Butcher & Singer
Stuffed Hash Browns
The restaurant itself is very pleasant. I must say, because of coronavirus it was much less occupied than capacity. The service was very attentive and pleasant. I called ahead to confirm availability of vegetarian meals. Although I was assured it would no problem, the selections were limited to salads and side dishes. I selected your restaurant on the basis of ambience as it was my wife’s birthday. On this basis it was the right choice. Need I remind you in 2020 more diners will expect a broader range of menu choices
Excellent food as always; Matt was a great server!
Consistently out of this world food, drink, ambience and service
Thank you again Butcher and Singer! X
They were so kind and friendly. I would go back every anniversary
The decor is incredible. The staff were friendly and accommodating as soon as we walked in. The seafood tower was a must! We shared the NY Strip, creamed spinach and French fries. Service was spot on. We’d definitely return. Enjoyable afternoon.
Thank you for joining us. We are so glad you enjoyed the overall experience. Thank you for providing feedback.
First time visiting the restaurant. Very impressed with the decor and overall setting. Not so much with the attention we were initially given, nor the accuracy of our order - specifically the filet mignon that I ordered. Will consider a repeat visit but then again, there are several world class steak houses in the immediate neighborhood.
Great food and atmosphere. Prices a little high but would definitely recommend
Thank you for joining us.
Undercooked steaks. If a steak house can’t cook to the proper temperature all else is a waste of time
My family of five went to Butcher & Singer for an early dinner on a Sunday evening for my husband‘s birthday. One of our daughters is a vegetarian, another does not eat beef or pork. The two of them each ordered the macaroni & cheese side and they also shared the table’s baked potato and stuffed hash browns. My husband and I shared the porterhouse for two and the creamed spinach and our other daughter ordered the surf and turf. My husband, as the steak aficionado, didn’t think a whole lot of the porterhouse. I would have been just fine had we ordered the porterhouse for one, because I ate more of the sides than I did the steak. We had also shared the crab dip appetizer and the fried calamari appetizer. In my opinion, the macaroni and cheese, the calamari, the creamed spinach, and even the baked potato were over-salted. I found the crab dip and stuffed hashbrowns, on the other hand, to be very bland. We all enjoyed the biscuits with honey butter. My husband is also a Key lime pie aficionado. The Key lime pie here is excellent. Two of my girls ordered the fudge cake, which was delicious. The other daughter ordered the baked Alaska. The menu gives no description whatsoever of the dishes, so we were unhappily surprised to find that the baked Alaska has banana ice cream in it, which none of us like. Overall, not a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was good, but I doubt we’ll go back.
Food was Outstanding!
Waiter was excellent?
Overall experience was fantastic!
Lovely to hear. Thank you for writing about the experience.
So we decided to go here for dinner bc my husband had just been there a week prior with co workers and raves about the food. So we booked the reservation we’re excited and looking forward to a good meal with some old friends. From the minute we sat the waitress was not friendly to say the least. The entire night she was rude and condescending. Twice she just walked away as we were trying to talk to her. We tried talking to her and making small talk thinking maybe she was just having a bad at but it never got better. The food was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. However the service left us uncomfortable and frustrated. We spent about $800 and tipped 20% so for that kind of money we expected top notch service. Such a shame.
Always a great meal here. Our servers Chris and Matt were awesome.
Thank you. We agree!
Amazing food and top notch experience!!!!!
My husband and I had a wonderful time. The food Elias excellent as well as the service. Our waiter was exceptional. I highly recommend.
Wonderful. Thank you!
First time at B&S, it was excellent. Brian, our server was very social and helped us with any questions. My wife and I split the porterhouse for 2 and hash browns and creamed spinach, everything was excellent, only issue was the steak could have been hotter, but overall we would recommend it and come back another time that we are in Philadelphia
Wonderful to read. Cheers and thank you!
Great meal. Great service.
Lovely to hear. Many thanks for sharing.
Dinner was amazing and the entire dining experience felt like we were transported to a different time & place!
Thank you for sharing. We are always hoping to provide an experience that offers an imaginary get-away. Thank you for visiting.
Visiting Philly for the night we wanted a nice meal. Butcher and Singer was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The waiter suggested cooking our Delmonico steak medium instead of rare and was spot on! A great experience.
Thank you for joining us during your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the experience.
