the food and service exceeded my expectations and I am quite picky about where I spend and food preparation, I had the sea bass, my wife had the scallops, I cannot wait to get back on an average evening and see how great they operate when they are not trying to turn tables in rapid fashion. Great job by Café Ena staff!
Café Ena once again met all our expectations. Their food is exceptional and different. Exciting side vegetables and salads. Priced at great value. We had never been on Valentine's Day and the rose for the ladies when leaving was a nice surprise. We had not been there for a year or more and were happily satisfied with everything. Still great food and great service.
Wonderful food, service and ambience. We'll go back again.
My favorite restaurant in Twin Cities. Always satisfying
Excellent service and food! Would definitely go back. A little cold but it was below zero that day. I would highly recommend.
I usually have a great experience with Cafe Ena. This time, I felt rushed, and the entree portion was very small. It seems like things have been scaled back since my last visit.
Always excellent and consistent. Seating is VERY tight and crowded. No conversation privacy whatsoever. Food is always tasty and excellently prepared.
Fabulous food with complex flavors and great ingredients. Top notch service. I’ll be back.
All five of us are seniors with one lady at age 95. When we arrived there was NO spot from the street to the sidewalk that was not covered with sheer, slippery ice. We had a terrible time walking the 2 feet of ice, with the city bus waiting patiently behind us. When we went in and told the waiter, he just shrugged his shoulders. Leaving was just as bad, and I wound up falling on the ice trying to help my 95-yr-old friend into our car. I could have broken my hip! There was no excuse the restaurant could not have removed all the snow and ice on its sidewalks, or at least be apologetic about it. We will not return.
I had lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in 25 years. We had great food, a friendly server who really looked after us, and lots of time to enjoy our long lunch.
The young man that helped us and was waiting on the whole restaurant was a fine young gentleman. Did an outstanding job and was very professional. I had the Mofongo and it was really good. We ordered the Appetizer our waiter recommended and that was great too. My wife thought her sandwich was just average but we both would return to eat again and will. As we were leaving our waiter recommended a small plate joint they opened recently and we are going there next. Over all 10 out of 10!!!
Has been our favorite place for years! The food is incredible . Comfortable seating.
We have a wonderful evening...perfect in every way...and we have already recommended Cafe Ena to several friends!!!
Food was delicious- server seemed new-
The food and service were excellent with very attractive meal presentations. Sea bass special and the rack of lamb were outstanding. Only drawbacks are lack of parking and the dining area's smaller size which makes for a somewhat crowded and noisy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and patronize again.
The food as usual was excellent and the waitstaff were excellent also. Just slightly spendy for a neighborhood restaurant.
My party of 6 had a delightful dining experience at Ena. Each delicious dish was skillfully paired with a wine. We especially enjoyed the bouillabaisse, but the lamb ragout, and minestrone were equally delicious. Service was attentive and water glasses never went below half. Hector elaborated on each dish which gave us insight into his vast international culinary skills. An excellent meal with great wine and excellent service. Can’t wait to go back!
I think my 5-star rating of everything about this place says it all.
Fine but not amazing. Nothing too special food-wise, and our server was almost too attentive, making us a bit uncomfortable and making it harder to carry on a conversation. Nothing bad, and not worth a negative review, but I'm not sure we'll go back.
Food is good but overpriced. Appetizer and main course were brought almost at the same time, which did not help to enjoy the cooking. Service was a bit cold.
On the other hand the menu is great and the place lovely.
Our server Renè was fantastic. We had a first timer with us for dinner & he made sure she had a great experience from beginning to end. Our bottle of spanish Tempranillo was very good as was the gauc starter. My quinoa crusted halibut was cooked perfectly & the quinoa was just a thin layer on one side which I liked a lot. (I hate when a menu says the fish is ‘crusted’ & then it shows up basically breaded) Our guest’s scallops were also done perfectly & she said they were some of the best she’s had. My wife had her usual - the only vegetarian entree on the menu. Wish there were 1 or 2 more veg options but she still eats that one every time & loves it.
Finished with churros which were freshly made & served with little sides of chocolate sauce & a cinnamon-like ice cream. Another great experience at Ena, love this restaurant!
Not as good as usual: they were out of 2 beers (and there's not a big selection anyway) and, although there was hardly anyone there when we arrived at 4:00, our waiter seemed to be busy elsewhere much of the time. The vegetable empanadas were not good: bland and wet. The guacamole was excellent, as always. Happy hour, and most of us chose appetizers for our meal: everything, except the vegetable empanadas, was very good. One of our group chose a steak, and said he was happy he did. For dessert we shared creme brulee that was delicious! Our favorite waiter at Cafe Ena is Colin: he's funny, on top of everything, and very helpful with describing the food/specials and anything else we ask him.
Lovely dinner with terrific service. They do not serve liquor, just beer and wine. It’s fine for me but I wanted to give the heads up! The salmon and the steak were fantastic. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to everyone. A neighborhood gem!
The Chilean sea bass, halibut and chips and guacamole were absolutely amazing. Service was really good too. They were very busy so everything took quite a bit longer than expected, so that wasn’t great. Other than that, it was perfect.
Our most recent dinner here was disappointing and not up to the level of service or food we've had before. Salads didn't arrive until we were well into our entrees. The fish tasted like it'd been in the freezer too long. The pasta dish lacked much flavor. We hope this was just an off night.
Excellent food and service.
There was a problem wit the service (poor) and my tip was somehow increased from 15% to 26.5% without my knowledge. Last time I will go to Cafe Ena. Boo
We were all extremely happy with our choices at Cafe Ena Friday night. The service was excellent and meals very tasty. We will definitely be back. Love having great restaurants like Cafe Ena in our South Minneapolis neighborhood. Stop by and support, you’ll be happy you did!
Owner Ruiz was the chef. Wonderful food for lunch and quiet enough to talk. We will be back soon!
In the past, summers, outdoors with Sangria has been our pleasure at Cafe Ena. Just had a a cold winter dinner. All of our meals were DELICIOUS. Jesus, our waiter, was top shelf. Be sure you ask for him.
Excellent Latin fusion menu. The dinner exceeded our expectations, especially the restaurant was not personally recommended to us. Low profile in a quiet neighborhood setting added to offering a lovely relaxed experience.
Wonderful neighborhood gem! Excellent food and ambiance is excellent for friends or a date.
