Went for Monday night Lobster Night Specials. Everything as always was delicious. It would be helpful to have wet naps or hot towels available. It is messy trying to remove the shells from the seafood. Overall, we love coming here for dinner.
The service was great and the food was good. You can’t ask for more.
Not happy about having to wait nearly half an hour even with a reservation. The service was great, we loved the bartender. The food was good but not something I'd go out of my way to get. The price is right so I'd go more if I lived closer
Once again our dining experience was over the top. The food was delicious. We ordered their calamari ❤ as an appetizer with crab cake, salad and vegs. Out of this world. And we didnt walk away super full. Just the right amount. Thank you. We will be back
Really good food, great value for the price. We had a very attentive waitress who came to check on us several times throughout our meal. She heard several of us talking about my birthday and surprised me with ice cream with a candle! Great service- will definitely return soon.
The restaurant staff we’re accommodating and gave us space in an area that wasn’t as loud as another area. The restroom was poorly maintained.
We could not be more pleased with our lunchtime experience, celebrating the birthdays of our senior relatives. Our server Shannon was the most professional and pleasant server we’ve encountered anywhere in a long time. And the food was so delicious and generously portioned. The only downside is the noise level. Not sure it’s acoustics (ceiling, floor, wall) or just that there are so many patrons there at any given time. Conversation was difficult but we rose above because of the occasion.
Awesome crab cakes and great service we will be back soon.
Loved the food for brunch lots of options just wish served some of the shrimp warm instead of on ice
Unbelievable Saturday and Sunday Brunch......reservations highly recommended if not a must.
Delicious and high end brunch! Really love the atmosphere as well!
Once again, By The Docks delivered. The Cake and Shrimp dinner were excellent. We will be back, no doubt.
The food was amazing and fresh!! The service was prompt and everything was timed perfectly. The hostesses could smile a bit more and be a bit more personable .
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME, I WILL BE BACK.
I had a wonderful first visit. The food was great and so was the price. We went to surprise/celebrate my husbands b-day. He really enjoyed the food! The only complaint I have is when I reserved the seat online, they asked to type in the occasion. I typed in the occasion for the visit but I wasn't sure why they needed that information. But overall it was a great experience.
Lobster special was delicious. Love their house Italian dressing. Our waiter was very attentive and on spot with it all. We asked for no bread and then came back to see if we wanted croutons in our salad, great judgement. Love this place!
Once again, By The Docks surpassed our expectations. We had the calamari appetizer which was delicious and we both had the cake ( unbelievably delicious) and shrimp which were unfortunately way overcooked. But we ate them anyway because we were hungry.
Had reservations for 5pm. We arrived at 5 and was seated right away. Service was adequate. Great setting for just dining out. Crab Imperial was a very generous portion. Date had the Broiled Seafood Platter and said it was wonderful. Dock Punch taste great. Would definitely go there again.
First my table was not ready....food was cold....server brought back wrong food...table was not for 6 people at all...smh....buffet had burnt food....did not like it at all!!!
As Always the Food and Service was Fantastic, the crab cakes are the best we've had any where around. Everything we've got from here is awesome. Definitely recommend By The Docks in Essex to everyone
Would recommend measures be taken to ensure that food is served hot, especially soups and items like baked potato. Loved the stuffed mushrooms!! Wished the combination seafood platter had a fried option. Overall satisfied and will return!
This was my second time for brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. I loved our waitress Caity who was definitely on point & made sure we were taken care of. I will definitely be back soon.
The food was on point. Tasty and huge portions. Price was reasonable.
Jade was our server and she was very pleasant. We were just about the last table there on Valentine’s Day and she was not hasty about service. Highly recommended
The evening my wife and dined at the restaurant there appeared to be some issue in the kitchen area because the dining room was a little smoke filled. In addition to that we were sitting extremely close to another couple’s table overhearing their conversation. Excluding those issues the food was great!
Server was nice. Drink refills were slow but it was also Valentine’s Day, so busy night. There was smoke throughout the restaurant. Food was good but came out lukewarm. Not hot. I’d give my visit a C grade.