Wow the food was excellent as always the service was not what it usually is. Perhaps this was an off night however at this price point all night should be on!
My wife and I went to have lunch in a location that had a nice ambiance great food and drinks. We were not disappointed and never have been at Butcher & Singer. The wait staff is always helpful and courteous but never over bearing. My wife had the steak sandwich with in house made potato chips which was terrific and more than she could eat.I had a New York strip steak with a side of mushrooms and onions. The steak of course was done to perfection. Our cocktails as always delicious.I can't wait till I have another opportunity to visit here again.
Brussel sprouts and creamed spinach was amazing! Def recommend those sides.
Always a great dining experience. Great chophouse food. Professional bartenders and wait staff. Excellent atmosphere. Ready to go back.
We chose Butcher and Singer to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it didn't disappoint! Our server Ricky was very friendly and helpful. The steaks were magnificent (Delmonico for me and the porterhouse for my husband). I did see one review noting the saltiness of the food, and the seasoning on both steaks were definitely on the salty side, but I liked it. Something to keep in mind though for those with salt sensitivity. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting again!
It was my boyfriend's and my first time there. It took us a bit to get seated even though we had a reservation. The server Stacey was amazing, she really sold us on coming back to try it again. The food was just okay for the price we had paid for it, but we are willing to come back and try something else next time.
Slow, inattentive service this time. Overall disappointing.
The service was very bad. We waited almost an hour for our meal. Our server did not come over at all to check on us either while we were waiting. She also took our plates away before we were even finished eating. The food was very good, but unfortunately our server left us with a very bad impression.
Butcher and Singer is still great after all these years. Classic steakhouse. Perfectly cooked steaks, great seafood tower, excellent service. My favorite steak house in the city. Definitely plan to spend some money, but worth it for a great experience.
Excellent service and food
Seated right away, server was attentive and friendly. Onion soup was tasty and large enough to share. Biscuits are the best you’ll ever have. Steak cooked to liking and the sides were on par. Love the ambiance and music there, hands down one of the best overall steakhouses in Philly. Expect to spend $250 per couple with just 1-2 drinks each.
This place is now one of our favorites!
Great! Good food and service love it there !
Brian is the best server! Food was absolutely delicious and the ambience is perfect. The prices are a little high, even for a steakhouse.
The food and service was excellent. Only complaint is that the music was a little...frenetic. If they could choose music that’s a little quieter it would help the ambiance considerably. There is plenty of music from the era that would fit better. That said, we will go back.
Stacy was a new server. (Only two weeks in she claimed! ) she knew the menu and exactly how to make our experience amazing! Five stars,,, Stacy was excellent! We will be back! Thx!!!
Thank you for sharing. We will compliment Stacey and look forward to your next visit.
Very good food and very nice waiter. We also enjoyed the bar.
AWESOME, I am EXTREMELY picky and my standards are high and this met and exceeded expectations. Our server Amy is a blessing to the field and we were lucky to have her. Was a night I will remember forever!
Thank you for joining us. We appreciate the feedback.
This is normally my "go-to" restaurant since it's only a block from my office. Normally excellent, but dinner last night was all around very poor. Had a 7p reservation. Was there catching up with an old friend and let the waiter know we would be chatting for a few minutes over our drinks before ordering. This didn't stop our waiter from coming over every five minutes asking if we were ready to order. Finally we told him we'd order a couple starters and then figure out what we wanted for dinner. He informed us that he could only take our entire order at one time!!! What top notch restaurant does this? We also asked for some bread (which every other table had). The delicious biscuits finally arrived while we were eating our main course, at least a half hour after we first had to ask for them. This is after we had to remind our waiter several times we were still waiting. I ordered my filet medium and my guest ordered his veal chop medium well. They both arrived extremely rare and had to go back. His had to go back twice. Also, our stuffed hashed browns arrived at room temperature. To say the restaurant was having an off night is an understatement. Finally, the men's room was filthy with no hand towels, and dirty towels all over the floor from overflowing trash cans. Not good at all. This used to be my favorite steakhouse in Philly (where I have lived for over 40 years) but no more. They really need to get their act together.
Always amazing, perfect Delmonico on this trip. My wife is watching her choices and was able to request very specific cooking instructions that were handled exactly as requested.
We are very pleased we could accommodate. Thank you for joining us and sharing.
Food and service were excellent and provided in a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere
Great as always!
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
