Food and service was fantastic. However, as we rose from our table to leave a mouse ran out from under our feet. When we mentioned it to the staff the response was ambivalence
In the past Bymark was worth the price however this time the service was poor, unacceptable for a restaurant like Bimark. It started when I arrived at the hostess stand a few minutes early for my 5:00pm reservation that I booked on Open Table and they could not find the reservation and fumbled around trying different things to locate my reservation. When it was found, they directed me upstairs to the bar area since they had not reserved a table for 2 as I had fully expected. When I asked for a table for our business dinner, the server looked challenged as to if/how they could accommodate my request. My guest chimed in that he was OK with the lounge which solved their problem but it was awkward to say the least.
We ordered fried calamari (yum) only to have French Fries delivered to the table. They looked good and could have been an honest mistake if it was an isolated incident. When the calamari arrived it was grilled not fried - two very different things. For each exchange, the servers responded with an element of surprise and confusion as to why we weren't accepting the order. In each interaction we had to clarify with both the server and the waitress that the order was not accurate and needed to clarify what we had ordered.
As the host of the business dinner, it was embarrassing that we had to put so much effort into getting a table I had legitimately reserved and to get our order correct. That is the bare minimum for any restaurant, let alone a high-end restaurant.
On the whole, the service did not justify the steep bill for a two-person business meeting that turned into a casual bar meal.
I went with my friends for a birthday celebration and friend lunch gathering. Food was good and service was great. This place is great for business lunch. I feel we were slightly under-dressed, as people around us are all in business formal. Other than that, it was great lunch experience. I will definitely go back next time.
We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Bymark. The food was outstanding and our waitress Briana was phenomenal. She was attentive and catered to our every need. It was a pleasure to interact with her.
The patio where we were seated was perfect for the occasion.....romantic and European in style. The ambience was quiet and relaxing and made it easy for us to converse with one another.
The food and wine were a real treat for the palate.
Extremely pricy, few patrons on a Friday night therefore very private but lack the ‘buzz’ of a great restaurant.
The food was well cooked and the ingredients were fresh, but the portions are ‘ok’. If you order ‘chops’ you need to order sides as many other restaurants do nowadays.
Excellent appetizers-very international appetizer menu and service!
Food came too fast (even for a business lunch). I wanted a healthy meal so ordered a salad with chicken. The "healthy" choice left me feeling like I had just eaten a plate of french fries.
We went for summerlicious lunch @$33 per person. I have to say the food is not that good. We had three ppl and each order a different item on the menu so we can taste it all. The best is the tartare and the lamb shoulder. Everything else was not at the standard of a $$ rated restaurant. I could probably eat better at a cheaper restaurant with $33. The patio hostess had an attitude of “I don’t give a sh**”. Very disappointed.
Bymark was our third and last Summerlicious 2018 restaurant. If medals had been awarded, it get the gold. The silver is a very good but distant second. Our meals choices were all exceptional: the plating of our mains were works of art, and as for the taste: so close to the Homeric Ideal. Bymark's patio is a pleasing paradox: spaciousness in a canyon of office towers. And while I'm awarding gold medals, the service was platinum. Our server was charming, gracious and set a pace over our three courses that was perfection in its timing. No dish arrived too early and none had has tapping our fingers waiting for its arrival. Bymark is not just the best of Summerlicious 2018; it may very well be the best of every Summerlicious dining outing we've had.
Was during Sumerlicious. Food was excellent. Very tasty & filling. Would recommend.
Always a great experience! The food and service were impeccable.
Summerlicious menu is ok. The veggies are a bit salty.
The sous vide short ribs are a must order for sure!
From presentation to taste. Everything was immaculate. The service was great, the restaurant beautiful and staff exceptional.
There was a table of older ladies beside us and they INCREDIBLY INCREDIBLY INCREDIBLY loud and laughing out of control, yet NONE of the servers bothered to let them know they were being ridiculously loud. So, my wife and I decided to leave since the noise level was simply unacceptable. I sat in my seat waving my hand looking for a server for 15 minutes before I had to walk to the front myself, ask for a server to hand me my bill, and only then was I able to pay and leave the dump. Thanks for nothing.
I had been wanting to go to Bymark for quite some time. With SUMMERLICIOUS, it was a good excuse to go and try it out. I went with my boyfriend and our son for lunch. Long story short, the food was ok, not great, and certainly not worth the price tag. It was such a disappointment. Our server was great, but that was really the only plus. To me, it was not worth the price tag. Will not be going back, unfortunately.
Both my friend and prefer Nymark rather than Canoe, food, portion and service are far better during Summerlicious.
Food was great. Service pretty much didnt exhist. After being seated at our table waited about 20 minutes and no waiter came by to take our order for drinks or anything. The restaurants dining room was not even full. During the course of our meal we ordered 2 bottles of wine. Both of which the bus boy had to put the order in to our waiter for us since he was no where to be seen. Mcdonalds has better service than this restaurant.
Overall food and services was very good. Server could have took a little bit of time to walk us through the menus as none of us had been there before, however she was still very nice and was well balanced with checking up on us and giving us time to enjoy. Food was fantastic; originally we went to take advantage of the “summerlicious” menu but opted out as we looked at the full menu. Overall a very good experience. I will definitely visit this restaurant again!
