Join us on Bastille Day, Wednesday July 14th for a celebration with music, drinks and French and Spanish food!
As of 2020 we have merged our two restaurants Café Bastille and B44 and are serving both menus off of our 44 Belden Lane location.
We are now open for indoor and outdoor dining at full capacity.
Our outdoor patio is covered and heated but if you choose to dine outdoors make sure to bring warm clothes since SF weather can be unpredictable.
We can accommodate large groups for any type of event, call us to inquire.
Reservations are made via Open Table or over the phone and walk-ins are also welcome.
When you make a reservation you will be given the choice to reserve a table outdoors or standard which means indoors.
We will continue to offer takeout and delivery via DoorDash, UberEats or Grubhub or by calling us directly.
For the latest news and updates continue to check our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Excellent menuS (...choose from both the Cafe Bastille or “44” (Catalan) menus. Jean was an exceptional waiter. Outside dining for lunch was a real pleasure. The brussel sprouts and mussels were big hits...as was the dessert: crema catalana.
I took a dear friend out for her birthday on Bastille Day. The restaurant was able to accommodate us a before our actual reservation. The host and waitress were so nice. Food was delicious. She even got a bday sparkler w/ her dessert. And My date was even able to sing La Vie en Rose. The crowd also joined in. Overall a beautiful evening at Cafe Bastille.
Am French and would not recommend this restaurant if you want a decent food!
A wonderful Bastille Day celebration. Music, decorations, delicious traditional French food. Superb service. The rabbit, duck confit, coq au vin and steak were fabulous.
Celebrating Bastille Day with a late lunch at a very fun cafe..
Delicious food, efficient service. Belden lane itself looked a little sad; but understandable just emerging from a pandemic.
The food was good especially the French onion soup. My husband really enjoyed the rabbit. Service was excellent. Not many patrons but probably because we are all still recovering from COVID. We would definitely eat here again
I have been going to Cafe Bastille throughout the past decades. But this was the first time after pandemic and I had invited a colleague from the Midwest. We had EXCELLENT food, very very good service and no one rushed us even though it was lunch hour (the end of lunch hour). I had the Cafe Bastille salad -- and would order it again today and the next day and the next after that. My guest also loved his food. Viva la France en San Francisco!
I love cafe Bastille, I’ve been going there for years and I’m happy to see they were able to join forces with B44.
Solid place every time. Glad they survived COVID!
It was great to visit our old favorite in SF again. Food was decent. During Covid-19, they shared their outside space with another restaurant called B44 nearby.
Food was amazing! Everything from the bread and salad to the dinner and dessert was perfectly prepared and delicious! 10/10!
It is always a pleasant experience to eat delicious food in company of good friends.
Charming alley restaurant, full of young people embracing post covid life. Food was great, generous portions, great value.
Friendly service, great atmosphere, delicious food, good value. As French as it gets.
When I made the reservation through Open Table there was a drop down menu to indicate if this was a special occasion. It was - my husbands 84th birthday. The food and service at Cafe Bastille was good but at no time did the hostess, Sabrina, or the wait staff mention or congratulate my husband on this event. What is the point of asking if no acknowledgement is going to be made? -Donna Rand
The food and service were excellent. Both the rabbit dish and salmon were delicious. Our servers were professional and very efficient. Great to be inside this restaurant once again!
Same excellent food as always. New location shared with B44 is not as nice, but it was comfortable enough.
The food was very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Liked the back alley of the beaten path feel ...The food was average thou at best. Clean and a Fun experience but not 5 star or even 4 star food.
Poor excuse for French Food. No flavor no seasoning very bland.
Always great service and great food... my favorite go to place for outdoor dining! They do now also offer indoor dining!
it was a lil girl’s night out and it was perfect!
Great food, safe distance outdoor dining and Sabina is wonderful ! This is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco!
Great staff and service. The food was delicious and the only drawback was that it was surprisingly noisy dining outside. But the patio tent was comfortable and you can't beat the location. If there is one thing that Covid has improved, it would be street parking in downtown S.F.
Food and service was very good. Tables were a little close for social distancing. They have an enclosed tent which is front of their sister restaurant which is at the restaurant down the alley at B44. You can order from both restaurants menu's. They could use a few more heaters to warm the patio.
Dinner in the semi-enclosed outdoor patio is comfortable and pleasant. Usually not windy there in Belden Alley. You can order from both the Cafe Bastille menu and the B44 Catalan Bistro menu from next door. For tapas, the baby octopus with roasted fennel was delicious. Service is friendly.
This was the second day they were open. Two restaurants combined. They are really trying. Go and support them. The food is good. The service was really good.
Always the best.
Food and service are excellent..
I used to really love their food, but was there for lunch yesterday and wow - it has really gone downhill. The onion soup was ok, not stellar. I had a Croque Monsieur that had no flavor - like zero. It was my friend's birthday so we shared a slice of their in-house made flourless chocolate torte - which also apparently was sugarless as it was not sweet at all and tasted old. It crumbled when pierced with a fork and tasted like paste. The service was friendly and sweet, but it just couldn't make up for mediocre food.
I have always had a good meal at Cafe Bastille. The menu is very good and has been a stable staple for me for some time. Eating outdoors was always one of the attractions there even befoe Covid, so I am glad to revisit.
We had a very nice time at Cafe Bastille. It was so enjoyable to go out to dinner again! The waitstaff were very friendly and efficient and followed safe practices. The food was delicious! I usually bring half of my entree home but it was so good I ate it all.
The food was good, but the tables were entirely too close together. We were so close to the groups next to us we could touch them. Made us feel not very comfortable. Won't be coming back under it is safe to be that close to others.
Excellent food and service. Since the outdoor space is shared, yoy can choose from a Spanish tapas menu or a French one. We had food from both and it was delicious
A great outdoor dining spot on a warm fall evening. Service was outstanding and restaurant offered classic French cuisine.
I had a delightful lunch at Cafe Bastille yesterday. They had a very extensive menu and I ordered the paella which was delicious and enough for two people. The service was top notch also. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The service at this place is next level. The gentleman bussing tables was so extraordinary I gave him $20 just because it was amazing to see how fast and professional he was. Will be back to this place. Keep up the good work!
Excellently prepared dishes. Good value. What more can I say?
