The restaurant is beyond gorgeous. Very high ceiling with lovely decor. We figured that it must have been an old bank building? The music was beautiful jazz that fit the surrounds perfectly. We were greeted graciously upon arrival and checked in promptly. Our waiter was outstanding, without being fussy or stiff and formal, he was funny and delightful.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday, just the two of us. We started with house cocktails which were both delicious. I asked to replace the tequila with gin in my cocktail and my request was accommodated, no questions asked.
My husband had 1/2 doz oysters on the half shell, three of each kind offered. I had the butcher salad. If you order a salad, I would recommend sharing it with 2 or 3 people. I noticed the Caesar Salad at the next table was split 4 ways and everyone seemed to have an ample portion.
For our Entree, we decided to have the Surf 'n Turf and shared it. The 8oz. petit fillet and lobster tail along with the side of mashed potatoes (more like puréed potatoes, but with a great spuds flavor) was plenty of food for us.
We saved room for the Baked Alaska and their special cheesecake. Both divine!
As we were leaving the host checked in on us to ask if we had enjoyed our evening? Loved everything about this restaurant. My new favorite steak house in Philly.
great place! great food! Good service! I would definitely come again.
Butcher & Singer is one of my go-to Philly spots, especially for clients. The food is great, the drinks are well made, the servers are top notch, and the atmosphere is as classy as they come.
Great food, great services and great experiences.
Excellent customer service and attention, went for a birthday and they treated us well. The place is very nice and it is great to enjoy a nice classic steak meal.
I also appreciate that they had half-size bottles of wine available, which was perfect for our needs.
I did not feel welcomed at all. Server rarely asked how meal was and was very unwelcoming. Food was ok but my server needs a re training.
Great looking restaurant and wonderful energy and ambiance. Wine list is slightly limited, but cocktails are good. Only downside is service is too slow. Even with reservations, it took almost an additional 30 minutes to be seated. and after being seated, it took a long time before menus are provided, or order to be taken.
Typical steakhouse nothing stood out except for the obnoxiously loud music. You couldn’t hear the server or anyone talking to you. Definitely won’t be back. If you like dining and feeling your at a football game than this is your place. Nothing elegant or fancy about it when you playing music like your at a club than get a bill for 400 dollars. Lol
Great good. Great service. The server was on point and for a sat night being packed we were in and out in just over an hr.
A little pricey but the food was delicious! The portions were exactly as described, and everything came out the way we have requested. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, a great experience!
Waiters amazing the biscuits are the best
Another excellent meal at Butcher & Singer. An anniversary meal with four of us together. Our steaks were perfectly prepared, the appetizers (Raw Oysters and Oysters Rockefeller) were spot on. Sides (stuffed hash browns and mushrooms and onions were delicious). We had desert too! (Baked Alaska). Going on a diet today, but the experience at B and S was well worth it. Beautiful, elegant space and very attentive service. One cannot ask for much more from a high end steakhouse. Yes, it is extravagant to dine at Butcher & Singer. But once in a while, a dining experience like this is necessary, and recommended.
Brian was amazing we ordered the Delmonico steak with the truffle butter and it taste amazing.. the atmosphere and the restaurant is beautiful I have been here multiple times and can’t say one bad thing about the restaurant or the service!
Great food, great service, great environment. Would recommend and visit again
We had a beautiful time. Chris was awesome in making sure my allergy needs were met. Cannot wait to return.
Great dining experience! Terrific food and service. Highly recommend!
Our server Stacey was fantastic and food was delicious
Service was initially slow.
We had a great experience at Butcher and Singer with our server Brian (aka Tall Guy Server Brian). The food was amazing and Brian did an exceptional job of making our sure we had a 5 star dining experience
We dined at Butcher and Singer during the flooding from IDA and Tornado alerts. At one point everyone's phone went off with a tornado warning. Yet the food was perfect and Bryan's service was impeccable. A most enjoyable way to spend a scary evening. Can't wait to return.
First tine dining here. Won’t be my last. The epitome of everything you want in a true steakhouse. Can’t be happier
Genuinely feel like my life has changed. PLEASE have their Baked Alaska
One of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. We celebrated our anniversary this evening. The food was delicious as always. I love the shellfish platter. Service was excellent and friendly. I always recommend this spot.
Everything was perfection! Alexander, our waiterxwas outstanding, our steaks were amazing and all other food was delicious. Can't wait to come back!!!
We had the most amazing experience for a friend’s birthday celebration! Everything was cooked to perfection, the cocktails were delicious and the service was perfect as well. Jared as a delight and went above and beyond! We couldn’t have asked for more!!!
Great birthday dinner
The decor and building were beautiful, service was excellent, food was good (especially the biscuits).
Food and service excellent
Very cold in restaurant!!
Food was delicious and the adult drinks are good too.
One of the best looking restaurants that I’ve been to with great service. The lobster was amazing. The steak was solid but not special. It is real good venue!
Stacy was excellent. Food was excellent. We will return.
Our waiter Brian was wonderful! So friendly and helpful. Food was amazing as always.
This restaurant has very good food and great service. We were seated immediately for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed the whole dining experience. The staff was very pleasant, knowledgeable and answered any questions that we had regarding items on the menu.
This place is great for special occasions. It was my son's 14th birthday. Steaks were cooked to perfection, medium rare. We ordered two Delmonico's and one porterhouse along with the asparagus and hash brown sides. The hash brown side were terrific. The place is pricey, but the quality of the steak makes it all worth it. My son said that it was the best steak he ever had. Definitely one of the best steakhouses around and would highly recommend.
Nice calm and relaxing atmosphere. Service was great and I felt really welcomed. Food was properly cooked and well portioned. Definitely a great place to sit back and enjoy life.
The food and service were outstanding. The staff was very attentive to our special requests and gave us an anniversary dinner to remember. We will be going back again soon!
Beautiful restaurant, food was good but service Awful. We had a female server for our anniversary dinner on Friday august 20th for 730 ressies. We had to wait at the bar for 30 mins but that’s fine as enjoyed a drink and host was very nice. Our meal started out well enough with sever and being pleasant and ordering drinks. However she took an inordinate amount of time coming back to us. Plus water was never refilled and had to ask other servers for some. Same with wine. We had a bottle decanted but not once did she pour for us other than first glass - which in a restaurant of this caliber is very unusual. Finally, when food came - by another server - I looked up and they have a beautiful clock it was 9pm. We never saw her again for 25 minutes. Not how is your dinner? Is it cooked appropriately, etc. By the time we just wanted to leave and pay. She asked about dessert and I’m thinking to myself this is our wedding anniversary and not once did you wish us well but you don’t even give a small piece of cake or similar? We eat at fine dining all the time so this was baffling as well. We then had to ask another person for the check when we kept waiting and none was produced by her. I quickly paid and left. Bill was $445 with a $122 bottle of wine and I still tipped $45 which would have been $80 If she simply paid attention. Really left awful taste in my mouth. Flew up to Philly for this weekend as I’m from here and wanted to show my wife my hometown and have a nice experience but was sadly not the case. However upon arrival back at our hotel at the Ritz server was so pleasant we had after drinks and dessert and was a big change from The BS we got from B&S.