Always have a great meal there.I think the staff is so sweet and kind hearted. Will always go back.
This is my wife's favorite place, so it was, of course, her choice for Valentine's Day. We were fortunate in that Valentine's Day was a weekday and that we made early reservations: thus, no wait or crowd. As usual the crab-cakes were large, chunky, and seasoned perfectly (for us). Sides, at this point, were almost immaterial. As a sugar addict, I also appreciate the large selection of large desserts. Best outing we've had together since returning north (?) last spring. Must admit: had to take half the crab-cake home -- lunchtime stomach not as large as dinner's.
Great food at reasonable prices. Friendly atmosphere.
I wish I could recall our server's name. She was awesome! The food at By the Docks is great and they have nightly specials throughout the week. We went on Tuesday (pasta night). Crab cakes are also on special on Tuesdays. I would recommend the spaghetti with meat sauce over the spaghetti with sausage. Polish sausage should never be mixed with spaghetti; spaghetti should include only Italian sausage! It was very disappointing unless you prefer hot dogs mixed into your spaghetti sauce. The meat sauce on the other hand was very good. By the Docks should also consider additional pasta options such as a capellini or angel hair. The crab cakes were large and tasty. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.
Apparently it doesn’t pay to have a reservation. The greeter/ hostess seated a two party walk in that came in after us then offered us upstairs seating that was crammed in the corner
The food was excellent and the waitress was very good. Never had to worry about an empty glass.
Everything was great, but I think if you make a reservation at a certain time, that the table should be ready at that time, not watch others go in front of you, while you wait for a reserved table, not sure the word reserved is in their vocabulary?
I was very disappointed with the brunch. I messaged the restaurant with my concerns & did receive a response. Hopefully this was just a bad day & not how things are generally. I will go back & order off the menu instead of the brunch buffet.
Our waitress was the best ever...she was as nice as she could be and madfe sure you had everything you needed. Crab cakes were the best ever and sides as well.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. The food was DELICIOUS.
Great service and great food. I always enjoy there restaurant week menu. I will have to go on a normal day for dinner.
This was my first but this definitely won’t be my last the food was excellent everything was good now I want to do my mother’s birthday brunch here so I am going to start planning that
The place is located in Essex. So, that was quite a drive from Baltimore. The parking lot was almost full Saturday early afternoon. Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait in the dark, crowded foyer for ~20 minutes (after coming inside from the front porch where a man was smoking!). I thought you had to be at least 25 ft from the building to smoke? We intended to get the restaurant week special of double crab cakes, appetizer, and dessert. But that was $35.18 while the unlimited brunch, which runs until 2pm, was around $17. The crowd was there for the brunch. So we opted for brunch, which meant we didn't get to taste the crab cakes. The brunch was plentiful. Food ranged from fish, roast beef (dry), bacon (nice and thick), sausage, scrambled eggs (set too long), chipped beef (mostly white sauce), french toast, pancakes, fruit, syrup, oysters, shrimp, mussels, cocktail sauce, mini napoleons, sweet bread, rice pudding, buns, etc. The food was filling, though at the end of the buffet nothing new comes out and food has set for quite a while. Staff appeared to be very busy. The receptionist was stressed between phone calls and seating arrangements. Someone needs to clean her filthy computer screen (very unappetizing looking with all those greasy finger prints). The manager was constantly going back and forth between the receptionist and the dining hall to scope and clean tables. Our waitress was overworked with so many tables needing service. She was hard to get a hold of for more water and to pay the check. Ordered food seemed very inconsistent. Broccoli came out olive green (over cooked). Some crab cakes came out perfectly formed. Others looks smashed. French fries fell out of the little silver holder onto the serving trays and had to be thrown out. Thus the customer got one or 2 less fries than they should have. Customers drawn to this place certainly keep it busy.
I loved the place. The waitress was wonderful. We enjoyed the brunch . The selections were great. I especially loved the seafood Alfredo, and the chicken cordon blue. I had an omelette especially made it was delicious. We had some patrons that told us they come just about every weekend because they loved the place.