The food was perfect. Our server was wonderful. Big however coming...
Nowhere in this restaurant is there assistance for those with physical disabilities.
My mother who has limited walking mobility had to walk down 2 HUGE staircases to our table.
Nobody even offered to help nor offer an upstairs table option. A restaurant of this caliber needs to accommodate those with mobility issues. After dinner the only way out was either climbing the HUGE staircases again, or walking a fair distance to an escalator in the path to take her up the floor. The Host staff appeared not to care and watched as my Mom struggled. A real shame because the food and atmosphere is outstanding.
Good menu and presentation but need a better seasoning of tuna dish that we had.
Normal Black tea for $7 is way too expensive.
We had summerlicious dinner. We had venison carpaccio and tuna sashimi as a app, burger and scallop as main, lemon meringue and choc bar as dessert. Overall, it was okay. Nothing out of ordinary, yet it is on the expensive side considerong its value
Always fantastic. Service is impeccable and the food inspired and perfectly presented. Loved it.
Lunch Summerlicous. Everything was just average. Service indifferent. Plate put before us with no explanation or eye contact by busboys. Food generally underseasoned. The lamb suvie was delicious but the accompanying dumplings bland
The summerlicious food is sooooooo bad. And I am so supreised. I will not come back for sure.
We asked for a patio, which was confirmed to us a day before. While we arrived, to our surprise we were told that patio is fully booked. Not nice, given it was important to us as we celebrated a special event.
We went for Summerlicious because it is so highly rated and a bit too pricey for an average lunch/dinner. The menu choices were VERY selective. I understand that many restaurants only offer a few choices for Summerlicious (I go annually & I don't live in Toronto), but the mains were Tuna, Beef with pasta & Lamb. I found this to be very disappointing. I don't eat 2 of the 3 so my only option was the beef pasta. I loved the watermelon & tomato (there were 2 other choices there that were ceviche & a soup) & also the desserts (all 3 were amazing), but the mains were as I said limited & disappointing. I didn't like the beef pasta much. Although the pasta was good and well cooked (al dente) the beef part tasted a bit like a pot roast/beef stew to top it. Too heavy for lunch & not enough flavour. I looked over the regular menu and I wish there had been other choices made instead (even if limited to only 3 options).
The restaurant staff were super attentive and nice. There was a long hair on the table, which they promptly removed when asked. Our waiter was very helpful with the wine selections also, even offering samples and suggested pairings. The only reso I could get was for 1:30, which is odd because the place was like a ghost town when we got there. There were only about 3 other tables being serviced at the time. I feel like they were a bit pushy to get us to leave as we were lingering over coffee and dessert, because they brought the bill & a machine together while we were still finishing up. I'm glad I tried it, but it certainly wasn't my favourite Summerlicious experience.
Its our second time there. Good food, but the service wad fair.the waitress pushed us to finish. Was too stressed. Tried to take the plate few times before we finished. It was like she didn't want us there.
I went to the restaurant for summerlicious. The appetizer and main course were great. I had scallops for the main course and they were cooked well. However I do not like the dessert. The restaurant is quiet and comfort place.
Amazing dining experience! The food was very good but the service was beyond perfect! What an elegant dining experience.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere. One of my favorite place, never let me down.
I gave this restaurant a 5 star review in the past on several sites but I am sorry to say that I will no longer recommend here. We went there the other night for a family event. Last year we had a bad experience there but given we had liked it before, we felt it was a bad night. All restaurants can have that. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
First issue, ALL 3 of the steaks my party had were rawer than we ordered. My medium well was not pink inside, it was red and not just the center. My boyfriend's well done was the same like mine and my other family member's steak was not medium as she ordered. Second issue, the manager, Ryan, was argumentative and unpleasant.
He didn't come over until we insisted even though the waitress admitted he knew of what had happened.. Third, our waitress had a habit of not hearing what we asked for and not being nice about the issues we had. The final straw was when we received the bill we saw we were charged for BREAD. They used to have wonderful bread there and it was free. Suddenly the bread changed and we were charged for it.
They did discount our bill (not significantly) due to our insistence but it was an unpleasant experience and still cost enough that it should have been a good one. Don't go there if you like your food done right or if you have issues being charged for bread which other restaurants give for free.
Absolutely fabulous evening. Food was fantastic and the service was even better. Even though it was a Friday night we had a corner booth and could continue on a conversation at a reasonable level.
Lara took care of our table and did a fantastic job. The food was just perfect !!!!
You have to have the burger - absolutely the best.
The ambience in the patio is pleasing despite being in a downtown courtyard.
Tyler was an excellent server and gave excellent suggestions.
We will definitely return some day.
I was very disappointed. Wanted to take a very important group of customers to one of the nicest restaurants in Toronto and ended up in a basement restaurant. No view. Service was okay and food was okay but the price was ridiculous. Would not go back again!
Food and atomosphere was very pleasant and enjoyable. Service was exceptionally good. A must try is the burger.
Nice evening. Glad we opted to dine on the patio ...
